Feeling like being annoying about various Madonna singles to make sure pop makes it to the end. Have you people ever even listened to “Open Your Heart” before??
Disco nor pop hold up musically to jazz. They can’t even wash its feet. Both should go in a tie though I’ll break the tie late if p-a pop can go and save disco one last time.

All that effort that jazz musicians go through to still make worse music than the best pop and disco

My vote’s currently on Jazz because, while I have incredible respect for the musicianship involved, it’s probably what I’d choose last to listen to if I had to pick a radio station right now.
If Disco goes, though, I’m at peace with that. Its having made it this far is an absolute victory.

Feel like we complain about indie being here every round but no one is actually stepping up to do anything about it
What do you do about it though, and what is indie? Hardcore was the original indie if not garage rock before that. Is college rock indie if the term didn’t apply until 15 years later? Does Arcade Fire suck? Why does Google list Joy Division as indie? No indie bands or music that I would classify as indie are anything groundbreaking musically. It’s fine but often kind of rock light.

I'm really enjoying your staunch defense of complex music while also knowing how much time you spend at the Other.

I also listen to hardcore. But I didn’t much hit the Other this year I don’t think. Now I’m going to have to go back and look to see at the lineup. I’m thinking 2 full sets and maybe pieces parts of 3 or 4 others? But I will come clean in a minute.
Alright so I saw CloZee and Wreckno Thursday. Nothing at Other on Friday. The first half hour to hour of Chris Lake Saturday (was that which?) and 10 minutes of Said the Sky. And maybe 20 minutes of Of the Trees on Sunday. I’ll see some EDM, but this wasn’t a year for that for me. nothing made my Top 10 from the Other.
In fact while it was a decent sling my way, I’d be pretty comfortable saying I probably spent less time seeing EDM than 95% of the people here who saw 30+/- sets at Bonnaroo. OTOH the 3 jazz sets I saw at Bonnaroo - Sons (which I thought was exceptionally good), Herbie and Cory Henry all ruled.
So while gotcha politics and ignoring facts is acceptable in Magamerica, I kind of assumed this place was a little better.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
