Solid first day! Top set for me was the Chems, but Gabriels were the other standout of the day.
I had a cool moment in DESPACIO around 7:00 yesterday when I spit from my group and was just vibing by myself. About 10 minutes in realized I’ve been dancing with Lucy Dacus and Julian Baker and some of the girls from MUNA for 15 minutes.
Maybe my rant about weekend 1 getting hosed wasn't a joke...

This is the post that has easily made me most jealous so far on celeb spottings. Solid work
Very Mojave heavy day yesterday. Didn’t get a chance to make it over to Pusha or Doechii unfortunately due to my wife really wanting to see Benee, but it was a great time. Lewis OfMan was great, as were Domi and JD Beck - always nice to see 805er Anderson Paak. MUNA are great performers, and Blondie was fun but that crowd was consistently thinning out throughout the set. Passing the Garden on the way to Chem Bros was interesting lol, tent was 1/4 filled but those up front were going pretty hard. Obviously nothing to add about Chem Bros that was not already said, but they were amazing. Caught Ashnikko for a bit on the way out and was too tired for A-trak despite him being my favorite DJ, but I’ve seen him a million times and his brother probably brings him down lol.
Not a bad thing to say. Yesterday was damn near perfect.
What a day yesterday. In all the years if felt like the best we have had as a group.
Firstly, the freedom to roam with beer this year has saved us so much stress about set times. Also the new bottles for water were great and I didn't find myself ever having to queue for water either.
Starting in sonora with Soulglo who had moments I liked. The bar in that tent is perfect.
Gabriel's next. Heard one song before but you can see that this band is going to be huge. Turned to my friend and said "these dudes will do a bond theme" I stand by that statement.
Quick drink and back for Overmono who were on my must see list. Love it. I Have A Love live was a highlight. Although set placement felt wrong and also felt like it could have had more bass.
Did a quick tour. Bit of despacio. Yuma by that point had a queue way too long for me to bother. Got more beer.
Then off to Wet Leg. They came out on stage to the Hobbiton theme and from there it was pure fun. Great band. They seemed to be totally into it..infectious from the start
More beer then Blondie. Hit after hit after hit. It was amazing to watch them live. Musically tight and Debra still seems to love it.
We saw a bit of the Garden which I didn't know what to make of. Did Salem start a hyperpop duo?
Chemical Brothers finally. I've waited 20+ years to see them and I'm still grinning from the experience. Visually insane. Musically assaulting. It was the perfect set and will go down as a gig going highlight for me. My legs a battered from dancing like a fool. Also I want to say the sound on the outdoor is absolutely immense. Easily the best sounding stage of the night for me. Well..despacio too.
And I still have Underworld and Bjork to experience.
See you all out there. Will be wearing a Coil t-shirt today I think.

Oh if I didn’t get to vibe at Despacio with Katie Gavin in a leather bikini, I can confidently say now that W1 is washed. Forever. No going back.
It's definitely packed, however for both Gorillaz and Chemical Brothers, you could basically easily walk down to the soundboard and get a prime place 5 minutes before it started. When I got to Chemical Bros after Gorillaz, at first I thought I made a mistake because it wasn't full at all.

I had a lot of room and I was just in front of the soundstage on the right side.

Yesterday was one of my all time fave days at this festival in all my years coming. Gorillaz, Bad Bunny, Overmono, Chemical Bros, Murder Capital, Descapio and the fucking COMET IS COMING all so much fun.
It’s a fucking scorcher out here though. Any word on the do lab special guests tonight besides skrillex?
Interpol & The Walkmen 11.23 I Am Morbid/Suffocation 11.26 King Diamond 11.29 Sadistic Intent/Massacre 11.30 70K Tons Of Metal 2025 Hell's Heroes 2025 Sick New World 2025 Maryland Deathfest 2025
Feeling devastated that my wife waited 2 hours in the merch line to buy me a W1 poster and then we left it at the hotel 😭 Can anyone confirm if the posters this weekend still say Frank and if so is there any way someone grab one for me? I’d reimburse you of course, plus extra for the trouble. 🙏🏼

Hopefully Fred comes on after … would work from a crowd control perspective given Calvin

you could just download the hi-res image files from the Coachella site and just get them printed. I used poster ninja for all of mine and they came out great.
the weekend 1 vs weekend 2 discussion is turning into democrats vs republicans type shit. tucker carlson will be soon talking about it
It's a bit tiring imo. Just pick your weekend and have fun. I will say that some of the weekend 2 people on reddit seem to have an inferiority complex lmao.
The one thing across the weekends is how fucking gorgeous it is this year. I'm always impressed with the grounds but this year it feels special. The art is gorgeous. No matter where you look it seems beautiful. I'm find it very hard to get any good pictures because no camera can capture the fully vistas your getting
I'm not going to go on Tucker Carlson to talk about how the woke left didn't let me meet MUNA weekend 1. I'm going on Gutfeld! please get it right thank you

This is the case for most sets, honestly. Aside from hardcore fans for the most popular artists, people are always moving around. It’s quite refreshing compared to most festivals.
Hey guys! Haven’t posted this year but have real all 580 posts lol. I need some help with underworld, is it good and is it generally palatable for a squad who isn’t as deep into the weird electronic stuff? My personal favorite sets past few years have been aphex, tame Impala, Jamie xx, chemical bros, caribou so I’m thinking there’s a good chance it’s down my alley but the stream looked kinda all over the place and I can’t really risk sending my crew down a rabbit hole while they’re tripping. Everyone loved caribou last year so I’m hopeful it’s that type of vibe..

I’ll be in a red Pizza Planet hat if anyone sees me and wants to say hey.
Separately: any recommendations for W1 folks on the best spot for Prydz if you’re trying to meet up with people? Heard it was crowded, I know the right side is always better, just curious for insights.

They’re very accessible. Between the fun vocals and uplifting melodies, they can appeal to anyone vaguely into electronic music. And their light show is just that: a light show. No tripping or unsettling visuals.
Our two friends, who are more into dubstep and bass and pop EDM, weren’t familiar with them and walked away new fans.
My wife seemed to enjoy Underworld marginally more than the Chemical Brothers. She has something against the Chemical Brothers for some reason and it’s causing me to question everything lol
