Theres a solar eclipse happening on Oct 14 2023 !
Annular Solar Eclipse
An annular solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, but when it is at or near its farthest point from Earth. Because the Moon is farther away from Earth, it appears smaller than the Sun and does not completely cover the Sun. As a result, the Moon appears as a dark disk on top of a larger, bright disk, creating what looks like a ring around the Moon. The next annular eclipse in the U.S. will be on Oct. 14, 2023.
Yeah, its not gonna be full out here, but still cool. I bet theyll sell filters or glasses to view it. Gonna have to get some extra goodies to make that work for photos and not go blind.
Re the camping thing. Its def going to be by proximity and such. But are they gonna oversell whatever the cheapest one is and have an overflow? So they have all those camping areas labeled right? Quail, roadrunner, deer, bobcat, owl? Theyre gonna just make it a list for each area and price it accordingly. It will motivate people to buy it right away because now you want a good spot, you just gotta pay instead of just arriving early and getting prime real estate
Edit: although will they give whoever bought the bundle right now priority? I would assume so.

I liked Quail. It was further but it was quiet, it felt as if I was actually camping not at a festival which was nice. The walk wasn’t too bad
Can I buy a camping pass later? Think I might just grab a cheap ticket and hope for the best, friends have no idea if they want to camp or not
Theyl have it later. But I would tell you to book a hotel around there right now with free cancel/pay later and such just in case. The rates cant be that horrible either. Moreno Valley isnt the prettiest area, but at least an affordable room is still an option.
So my wife and I will probably be taking the year off, or just attending 1-Day. So I'll also be living through y'all for this edition. But I'll keep updating the thread like always and enjoy all of us playing the guessing game as to who will play in 2023.
Great about the cell reception for non-campers, but the ticket type option for camping locations has me worried. I'm thinking they're gonna charge a fee to camp closer to the venue. I hope I'm wrong
oh man, I didn't read it that way at first but I bet you're right.

Darkside confirmed?
2 weekend GA + camping bundles purchased! gonna be a long year..
I definitely plan to get to lake perris WAY earlier than 2 next year. pretty sure everyone's going to have the same plan though. hopefully it doesn't turn into coachella where people line up at 3am... saw like 3 people on reddit post that they were "the first ones there" and I just shook my head -- but who's laughing now, I guess, huh?
We were in the campground around 11 am this year and were initially put right across the street from the general store/campground stage. It felt like we were within the first 20 vehicles on the campground that morning. Our first night was miserable. We were up at 7 am Friday and relocated a little further out in Owl loop between some RVs are were golden the rest of the weekend.

what was terrible about it? Too much noise and foot traffic?

The noise for sure. My lady and I don't really party that hard and we like getting a decent night's sleep. Our bodies were vibrating from the sound coming from the stage till 3 am, it was rough. I suppose if you're up raging till 3-4 am then it wouldn't be a problem, that's not our style though ha.
Mrs gazer and I weren't planning to go next year after the rideshare fiasco this year. I saw the presale email this morning but missed the part about new rideshare location and cell service. That might've changed our mind, but now the presale is sold out. Oh well. I might look for cheap tix on secondary depending on the lineup, or wait and go back in 2024 if the new rideshare works well.

that's not my style these days either. Sometimes I can barely make it through a headliner's set. The van does a decent job blocking out now but not bass like that so I'll keep that in mind. Did you have a vehicle to move or just drag your stuff somewhere else?

I broke down my big ass canvas tent and carried it across the campground to stake our claim. Then we loaded up all our gear in my Forester and drove across the grounds. I was initially parked in an RV spot. We saw Phil drive by in a golf cart as I was setting stuff up and he stared me down pretty hard as he drove past. About 10 min later another DD worker drove up and said we'd have to move the car. I like to think Phil snitched on us haha. I told her what our situation was and that I was more than happy to repark where we initially were, but she said I could just pull up on the dirt out of the RV spot, it was super chill. We were right behind where a dumpster was supposed to be located and were expecting it to get put back in front of our spot, but the incoming RV folks just kept shuffling the dumpster around, definitely dodged a bullet there. It was a gamble that paid off for us and def. a lesson learned. I did find a pretty rad spot across the street from us that stayed pretty much shaded all day under a tree that I'm gonna keep an eye out for next time if we go again and get in the same loop.
For anyone's reference next year if you're in Owl loop across the street from RV sites 269 & 271 there's a big tree that affords a ton of shade. It's a pretty choice spot.

Yea your spot was chill, you were close to the store, had that tree and those bathrooms nearby
Early Bird Ga along with the camping bundle is sold out. So they def made this a limited quantity thing.
Probably mostly went to scalpers with the 6 ticket limit
This isnt Coachella. We dont know how few tickets were even available. What if they sold 500 like this and thats it? We got no idea. But it gives the illusion that theres demand. Yet strangely it was available for weeks at half the cost a year ago and people didnt give a shit. So what changed.

I know Brian, we talked all weekend in between sets and waiting for bands. I was sitting across from him on more than one occasion when he was writing. 😉
