So that was fun. And challenging. The Airbnbs have been interesting. Some had AC that didn’t half ass work. Breakfast has ranged from awesome to pathetic. Who leaves out a box of pop-tarts and calls that breakfast? Also, I’m pretty sure sausage is not supposed to be the color of wallpaper paste. The lunches have been great. We hit local owned places that have ranged from a soda shop for burgers and shakes, to great seafood in Natchez. In Port Gibson we went to the Old Country store. You have to wash your hands before you go near the buffet. Then you get a squirt of hand sanitizer and a napkin. Only then can you approach the food. They had the best fried chicken I have ever had.
The topography and climate changed so much as I rode further south. Swamps and magnolia trees started showing up. Beautiful wildflowers by the side of the road. And moss hanging from the trees. And the humidity increased 100%. In town the people sit on their front porch and wave as you go by. I had completely forgotten what it was like to live in a small town. I don’t miss it, at all. I’m just glad I had good weather for the most part and no mechanical problems. And no one ran over me. Even though I’m sure they wanted too. Legally I could ride in the whole lane. And a lot of the time I did, because the right side was bumpty bumpty bump bump.
