Uh, what? The crowd for Labrinth looked like it went all the way back to the Sahara. I’ve never seen anything like it. We had to fight and claw to get over to the rose garden, it was absolute madness. That would’ve been a bigger outdoor crowd than almost any outdoor acts this year. I’ve never heard screams at coachella like the ones Zendaya got.
(My weird hot take is that I wish it were Sahara - would’ve had space for that insane crowd, and I think the vibe oddly would be okay even though a lot of it was on the chiller side)
Yeah, not sure where Supre was viewing Labrinth from...but like I was saying, he had to have had the biggest crowd in the Mojave ever.
Wish it would have been on the Outdoor so I could have stayed longer, but that crowd was absolutely ridiculous.
Honestly, it felt like it might be bigger than nearly any Sahara show back when that tent was the Sahara. It was genuinely the most overcrowded show relative to the stage it’s at I’ve seen in 16 Coachella’s.
I saw the last 30 minutes of Prydz and loved it. I chose Nia after underworld and thank god I did because her show was magnificent. Played bangers and then sang her own hits with an amazing voice and tons of energy.
I expected to not like Prydz, was really surprised with how great the part I saw was.

Everyone I saw today was great, just ranking by how much I enjoyed it at the time.

Super jealous of you W2 peeps that are closing out with Fred x 4T x Skrillex tonight. I’ve just been tricking my brain into thinking last Sunday was still great by only watching clips of Frank performing the 4-5 songs he actually performed last weekend.
You guys are going to have a blast! Back to W2 for me next time!

Honestly confused why Calvin didn’t play much Funk Wav in his set. Funk Wav Calvin is the only Calvin I like so I skipped his set entirely (thanks to the foresight of W1). But looking at his setlist it just seems odd that he didn’t play anything off Vol 2 and only a single song off Vol 1. He even had several featured artists that were at the fest this year with him who could have showed up as guests. Just seems like a missed opportunity
Can someone ask the old lady from Egypt what she thinks of Lana Del Rey headlining Coachella so we can know whether the festival has redeemed its reputation as a laughingstock worldwide
So who tipped off the kids to Zendaya. That had to be why so many people rolled up. Because the theory of Billie showing last week made it a tent that was full and nothing else. Only way everyone shows.

Or people really like Labrinth lmao. Why is that so hard to understand? His show preview looked amazing and he's got a big following due to Euphoria and collabs, and people were raving about his show last week and not only due to Billie.
Not going to lie, Labrinth shitshow put an absolute damper on my weekend. My most anticipated show of the weekend and I couldn’t get anywhere close or hear or see anything. I gave up and went home. The waitlist for guest viewing was, no lie, hundreds and hundreds of people deep.
I am trying to pump myself up for today and until now it has been an incredible weekend but it was so frustrating and impossible.
Completely inexcusable putting him in that tent. That was a main stage crowd trying to get into the Mojave. I have no idea what GV was thinking.

So whats the discussion to have now. Just on the sake of safety you put anyone who might have A list guests on the main? Its not as if Metro Boomin was not an obvious candidate to be somewhere else but how do you do it. So what do we say about 2014 when Lana and Pharell were on Outdoor? Like whoever has the most streams gets bigger stage? There hasnt been anything about somebody getting legit hurt at Mojave?

Reminds me of when Bonnaroo would put massive artists in those small tents, but on a much grander and fucked scale.

Man, you’ve posted so many times here and on Reddit acting like it’s weird or inauthentic that Labrinth had a huge crowd, it’s kind of odd even for you. We were all shocked he was in the Mojave in the first place. The dude has a ton of extremely popular songs, with a production that is incredible live, and hasn’t performed live in like 7 years before this? Not a person in that crowd would’ve been upset if there were no guests; the whole crowd was into it and singing along, one of the more engaged crowds I’ve seen throughout. It’s crazy just HOW packed his set was but it would’ve been far stranger if the Mojave wasn’t spilling out at all. He’s perfect for coachella and he’ll easily turn this into a guest-free tour playing at least 8k cap venues if not arenas, and could be a subheadliner in the next two years if he puts out an album and keeps performing.

He should’ve been on the outdoor instead of boygenius or the Sahara instead of suicideboys, given their relative crowd sizes. Maybe having him at the same time as Blackpink would help too, though given how packed it was 30 mins before he started I’m not sure that would’ve made a difference.
Sorry travelfan - that blows, especially given how much you paid for that ticket. They should’ve at least found a way to get you guys over to the rose garden without having to fight through a crowd tooth and nail like I had to.

Those swaps would've made perfect sense. boygenius had a much smaller crowd than I expected on the Outdoor.
Ngl hearing all this about the Labrinth crowd is kinda wild - at the beginning, we decided to just sit outside the tent on the back right in front of the wine garden thing’s fence. Once we stood up a couple songs in, we had a ton of space to see/dance. & by like halfway through the set, we were inside the back right of tent still with loads of space.
Then when Zendaya came out, there was the crowd rush (which especially after hearing from all y’all, probably was crushing the people at the very front ??) & we ended up in front of the soundstage again with lots of space. I guess it was just a benefit of being on the right but it’s so weird to me how sections of a crowd can end up so backed up/packed & overflowing while others are open. Feels like I’ve seen it happen more (/ to greater extremes) here at Coach then at any other fest I’ve been to.

I’m a little surprised boygenius didn’t have a bigger crowd (from what I’ve heard) but not that surprised. I think a set like that needs to be an hour earlier so you get sunset; by 8pm on Saturday people are generally looking for something different than quiet sad rock music, especially these days. Certainly didn’t expect that to have a particularly *large* crowd.

If you were on the right side, you were essentially protected by the shoulder to shoulder mass to your left. I can’t stress enough how hard it was to get to the right side. But that also meant people on that side were only going to leave, nobody’s going to try to get there (except me, I guess). I was able to get inside the tent from the rose garden in a great spot with 20-30 mins or so left, though it was still quite full. There was just a point at which it’s takes major effort to get to that side of the tent because of the rose garden, and 99% of people wouldn’t make that effort (I did because I needed to meet up with a friend whose phone was dead and didn’t want to abandon them).
The crowd rush definitely could’ve gotten super ugly. GV’s very, very lucky it didn’t.

Coachella fucking rocks. Chems and Underworld have been the peaks as expected, but every show has been incredible. Gonna spend an hour+ in Despacio today and stoked for Björk and Weyes Blood
My partner got a bad nose bleed during Underworld, so we missed an hour chilling at a beer garden while it stopped. Caught the last 1/2 of Nia. Tried to see Labrinth, saw the crowd, and noped off to Prydz.
I mean if we want a culprit its probably his agent who wanted Labrinth to close out a stage. But again, the tent was not even close to a mess last week in comparison. So all the Labrinth stans bought W2 tix? But I dont know how you address this without that same scenario playing out with somebody else. Whens the last time the fest happened and every single stage placement was balanced and done right. Always going to be a shitshow or 2 during the weekend. Last week Blink and Metro were way the ones. This weekend its Metro and Labrinth. The Mojave was boiling though for the entire end of the evening though. I saw the thermometer thats on stage during Jai Paul and it said 92 degrees.
Underworld was fantastic. Managed to squeeze in 3 different trips to the Depascio throughout the day and regret nothing. Such a good time and the music style/tempo was different each time.
