Condiment Survivor Round 11 - Yasuraka ni nemuru soy sauce

Tabasco is neither horrible nor trash. It's Tabasco which is the OG of hot sauces considering the peppers come from the State of Tabasco, Mexico which was an Aztec area and the Aztecs invented hot sauce. It's fermented for like 3-5 years in oak barrels and has a distinctive sour but peppery taste. I do agree that it's not super hot except for people who use no seasoning at all. But it's fine for what it is and does have some uniqueness to the flavor even though most vinegar-pepper hot sauces taste pretty similar. I still like Crystal the best, but I'll use any of them if I want some of that flavor. In a lot of black-creole restaurants, there is often found peppers in vinegar sauce which is essentially spicy vinegar as the small peppers don't come out when you shake the bottle on your food. It's much more sour than a traditional hot sauce.

Tabasco has about 10 different and decent flavored pepper sauces besides the original - the jalapeno, chipotle, scorpion (which I think is their hottest) are all pretty decent. Scorpion is very hot. But I'm going to have to go ahead and agree with Pablo on the point that you can get much hotter sauces than a typical bottle of vinegar pepper sauce. There are some that will burn your mouth up. To this day, Possible Side Effects is the hottest one I've ever tried and it's only about 300,000 Scoville Units as opposed to the millions you can get today from Reapers, Scorpions, Dragon's Breath Peppers and shit like that. Those are brutality levels of heat. I'm generally good with under 25,000 units like serrano peppers which also have a distinctive flavor. Habanero Peppers can clock in at the low 6 figures and can be hotter than what I'm looking for. I don't need shit beyond that.
