Maceo Plex in the Gobi makes no sense to me. Think there's space to squeeze him in the Sahara if Yuma is full. Sahara had 11 acts on Friday last year and we only have 9 scheduled in there currently
I’m once again asking for Maceo to be put back into the Yuma and Nora En Pure to be moved to the Sahara

i support that since nora was in sahara last time around. still think sahara feels a little light tho *cough*

Last year was an outlier with an abnormal amount of artists on the lineup. 2019's Friday has just 9 poster artists in the Sahara.

Maceo played the Gobi in 2018, and while I wasn't at his set, my understanding is he played to a somewhat sparse tent. The lineup last year on Friday had 10 more acts compared to Friday this year, so that's a big part of why most of these stages start so late and why they look kind of empty early on.
Chromeo is definitely wrong right? Mainstage 2018; just feels weird for such a fall for them. Maybe they close Mojave?
Chromeo themselves have fallen off quite a bit since 2018. Did direct support for them at a show in SF in November to a 900 person cap crowd and it barely sold out.

there were people at Maceo in 2018, but it wasn't full at all. think The Avalanches from last year.
separately, I continue to think we should have stuff starting a little bit earlier and thinning out later than we currently do. I've already made this case for Sunday (which I like what you did with Mikey), but Friday has its own case IMO. There's a bunch of big guns at the top of day, including Bad Bunny who is easily the closest they've come to booking a Beyoncé-type megastar (the popularity is at least comparable, although other factors make me give the edge to Beyoncé that year for crowd interest/size), Gorillaz who could've headlined on their own, the biggest hip hop act of the weekend in Metro, Chemical Brothers who are likely to get an extended set, Blondie who they'll probably set up nicely on the Outdoor or Mojave...there's a lot of big draws (or in the case of Chems/Blondie, decent draws that will occupy a bit more space than usual) on this day.
I'm not saying it will be as extreme as Friday 2015 or Saturday 2018, but I think there's a good case for stretching the Gobi/Mojave out to start an hour earlier and be mostly alternating by the time we're post 10:00pm, rather than mostly overlapping.

Gotten pretty into Nia Archives and Uncle Waffles lately...we've got both in the Sahara, how confident are y'all in that vs Yuma for them? (I have no clue personally)

I know UMF is smaller capacity than Coachella, but the size of the stage that HOLO is setup on appears to be way smaller than the Mojave. I’m cautiously optimistic that this is back to being a possibility.

I haven't been to Ultra in a decade, but the Mega Structure was around the same size as the modern Mojave, but its ceilings were much higher.<script src="chrome-extension://ldinpeekobnhjjdofggfgjlcehhmanlj/inpage.js" id="stacks-wallet-provider"></script>

Prydz in Mojave vs Calvin on main is the dream scenario for me. Lets me do all of BLACKPINK and all of Prydz and I think vs Calvin is the only way he could play Mojave. I heard Lane 8 almost overflowed it last year.

Chromeo is premiering their new live show at their San Francisco tour stop on the 20th. Seems weird to not debut the show at Coachella. Maybe they don’t have an ideal set time too show off the new show. I imagine an outdoor daytime set is probably happening.
Was interested in catching Calvin mostly because I'm a big fan of his Funk Wav Bounces albums, but seems like he's mostly played the same set for years now? And doesn't touch FWB2 and only does Slide from FWB1.. really hoping he switches it up for Coachella

They specifically said theyre debuting the show there period?

Someone (Truevine I think?) said they heard Nia Archives will be Sahara, and I think if not Sahara, a tent makes for sense than the Yuma based on her current set up. I suppose she may be doing just DJ set, but I have no clue.
Uncle Waffles, the main reason being we would be moving someone out of the Yuma to make room for her, and I'm not sure who we would, or why it makes more sense to have her in there vs the Sahara.

total wildcards as far as I can see. they've never booked an act like Uncle Waffles, but amapiano is definitely club music. That said, the billing makes me think probably not Yuma, but could be Yuma, Sahara, or even Gobi (Mojave feels unlikely).
with Nia Archives, a lot depends on what show she has. if it's a DJ set, hard to imagine it not in the Yuma. a live show could still be in the Yuma, but could also land in the Sahara or Gobi (Mojave feels unlikely here too). Billing is a closer case here IMO, it's either mid to late afternoon Yuma or early Sahara/Gobi.

I know it won’t happen, but it would be cool with all the big name electronic acts likely playing the outdoor this year that they add some additional lighting production throughout the crowd. (Each extra speaker tower has lighting or lasers on it and what not.)
