No Doubt released exactly one album in the ‘90s that anyone has heard of. Why are they on this list?
Me stretching to put some females on the list. But I still got yelled at for not having females. I even threw my favorites on there PJ Harvey and Bjork. I also thought Return To Saturn was 99.

This is kind of what I was getting at. Tragic Kingdom is great, and I’m not trying to knock No Doubt…but Gish and Siamese Dream are both absolute stone classic records, and Mellon Collie, while not quite on the same level due to double-album bloat, is still excellent. Plus, Pisces Iscariot has some killer tracks on it for a b-sides collection. Billy Corgan is certainly a chode, but his ‘90s output was, by my lights, anyway, phenomenal.

Yeah, the Pumpkins are in the upper half of the acts in this for me and that is despite seeing them play a pretty spectacularly poor show the first time that I saw/heard them. They've got some great songs and were truly ambitious, even if maybe their ambitions were sometimes beyond their reach. (And even though I never have any desire to hear Billy Corgan give his thoughts or opinions outside of song.)

I really think Mellon collie is one of the better albums of the 90s. Adore is really strong as well. I know it was received poorly on release but it’s one of those albums everyone has gone back and been like yeah we kinda of messed up with this one. Same way they did Pinkerton. Speaking of where’s Weezer?
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

Sang doesn't like them.
Edit: Actually, re-reading his post, it seems that sang_xcx omitted them because he only liked one of their albums in the 90's.

dude, Drown from the Singles soundtrack with the noise solo at the end...
I don't know that I agree with that, but I also don't think they're among the better bands of the '90s.
Most of their songs are whole or in part just old reggae/hip hop/hardcore stuff. They’d add their own lyrics sometimes but once you know the source material you realize they are a creative cover band
I put together a playlist a while ago that collected a songs that show up in whole or part in a number of sublime songs

they're also a hip hop band, a genre that was and is still built around sampling though
I saw them in the fall before Covid and it was decent enough, and we had a good time. I was glad to have finally seen them. I came away thinking that’s a band (with Rome) I’d probably catch at a festival but I didn’t really need to see again otherwise.

You also only saw one original member
That’s right. But that’s what was on the table almost 25 years later.

No it's because they only had 2 albums in the 90's.

I think we just have to work with the flawed framework we have been given here so that we can reach the correct conclusion that Soundgarden was the best 90's band of those listed here.
