R.E.M. Poison The Bangles The B-52's The Clash Van Halen Dire Straits Duran Duran Huey Lewis & the News Pixies The Pretenders Prince & the Revolution The Replacements Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers The Traveling Wilburys
No chance. But I'll throw them out there once the poll gets started.
Regardless, you should clarify how "80's" a band has to be. We had random shit that resurfaced like J. Giles Band (Love Stinks) and The Kinks (Paranoia Mean Destroyer) from the 1960's, AC/DC Back in Black and Judas Priest's (most popular albums) from the 1970's, Rush from the 1970's selling their most records, etc.
Also the 1980's has more than enough bands in a variety of genres that could support individual 80's genre polls. We're talking punk, Hardcore, metal, new wave, college rock, 2nd invasion, Soul/R&B, experimental, new age, progressive, jazz, hip hop (maybe more groups than bands). That was a point of contention in the 1990's one.

But this whole “band” thing continues to push the male agenda - there were amazing female artists in this time but they weren’t “bands” so we can’t count them.
It’s like we could do Siouxsie and the Banshees, Eurythmics, Heart, Pretenders, Blondie…but we couldn’t do Patti Smith, Madonna, Kate Bush, Tina Turner because they don’t have a “band”? And arguably in terms of solo acts, it’s more female heavy than male heavy in the 80’s for rock artists. You can even argue that Bruce Springsteen counts because of “E Street Band”.
Just sayin guys, the whole “NOT A BAND” excludes a ton of women
