120bpm is pretty slow. figured theyd be a slight bit snappier like gorgon
I don't really remember the specific BPMs but isn't house music pretty much exclusively 120-128 BPM? I used 120 as it's rounder and 8 BPM is pretty small.
Anyway, I wasn't actually timing the tempo or anything, my point is that it was a house-tempo set (if not just a straight live house set). I definitely would not call 120 "downtempo" unless it was a qualifier like "downtempo techno" or something.

128 is like the golden standard. House music can definitely be lower bpm but 120 and below is getting quite slow (8bpm might not sound like a lot but it’s pretty significant). But anyways, as I probably shoudlve to begin with, I checked out some of their live stuff and it definitely seems worth checking out, if for a partial set at least!

Glorilla in the outdoor sun day 3 seems dreadful. They used to love putting rap on the outdoor sun in the early 2000s even 2010s but I feel like they have mostly stopped

Should we move her back into the Sahara, move IDK out and just bump Pi'erre down?

Run the Jewels literally last year, Push the edition before that, Stormzy in 2017. I don’t think she has to play there, and what Mikey proposed is fine with me, but she can definitely play there.
Am I the only one who thinks Metro's crowd will br way too big for the Sahara? He just screams night on the Outdoor to me, or even before Burna Boy on Main

The Sahara is huge, and I don't think Metro is nearly as big as some of the acts that have played there before.

I like this idea
And to one about RTJ, Push , Stormzy (I’ll even include Nav) I said mostly stopped. They do keep doing it but before hip hop became so prominent that was the only place they would put them and it sucked lol

Nah. Sahara is huge and while the metro album was great it’s not like it’s still buzzing uncontrollably like the hottest thing out. The only reason it would be on main would be if drake or Weeknd show up but then it’s a daytime set and that’s not as cool. I’m sure he will be fine in the Sahara with 21, Gunna, Yachty, Future and if Weeknd comes out for 2 songs it won’t be jammed pack more than any other Poppin Sahara set

Metro is a tough one because according to his tweets he's working hard to make this a special set, and considering he's the biggest hip-hop producer of the past 10+ years, I imagine that he will be on a big stage at prime time. The problem is that Friday night is already a clusterfuck so idk how to schedule it
Maybe if Main went Blondie > Metro > Gorillaz > Bad Bunny With the Outdoor scheduled Kaytranada > Burna > Chem Bros
Idk but I wouldn't be shocked to be him on Main because other than Kendrick, pretty much every other superstar rapper is on the table for a possible guest appearance

I would so gladly take this with Chem Bros after Bunny. Hope to be able to catch Magdalena Bay and Angele as well. I think Burna will be main though. something like: Metro Boomin > Burna > Gorillaz > Bad Bunny on main Angele > Blondie > Kaytranada > Chem Bros on outdoor
is what i'm expecting

Why not? They play entirely different styles of music.
No they don't it's pretty similar. Well, Foushee is very all over the place in which genres she tackles. But she also does a similar rock to Willow. Foushee's 2022 album is like 85% rock.

It's not really about Metro's own albums, it's about all the songs he's produced over the past decade. Future, Drake, Weeknd are already 3 headliner caliber names that would draw people to Metro's set, in hopes that they show up. Factor in that Metro is really the only huge mainstream hiphop act on the line up, people will get their fix at his set. At least that's what I think. But I do agree that Friday is a cluster. The only ways to make it happen is either have the Outdoor active during Bad Bunny or moving Chems elsewhere. Also Future's set was mostly during daylight and felt fine
Metro obviously taken more seriously than Khaled, but Khaled was peak meme material in 2017 with huge name recognition.
Khaled also teased huge guests and said his set "would make history". I do think Metro will have bigger guests and put more effort into it, but Khaled was trying to build hype for the show.
We spent so much time in here fighting about whether or not he was too big to play the Sahara and he ended up...in the Sahara. And it was totally fine.
I know the hype for guests will be high, but the guests for whom the hype will be huge is pretty much exactly the same as the guests who would see Big Sean/Migos/Post Malone/YG etc in the Sahara...it's not like guests who would not have seen any other big rappers in the Sahara will be flocking there for this.
The Sahara will be packed, probably even overflowing, but that's where he'll be.
I think Metro can do Sahara, might even want to do Sahara, but there's a significantly better case for Metro being outside the Sahara than DJ Khaled. Khaled was and always has been a meme, and that limited his reach; Metro is not that

Yeah OK sure. I get that.
I'm just trying to say that we heard these same arguments (the hype for his guests will be too crazy for the Sahara) before with him and he ended up Sahara.
He's a very popular second line hip-hop act that didn't make the "Top 3" of his day. Since the new Sahara was introduced, only two other names that fit that billing/criteria played out of the Sahara - Cardi B and Vince Staples (both main stage in 2018). All the others (Big Sean, 21 Savage, Migos, Post Malone, YG, Baby Keem) played Sahara.

I agree with you, just don't want to make it a hard-and-fast rule where it's not justified

I think Khaled being a meme made a better case for outside the Sahara. He had way more social equity than Metro does now. Relying on guests for stage size is just not a good prediction strategy. Keem was fine bringing out Kendrick. Kanye brought out Ye. I highly doubt we get future, Drake and Weeknd. I bet only one per weekend if that. And it’ll be fine for those 8 mins. Metro alone couldn’t headline rolling loud so I think that’s a fair enough reason to place him in the Sahara.

Totally and I'd be more open to it on another day but I just don't see how there is room even at this point. Unless, of course, the Chem Bros end up in the Sahara.

What are we thinking in terms of things he could do to make the set special? Watching some of his live sets has honestly really turned me off - dude goes dj Khaled levels of mic action.
We know he’s gonna bring out big guests, that’s cool. Does he do… a live band? Full orchestra section? Would love to hear people’s thoughts and predictions.
