@gno did you just bring your camera in with you or did you have a press pass or something? I'd love to bring the Nikon but I don't have any under 2" lenses or the balls to potentially get it taken away during a search or something.
My lens is an 18-55mm that runs at 2.25 inches making it a stupid war if I get checked at ADA/GA+ admission. I also usually have a 50mm that's down to 1.4 and and 35 which I probably won't bother bringing again. If you have a press pass which I have before and before the rules change I would bring my larger 35-55mm and my 24-105mm but without the pass, you might need to go through a whole process of hiding and that's not my thing. I try to take shots when my brain tells me to, and that's why you don't have any show videos etc. Totally capable of it but just not my jig anymore, I'd rather enjoy the show. get yourself a Nikon 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S DX VR Lens for DSLR Cameras E- you can easily bring that in

Also remember that they can't confiscate your stuff. Worst case scenario is you walking back to your campsite and dropping it off. Always take the smarter path, don't let them bust you for stupid shit. I had a whole camera bag I bring in on certain days. It's clear, it's honest and they know they could go get a tape measure but what's 1 inch?
Rina dedicated a cover of Blind by Korn to Matty Healy and his microaggressions at Glastonbury.
Korn is now a big soft spot and certainly elite among Bonnaroo shows I saw over the years. Why do people like the 1975? First time I heard them I wasn’t a fan. Got the vibe they thought they were better than they are. And they aren’t that good even for what they do. Maybe I’m wrong?
Im just remembering that after I came out of the Korn pit I was just a mess and huffing and puffing and telling my wife "it was so crazy, so much moshing, lost my hat then found it*, threw people up to be crowd surfed," and then this guy walks by in a suit and I just yell out "is that guy in a suit" thinking he just walked out of the crowd, he heard me turned looked at me and said yes. I realized he was coming and going from backstage and not actually coming out of the pit but I got real embarrassed I was loud enough that he heard me.
*oh yeah also my hat came off at some point and I decided that instead of leaving it I would retrace my steps through the carnage, managed not to lose my balance while not looking up, and yanked it out from under someone's feet, super reckless in hindsight but I didn't lose my hat!
@gno that last one is my guy Danny. He was pumped to see that pic.
Even as we are stratified, we are clearly a community, bc there are no random occurrences - I'm very happy that I got that picture at that specific time, at that specific entrance.

can you tell me more about this show? I saw them at Warped Tour that year but I imagine it was a pretty different experience
It was as crazy as all of their shows. Probably much smaller crowd than Knocked Loose. I just thought it was funny that Knocked Loose acted like they were the first metal band to ever play Bonnaroo.

Metallica 08. When people lost faith in the music selection and it was one of the best shows of the weekend THEN followed by MMJ in the rain show that had me sitting on top of a car and just listening for hours.
edit: shout out to Death Grips too.

I had no intention in going, because I was not familiar with DEP. But steveternal dragged me. We went for Cage the Elephant because they were on first and he wanted a good spot. I grabbed my rosary and followed him. We wound up on the rail to the right of the speakers. I knew we were in trouble when about 10 beefy security guys came up to the front. They started playing and I went "what the fuck is this shit?" But it was a blast. Being on the rail to the right protected us from the masses and mosh pits. Someone got their nose broke. And because it was so hot, the lead singer thought it was a good idea to throw out a CASE of water into the crowd.

I had a blast and was glad to make it out alive.
yeah that sounds fun as hell. Did the band climb all over everything?
