Hey guys! Haven’t posted this year but have real all 580 posts lol. I need some help with underworld, is it good and is it generally palatable for a squad who isn’t as deep into the weird electronic stuff? My personal favorite sets past few years have been aphex, tame Impala, Jamie xx, chemical bros, caribou so I’m thinking there’s a good chance it’s down my alley but the stream looked kinda all over the place and I can’t really risk sending my crew down a rabbit hole while they’re tripping. Everyone loved caribou last year so I’m hopeful it’s that type of vibe..
They’re very accessible. Between the fun vocals and uplifting melodies, they can appeal to anyone vaguely into electronic music. And their light show is just that: a light show. No tripping or unsettling visuals.
Our two friends, who are more into dubstep and bass and pop EDM, weren’t familiar with them and walked away new fans.
My wife seemed to enjoy Underworld marginally more than the Chemical Brothers. She has something against the Chemical Brothers for some reason and it’s causing me to question everything lol
Chem Bros can be much more discordant to the uninitiated. Their visuals are also pretty intense! Not for the faint of heart.

Thanks so much man, this is exactly what I was looking for.

One person in our group of 16 HATES the chemical brothers, but seems to enjoy hating and came for a second time last night anyway (portola was first). It’s like a kink. It’s…annoying lol. Literally everyone else, most of whom were not planning on the set, walked away saying it’s the best edm show they’ve seen.
I’ll be in a red Pizza Planet hat if anyone sees me and wants to say hey.
Separately: any recommendations for W1 folks on the best spot for Prydz if you’re trying to meet up with people? Heard it was crowded, I know the right side is always better, just curious for insights.
We went right to right side ADA even with the crowd.

Chem bros was the first set I’ve had to see all by myself at Coachella. Was amazing and I had a great time, but man sometimes the vibe of the music switched up so hard that it was a bit disorienting
the weekend 1 vs weekend 2 discussion is turning into democrats vs republicans type shit. tucker carlson will be soon talking about it
It's a bit tiring imo. Just pick your weekend and have fun. I will say that some of the weekend 2 people on reddit seem to have an inferiority complex lmao.
yes, that is the basis of my comment. weekend 2’ers on reddit are walking around with their shirts off, doing push ups and chugging beer talking so much shit
It's definitely packed, however for both Gorillaz and Chemical Brothers, you could basically easily walk down to the soundboard and get a prime place 5 minutes before it started. When I got to Chemical Bros after Gorillaz, at first I thought I made a mistake because it wasn't full at all.
This is the case for most sets, honestly. Aside from hardcore fans for the most popular artists, people are always moving around. It’s quite refreshing compared to most festivals.
My last real Coachella was 2016 and I remember being packed into a lot of stuff. I went in 2019 but only saw a few things, in my head I expected it to be hard to get a good spot but so far it’s been very easy.
Yesterday was one of my all time fave days at this festival in all my years coming. Gorillaz, Bad Bunny, Overmono, Chemical Bros, Murder Capital, Descapio and the fucking COMET IS COMING all so much fun.
It’s a fucking scorcher out here though. Any word on the do lab special guests tonight besides skrillex?
Hopefully Fred comes on after … would work from a crowd control perspective given Calvin
Ready for Day Two! I'm wearing a Soulwax t-shirt. Feel free to say hi if you happen to walk by my couch.
I thought I saw you walk passed me on the way to the Sonora but I also thought you went weekend 1 instead of 2 this year so I convinced myself it wasn't you lol

Forgot to mention this when someone was asking for food recs the other day but there’s a great Korean fried chicken vendor in Indio Central Market. Chimmelier.
Nia has to be the move but I’ll probably have to split from my group since everyone is convinced to go to Prydz. I’m good with seeing the end of Holo after some jungle so see y’all there.

The logician in me is saying Prydz is never bringing Holo to Atlanta
I'd go with Nia or Skrilly over Prydz. The HOLO setup is not worth missing better music for imo. If you like Prydz then by all means go for it but I wasn't a huge fan of his set.
