What is the reasoning for wanting to Bjork to the Outdoor? The last time a sub played anywhere but the main, it was The Knife on Friday of 2014, and that made a ton of sense (+ with Outkast being the headliner).
Think about the story you know that you just referenced a few pages ago, think about the act that Paul envisioned originally before Frank, and then think about if you believe Bjork was booked at the last minute.
Unprecedented yes but also we’ve never had an “official” sub before this year and maybe that means they take more of a Glasto approach letting them close out the outdoor with a full/longer set. Not wedded to that idea but clearly they are fiddling with their pattern a bit.
The reasoning PT didn't want the undisclosed act to open for Frank was because that act was also R&B (I know I didn't make that clear in my comment, but that was the main reasoning so I've been told). Considering Kali Uchis is also an R&B act, I don't think what you've proposed will be the case.....Also the Fisher + Lake confirmation

damn really excited for the shuck who lives in the alternate universe where Frank, SZA, and Rosalía all play on the same day, making the Björk at #4 prediction correct
I know we have the confirmation but it still seems weird to me that Porter would get Sunset Main and not Outdoor, instead of f+l. Just with him having played Main last time, and how big house music and fish+lake are right now, thought they were a lock for the sunset main slot when the lineup first dropped.

fishlake isnt really...the vibe for sunset main. Porter definitely fits that cat.
There had been some confusion regarding Sleaford Mods and which day they are playing, but it now looks like they've been moved to Sunday on the lineup page.
Which is a bit weird, taking an act from an already empty Friday, and adding it to Sunday, a day that already had as many acts as Sunday last year, but oh well.

maybe they’ll add more acts on Friday? Or maybe given the amount of bigger acts, the set times will be a bit longer than usual (for Gorillaz and The Chem Bros, for example)

Longer set times won’t get us anywhere near a normal number of acts. We’re way short (if memory serves we’re like 30 short on the poster compared to past years).

Definitely not short by 30, if anything the poster has just about the right amount (especially if we're considering longer set times for the subs).

This makes 2022 appear to be an outlier. Perhaps with the return from the pandemic, last year's lineup had a higher than average amount of artists on the lineup due to them trying to squeeze in artists who were supposed to play in 2020.
So when trying to predict set times, we probably shouldn't be using last year as a template since it had an abnormal amount of artists and instead look at 2019 as the latest example.

Interesting. So since we're now using 2019 as reference instead of last year, I have a couple thoughts/questions.
Friday 2019 had 8 Sonora acts compared to our 6 (since moving Sleaford Mods to Sunday). Also, 2019 Friday Outdoor didn't have a poster act start until 3. So should we move someone (either Desert Cahuilla Bird Singers, The Comet is Coming, BENEE or Magdalena Bay) into the Sonora, and Gabriels into a tent?
Sunday (I was already working on this) I took off the opening slot on the Main Stage and moved Sudan Archives to the Mojave. I guess we should kill the Outdoor opening slot as well and move Stick Figure to the Mojave?

Maybe Jupiter & Okwess could get moved into the Sonora on Friday?
Gabriels I'd keep on the Outdoor. Having a third line artist (Wet Leg) being the first billed performer on that stage seems pretty unlikely. Wet Leg or Tobe Nwigwe could get moved out instead to the Mojave late or Blondie to the main.
Same with Sunday, the opener should probably be someone billed lower than the third line so I'd keep Stick Figure there and move someone else out. Maybe GloRilla?
I love this mock for the most part Very minor "hmmm idk's" are just Christine being on so early/main opener, Doechii on main might be a little weird, Metro placement (I know I know) But yeah looks great!
Fri: Uncle Waffles -> Doechii -> DOMi & JD Beck -> end of Tobe Nwigwe -> Blondie -> end of Burna Boy -> Gorillaz -> Metro Boomin -> Bad Bunny Sat: Hiatus Kaiyote -> Flo Milli -> UMI -> Rosalia -> half of BLACKPINK or Marc -> Charli XCX -> Calvin Harris Sun: Sasha Alex Sloan -> Sudan Archives -> Willow -> Kali Uchis -> Bjork -> Frank Ocean
Christine early on the Main actually makes sense to me. He's billed lower than he was in 2019 (pretty uncommon to say the least) and that's a spot that isn't prime real estate that also doesn't feel like a huge demotion. I still think Mojave in the 6-9pm range makes most sense, but if not there, this is where I'd have Christine. And Christine is an incredible live act who can rock that spot.
My random nitpick is that I cannot see any possible world where GloRilla plays the Mojave at all. Of all the female rappers on the lineup, feels like she has the most momentum at the moment. Sahara still feels like the most obvious bet, but if she's not there, then I'd take daytime on the main before a Mojave set, easily.
The new Christine shows feel way closer to a cabaret act and it’s hard to imagine seeing it on either stage; honestly this feels like it could work even as a later in the day/night time Gobi act?

She’s playing a tent at night. Would be good counter programming against Fisher x Chris Lake IMO, that could start right after Bjork ends.

100% agree. Glo in Mojave feels weird...could probably switch Glo and Boris tbh.

yeah no way that show will be on Main. but I don't think they're going to put him anytime after Bjork as a sacrificial lamb, just don't think they would've booked things that way. Back to thinking Mojave sometime between 6-9 personally

I realize I referred to him as she and feel shame. That said, he’s played 3 times now since 2016, and likely not going to get a feature set time like he did in 2019. I would think he would be more likely to fill the set time gap noted above more so then someone like Jai Paul who will also not be playing against Bjork and likely at night.
I also don’t think playing the Mojave or Gobi during an extended gap on the main is going to be a bad spot to play, regardless of who the counter programming is. Yes some devoted Frank fans who would have liked to have seen Chris could choose to skip, but casual Frank fans aren’t going to care that they’re a little behind the first row of speakers if they choose to see the majority of Chris in between sets.
I do think at least one of GloRilla or Latto will end up outside somewhere, but could also easily move IDK or P'ierre into a tent to fit Glo in the Sahara I honestly think A Boogie could end up in the Mojave as well. We usually get a couple 2nd liners in there

agree, I just think Christine is someone whose audience will get cannibalized by Bjork and Frank, and a ton of people who would’ve made the trip over there before Bjork would just decide to stay. I don’t think he needs to be prioritized, as much as I think that specific slot maybe isn’t a fit, where it totally would be one of the other days.
Definitely not someone we need to clear it out for. Like, a 2manydjs conflict would make a ton of sense
