I’m fine with remembering most people from my past. Even bad times can be good learning experiences. So this is more just a song that reminds me of a person who I have less than good memories of. For about three months (that felt like three years) the guy playing saxophone in this video (the one that’s not Tim Burton) lived with us when he was going through a divorce. We are not people who tolerate a roommate very well, and it went pretty much as expected.
It's December 2012, and I'm riding the bus home with a girl from a school event. We're in the back of the bus, by ourselves. It's been a long day. We're several hours late coming home from the event.
We've been friends more or less all of high school at this point, and the romantic feelings are there; neither of us wants to admit it. There's a voice in the back of my head saying "Ellie this isn't gonna end well."
Even when she asks directly--"do you want to be my [partner]," I say no. I'll say no standing in a pool in Atlanta, not far from where I'm sitting. This all happens long before I realize I'm Alexandra Eleanor Parker, or I even know any of you.
Back in the bus, she slips an earbud in my ear and turns on a song we both love.

This is actually a song I like with a number in it. I'm on the wrong day, wrong challenge and everything. Gonna have to think about the Summertime one.

Me & my first (and only to date) girlfriend’s “song.” Just represents to me a time of my life where I completely lost sight of my own personal goals and taking care of myself because I over invested in another person. Still trying to right the ship to this day even though it’s been over 4 years now since we broke up.
