Have we ever had an act come so close to repeating their prior set time exactly (like, within an hour, same stage, outside of something like a repeat top-3 act)? Outside of the Yuma/Sahara, where that sort of thing happens by default, I can’t think of many examples, but if you can I won’t fight it.
Caribou was within 50 mins of their 2015 set time last year, but it had also been seven years since they played, and that time worked great for them in 2015. I dunno.
- Duke Dumont played quite literally the exact same slot the last two times he's played
- DJ Snake closing the Outdoor within an hour of his previous time twice
- Blood Orange played almost the exact same slot the last two times he's played
- Tame Impala played within an 30 or so minutes of the same slot between 2011 and 2013
- Richie Hawtin played the same Yuma closing slot twice
- Mac DeMarco played about two hours compare to his previous slot on the same stage
Only looked into this for about 5-10 mins, but it has happened before.
Blood Orange is a particularly compelling comp, I didn't understand that set time the first time he played and really didn't understand why they brought him back to do it again. Fair enough. Stick Pusha in that shitty mainstage spot!
I'd still try to get Wet Leg in a similar spot though. Moving them to where Tobe Nwigwe is would be perfect honestly, there'd be something nice about them leading into Blondie. Where Angele is would work, too.
Finished making a bunch of changes to the clashfinders. It's a shame that generator I had been using for years to make those mocks totally stopped working...
not quite the same but DJ Snake closed the Outdoor in both 2017 and 2019 and I remember being surprised by that at the time
What are some reasons you were surprised? those were some of Dj Snake’s peak years in terms of festival billing if im recalling correctly. They’ve also placed various mainstream electronic acts there, like Axwell/\Ingrosso, Jack U, Zedd, etc
it's just rare you see the same artist play the same stage and time, especially since he had literally just done it 2 years prior
DJ Snake closing outdoor was not surprising in and of itself, I have been to Coachella before lmao. but I figured in 2019 he'd either go Main with a bunch of special guests or play the new giant mega Sahara
So this guy on Reddit noticed that the acts on the schedule feature of the app randomly reorganized in a way that he is positive is related to the schedule. Like they uploaded the schedule on the backend and then the acts re-ordered.
Then, it went back to normal but he did take some screenshots for what he believed is Friday/Saturday/Sunday night. I am pretty unconvinced and I'll explain why, but this is who he had as the "last" acts of the day.
This, honestly, seems so fucking plausible to me. Gorillaz --> Bad Bunny on main, Chem Bros closing outdoor, Yves Tumor closing Gobi/Mojave with the other shut down for the headliner, Jamie Jones --> Dombresky in the Sahara - reminds me of Friday 2019 when 4th line Kayzo and 6th line Nora En Pure closed the tent down, and then Idris closing the Yuma. If it was just this group, I'd be completely convinced.
SATURDAY - BLACKPINK, Labrinth, The Breeders, Calvin Harris, Rosalia, Hot Since 82, Keinemusik, Tale of Us
This one is a stretch to me. Some of it looks pretty obvious...BLACKPINK on main --> Labrinth on outdoor --> Calvin on main is not what we have but is not out of the cards at all. The Breeders in the Gobi at night, OK, sure, great counter programming against BLACKPINK. But then, if this is the order they're playing like Friday, Rosalia where after/during Calvin? She's confirmed for main. And Hot Since 82 vs Keinemusik vs Tale of Us is ridiculous - it's not at all impossible that it could be Mojave vs Yuma vs Sahara, but that just seems like a ridiculous fanbase conflict especially with Calvin on the main at all - just electronic all around?
SUNDAY - Willow, Bjork, Frank Ocean, Porter, Gordo
This one also a stretch to me. Supposedly we have confirmed that Lake/Fisher are not just playing the outdoor but closing it...so assuming this is Willow --> Porter on the outdoor, which would be totally plausible, that nixes that. Unless Willow is Mojave and Porter is Sahara but that seems...I don't know. We have Gordo in the Yuma mid-day but maybe he's closing the Yuma, or even Sahara closer.
In short, if he just posted Friday, I would completely believe it. The other two days though seem kind of off. Fun to at least speculate about, though.
Most of it seems totally plausible. Specifically, it is Rosalia, the three way conflict between Hot Since 82/Tale of Us/Keinemusik, and Lake/Fisher not appearing when we know they are set to close (although I think they'd be more fun in a Disclosure sunset to night outdoor slot) that are throwing me off. I'd buy the rest of Sunday if not for Lake/Fisher.
Yves Tumor being thrown to the headliner wolves twice is rooooough. If I were them, I'd never come back.
While I don't really buy that those reflect set times (mostly because it seems like they're changing the times up until the last minute, so what would be the point of inserting them into the app already?), if they ARE correct Yves Tumor could be in a tent during the gap between Gorillaz and Bunny. That would be pretty nice for me actually, I could catch a bit before heading over to Chems.
The key thing is that the person was looking at the "My Schedule" section, so there are presumably artists they had not added to "My Schedule" who could still be in there. i.e. Yves between Gorillaz and Bunny, then someone else in either Gobi/Mojave after that.

Saturday is the only one of these that is hard to buy for me, and I think it's reconcilable by BLACKPINK playing earlier than we thought they would. It would be unprecedented, but having two acts on the Main after BLACKPINK makes this work. I don't think HS82 closing Mojave and Tale of Us closing Sahara (or vice versa) is impossible to imagine, especially if Calvin is closing the Main. That would also route everyone who doesn't want dance music to The Breeders, which would be awesome in a lot of ways.
The thing that makes this Saturday hard to imagine is I would have no clue where to put Prydz. Although this could just be thrown off by this person not having very many acts selected in the app, and thus not showing on their schedule.
The key thing is that the person was looking at the "My Schedule" section, so there are presumably artists they had not added to "My Schedule" who could still be in there. i.e. Yves between Gorillaz and Bunny, then someone else in either Gobi/Mojave after that.
This is part of why I'm inclined to believe it. Not all of the acts would show there if this person didn't have all the closing acts added to their schedule.
That and the fact that they clearly undid whatever was making it show like that on the app. They have historically not given a shit about fixing stuff that was displaying wrong on the app, so not sure why this would be different unless it was at least partially right.
I'd camp the main that Saturday from Hiatus to Rosalia. Would love the no conflicts between HK, Charli, and Rosalia. Would hate having to be on main all day lol
Oh I see - it was just his selected artists that were arranging that way, not all of them. Still, Saturday looks way wonky to me but that could explain the absence of Fisher & Lake on Sunday.

Yeah I think one of the bigger "is this legit or not" x-factors would be a full list of who the person had added to their schedule. If we knew everyone, there might be some obviously wrong outliers. Or alternatively, maybe they've has only added the kinds of acts that are going to end up at night, so it ends up looking like "oh maybe this is the schedule" when in reality it's just a randomized list of a small number of acts.
A bit confused about the whole guy on Reddit seeing the potential schedule leak....I might be totally misunderstanding, but should we ask him what his personal schedule looks like to see if that all matches up? Or are we reading too much into that?

Maceo Plex in the Gobi makes no sense to me. Think there's space to squeeze him in the Sahara if Yuma is full. Sahara had 11 acts on Friday last year and we only have 9 scheduled in there currently
