I'm not sure I agree. Of course if I'm alone here we can move things around, but I feel like just considering his genre, they're going to want to have some more high energy counter-programming in the Sahara vs Frank. Nothing crazy big of course, but I feel like some act akin to Two Friends makes a lot of sense vs Frank.
Sahara has been active during the Sunday headliner every year for a while now. I’d expect it to stay that way, especially with a slow Sunday headliner.
Sahara was dark during SHM/Weeknd last year and the high energy conflict was Blessed Madonna+Honey Dijon in Mojave.
Can someone ask the old lady from Egypt what she thinks of Lana Del Rey headlining Coachella so we can know whether the festival has redeemed its reputation as a laughingstock worldwide

I’d call this the exception that proved the rule, given the nature of the headliner (and Denzel’s set went into the SHM set a bit, albeit not by much)
I also like Overmono closing Gobi on Friday. It makes sense after Chem Bros
I made this happen, but looking at it, I'm not sure if we're going to have all electronic to close Friday night vs Bad Bunny. Thoughts?
I could see something like Blondie or FKJ in a tent against Bad Bunny with everything else electronic. With electronic being 34% of the lineup some things you can’t avoid lol
personally don’t think Overmono are billed for it, I think they’ll give people more variety
id no doubt go see Overmono over Good Bunny
I'd see them over Bad Bunny too, I just don't think it actually makes sense for where they are billed, especially given what else we have playing at that time. Personal feelings notwithstanding

Yves Tumor 2019 slot. They were billed similarly
I would be very happy with them closing after Chemical Brothers, but could also see them playing the Gobi around sunset similar to the Blaze in 2018 if they are in fact outside of the Yuma.

Some notes on current mocks, I have many issues with Saturday:
* I don't think we're going to get Diljit Dosanjh in the Gobi. The guy plays arenas and has a big band + group of dancers on stage with him, and he's billed quite high. He doesn't seem to have much of a light show or anything like that. I think he'll get a showcase on the main or outdoor around 3-5pmish. * I think our Saturday outdoor is way too spaced out. None of those three artists to close out the main need the Outdoor to be silent. In 2015 when Jack White didn't close the main, the Outdoor was going the entire time. * Chromeo played late afternoon on the main last time they played, and it was weird. I'm not sure why they'd book them to do essentially the same thing again. I'd kinda like them to go where Yaeji is in the Sahara, move Yaeji to Diljit's spot, move Diljit to Chromeo's spot. * Giving Sofi Tukker a worse time slot when they last played, despite a higher billing now, seems...odd. If we add more overlap between outdoor and main, they could go after Boygenius on the Outdoor.

Big thing that stuck out to me is that Alex G seems too early. Doesn’t do huge streaming numbers but critical darling and the fact that he played guitar for Frank Ocean might bring some extra eyeballs.

ah you're right -- I remembered Yves being higher in 2019, but I'm wrong on that one.
Chromeo makes sense in the Hot Chip/Caribou spot in The Mojave to me.
Agreed, but we'd have to move either Underworld or Prydz out in that case (I still think Underworld Sahara is fine given they played there last time, but Mojave is better).
Prydz could absolutely play on the other stages we've talked about him on, but the new Mojave can absolutely handle it and may very well be the best place for it. there's a reason lots of people disagree about this one

Exactly, yeah. Nobody seems to agree on what kind of setup he needs in terms of overhead but when I look at those videos, Mojave makes more sense for its depth than Sahara, given the layout. Neither would surprise me, though.
If you're thinking in terms of 2017 though, the current Mojave is the 2017 Sahara.
