I voted Pyramids because I think it's doing too much, but doesn't really have any sections that make me think "hell yeah this is awesome". Ten minutes of "I suppose this is pretty good". Like this is currently a list of 20 absolute bangers, something has to go
The electronic breakdown in Pyramids is one of my favorite sections in all music
I just listened to it a few minutes ago and find it really cheesy 🤷

re: intergalactic apparently SOME OF Y'ALL haven't been 17 years old in your friends mazda 626 with neon lights and two fosgate 12"s smoking schwag from a metal pipe driving around bumping intergalactic. cease voting for intergalactic until you've had that experience.

metal pipe? 😬
we were past metal pipes at that point but i wanted to goose the story a lil' bit to better paint a picture. was definitely schwag though i didn't see a nugget until i was 18.
btw does schwag (aka low grade marijuana) exist anymore? been out the weed game for a while.
Ive always heard it called mid
we had three grades of weed: schwag being the lowest (all brown), mid being the middle (some brown some green), then just regular good weed.
in college it was all just regular good weed, but summer of 2001 nothing was around, then my friends cousin found multiple pounds of the worst schwag you've ever seen washed up on the beach on dauphin island. sent the weed up to us and soon all of auburn was smoking the worst weed i've ever had. by the end of the summer we were just trying to get rid of it and made some incredibly potent brownies and that was one of the worst nights of my life. thinking back now i'm wondering if that summer is what ultimately killed my love for weed.

Damn Let it Happen was like a top 3-5 song of the decade for me in the 10s. I've always thought Currents was overrated and I refer to it sometimes as "Let it Happen & Co" instead of Currents. Definitely in the top 25% of these songs for me.

We called it "ditch weed" and then Reggie the next level. And this regular good weed these days will blast you off into the cosmos. I have one guy for Reggie, and one guy for when I want to communicate with aliens.*
EDIT: *or text other inforooers utter and complete nonsense.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

I was surprised Intergalactic was the #1 for Beasties as well, but six people had it as their top choice or their number two... I'd take it up with them I suppose

Dirt weed still exists. A bunch of old stoners (older than me) still smoke that schwag bullshit. Then it is mid and Kin...I have only smoked kin bud since the early aughts.
I haven't seen mids in years afaik. Miss it though tbh - potent weed really just gives me paranoia and/or makes me ruminate. I don't really like flower though in general because it aggravates my sinuses. I know my dispo has some stuff in the 15% THC range but I haven't tried it to compare it to the mids of yesteryear.

i didn't like tame until currents lol. but i'm hyper critical of acts that try to bury their songwriting under fuzz and distortion and noise and poor recordings just to create a vibe. so when JVN busts out Currents and it's this super clean sounding unapologetically smooth yacht pop record i was all for it.
agree "let it happen" bangs but "yes i'm changing" is also a great song. i love it when good song writing leaves me dumbfounded, and the first time I heard "they say that people never change but that's bullshit they do" i was completely dumbfounded. kind of couldn't believe i'd just heard that line. so good.
and i guess "eventually" is played out for more hardcore tame fans but it's undeniably a great track. fabulous song to hear live.

gotcha. I’m a big distorted fuzz vibes guy myself who loves apocalypse dreams more than bangs type stuff. For the sake of brevity I keep it to LIH and Co, but Eventually is also really great. Those are really the only two I need in my life from the album.
