Has anyone else put maple syrup on cottage cheese? I used to when I was a kid all of the time. I think it is a Minnesota thing because my Papa is who taught me to do this. This was the same house that also allowed me to use the carton of Coffee Mate instead of milk for my cereal. Amazing, by the way. Especially with Raisin Bran or Cracklin Oat Bran. This all probably explains why I have been fighting the roly-poly bod my entire life.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
I’m on marinara since it’s not a condiment but if you had to give to one of ketchup or Mayo forever the answer is so obviously ketchup. Mayo is the water of condiments. It’s essential

I get marinara as a condiment if you're using it to dip stuff in a la ketcheup, etc.
but it's not a condiment for stuff like (most) pizza, chicken parm, or spaghetti marinara etc. condiments can't be an essential part of a dish imo.
like bleu cheese on a cobb salad isn't a condiment, but as a dipping sauce for wings, sure.
question for never ketchupers. what do you dip your fries in or put on hash browns and home fries? or do you just eat them plain?
If they come with a dipping sauce, I use that. If they don’t come with a dipping sauce but they are well-prepared and well-seasoned, I eat them plain. If they’re inferior potato products, I either use ketchup or I skip them altogether.

i'm a ketchup enjoyer but i'll dip french fries in anything. my absolute favorite french fry dipping sauce is this garlic paste at my favorite local middle eastern place, amazing. fries in ranch probably my second favorite ("scratch" ranch is best, not weirdly thick Hidden Valley ranch). fries in mayo is A or maybe even S tier. good honey mustard. almost any bbq sauce, even shitty bbq sauce is great on fries.

you can go to any restaurant and get chicken Parm or spaghetti without sauce, or a non marinara sauce
pizza is different because it's cooked with the dish, if it's a pasta bake sure not a condiment, but if you have a pot of cooked pasta and you add sauce that's a condiment

If you're getting chicken parm without marinara you're making a substitute off the menu almost every time.
Pasta, sure. There's a variety of sauces that can be used.
There are plenty of pizza options without marinara. I had pizza with a blue cheese base last night. Olive oil, pesto, and BBQ bases are all really common as well.

I eat them plain mostly. I love a super salty/crunchy shoestring french fry as is, but I will dip my fries in honey mustard or mayo sometimes. Same with tots and onion rings, nice and plain with salt. I eat my hash browns smothered and covered personally.
