I recall that Vampire Weekend was in the conversation. It would fit the bill and make sense. Plus Ezra came out during Phoenix's headlining set last year. They won't have a new album to support, though that's never really been necessary for this festival which is predicated on nostalgia.

Saw something on Reddit about Grizzly Bear possibly reuniting for some shows next year. If they end up playing along with TV on the Radio, that's an instant buy for me

You know ... not as into Silversun or Kaiser, but this would be a wild lineup as is alongside any additional groups.
I saw Sky Ferreira at Pitchfork 2019 though and it was a train wreck lol. Still love that 2013 album though.

This would be funny because I distinctly remember Ed Droste sighing and going, "we know why we're here, it's a throwback" at the 2019 iteration, a show they apparently forgot about booking, called the hiatus beforehand, and had to briefly un-call it. I'd obviously be at that set again, but it wouldn't be my ideal setting to welcome them back.
For some reason, people on Reddit last year really wanted this fest to book Foster the People (I assume these are the same people who thought KROQ played "hipster music" in 2010), so thankfully they're out.

this is definitely an optimistic situation but the only real stretch is deerhunter (i feel like its gonna happen eventually though, probably not next year but who knows)
one of my friends acted with sky ferreira in a project and said that she would leave the set mid-scene to go get high in her dressing room. sounds like she has some real issues

Just saw Stars perform "Set Yourself on Fire" at the Fonda the other night, but was distracted by one of the rudest crowds I've ever been in (their audiences are usually lovely, so it was odd), so I'd gladly take an encore performance of that at JLH. Hell, Amy Millan was at this year's festival with BSS. In retrospect, they fucked up by not booking Stars alongside BSS and Metric.
I'm surprised The Decemberists haven't played this thing yet either, and their surprisingly-good latest album is still pretty recent.
I am curious if we also get this one early with Cruel World coming out way sooner than it did last year?
Easily. Theyre gonna have their full slate up and going before Coach drops. Its really about getting some early sales and giving people options while they still have money. And like Kilby Block Party announced their line up at the beginning of December last year. Theyll likely do the same again and thats going to have a mix of Cruel World and JLH acts. Gv put Cali Vibes on sale and then announced Flog Gnaw and Cruel World within 72 hours.

A month ago I saw her do a 65 m set. No encore break, barely any talking and just straight singing with minimal tapes doing all the stuff you want to hear. She was dropped by her label so is now playing nice. I have seen those past gig videos where things went sideways.

deerhunter is done sadly, i could have sworn i read something saying bradford no longer had any interest in music since the pandemic

Bummer. I was just revisiting Digest today too and I forgot what a run they had ... Monomania is such a great album too.

so is Grizzly Bear but Ed recently said they’re doing shows next year apparently.
Bloc Party doing 20 years of Silent Alarm likely in more than one place
That feels a bit weird since they did a pretty extensive 15-year Silent Alarm tour. Give me a Weekend in the City anniversary tour, dammit! (Yes, I know it would likely be mediocre given Bloc Party's live show track record. Yes, I would still go.)

I have LCD at Brookside burnout, and I bet they'd feel a bit weird too playing 3 different festivals on the same golf course within 3 years. A future JLH candidate, sure, but let's give it some time!

Holy crap, so interesting to see someone else had this exact same experience at that Stars show at the Fonda. I had just off memory:
-When my wife went to the bathroom in between sets, a couple squeezed into her space and started boxing me out; when I told them my wife was coming back, they ignored me -Two pairs of people around me loudly yelling conversation to each other during Kevin Drew and Ben Harper playing "Sweetest Kill" -Woman behind me (who was not standing behind me in between sets) telling me during the show to move because I was tall (while the music was going on). And when I said I've literally been standing in that spot for 90 minutes so wasn't going to move, she boxed me out and pushed in front of me to purposefully drive a wedge in between my wife and I until we moved behind her two minutes later
Just the rudest crowd, I left wondering if I should stop seeing live shows as much because people are assholes

Sounds like entitled indie people who legit never go out.

Ah, so it was the whole venue then and not just my group getting unlucky everywhere we moved around to! We dealt with: - Extremely intoxicated woman who kept falling over on people, who kept blaming it on her "back issues" - Mom who kept moving her 10-year-old son in front of everyone until they were up front, and this kid looked bored out of his mind and clearly didn't want to be there - Girl who was shout-singing every lyric so loudly that everyone around her moved away so they could actually hear the band (we ended up in 3 different places during the show cause we encountered assholes everywhere we went)
Combined with the PJ Harvey crowd earlier in the week being no picnic either (only half the crowd had arrived by the time she started; the other half slowly trickled in from the bar over the next hour and were too drunk/stupid to figure out where their seats were, constantly interrupting every attendee but not the ushers for some reason), all the worst people you encounter at shows were out in full force last week in LA for some reason. I don't know what was in the air.

These are always the first people to say "concert etiquette is dead" lol
