1. Odesza, the best electronic act of the 21st century, and even better live than on their mind blowing albums. 2. Portugal. The Man. As I said earlier, it's my 20th time seeing them. Best live rock band in the business rn. 3. Paramore, because This Is Why is the best album of the 2020s so far 4. Foo Fighters, Nirvana's more talented younger brother. The second best rock band of the 21st century, only behind Canadian legends Nickelback 5. Marcus Mumford. Sigh No More is one of my favorite folk albums of all time, right up there with Cleopatra. 6. The Band Camino. If they couldn't afford The 1975 this year, this was the second best thing! 7. MUNA. I don't really love their sound, but I can't let down my queen Phoebe Bridgers by missing their set. 8. The Revivalists, maybe the most relevant band on the card. Everyone knows Wish I Knew You, but their discography is so deep it's crazy. 9. Matt Maeson is the most underground indie artist I like. I can't believe he only has 4 million monthly listeners on Spotify! 10. girl in red for the Tok.

Lowlights (apologies for any of these that went too far, I have a tendency to say jokes that cross the lines a bit, and also got pretty riled up about wanting Covid restrictions to end at the point of time in which the vaccines were widely available & better treatments existed, because frankly my mental health was in a really awful spot and I needed socialization. I also struggle with moral grey area thinking, leading to a bit of an or nothing mindset that others might view problematic in some situations illustrated below.)

How does a mask impact your life negatively other than being annoying? If anyone should be complaining it is me and my sad lipsticks that never get worn!! Masks are literally the easiest “restriction”.
It prevents me from doing activities I love, such as playing sports, moshing, dating, eating at restaurants, etc. It's also just incredibly fatiguing to wear a n95 mask all day, I don't know if that's just a me thing because I'm overweight and don't have the best lung capacity or a universal experience. I also struggle with audibly speaking in an n95 mask, which makes stuff like playing board games with friends difficult. I mask everytime I go out now, but that means skipping all the above listed activities. Which I'm fine with doing to keep myself and others safe, it just feels increasingly that with being triple vaxxed I'm not really keeping anyone much safer by sacrificing these things. I just want clear guideance from public health officials on when such restrictions won't be necessary anymore, why is that to much to ask?
Not to engage in whataboutism, but rather just a genuine philosophical/ethical question , where does the responsibility of the individual to consume ethically start and stop? I’ve always just kinda operated under the assumption that there is no ethical consumption under capitalism. Like it’s hard to get work without supporting anti-gay Saudi oil tycoons, it’s hard to eat without supporting companies that inhumanly treat animals, it’s hard to do a job without directly contributing in some way to the exploitation of another person. Like all of us share the hobby of concerts, and tours are massive polluters contributing to climate change. Most of us just watched the World Cup run by people that let thousands of workers die and are also anti-lgbtq+ Most of us probably are wearing clothes made by practical slave laborers, and participating on this forum with a computer or phone also made by them. So someone help me understand how to pick and choose which unethical purchases to engage in. Like, I don’t get why this game is where people seem to be drawing a line in the sand on their unethical consumption. I want to support trans rights, that should go without saying. JKR’s beliefs of trans people are terrible and she deserves every bit of the stained reputation it’s caused her. But could someone in a polite way explain how playing this game is any different than the boatloads of other unethical things we do on a daily basis?
I haven’t bought the game, and probably won’t because I’m not much of a gamer, I’m just curious to hear some perspectives because I’ve always struggled with grey area moral thinking.
Each day, members of the forum will post their continuations to a story. The one with the most likes (so be frugal with your likes) at 845 am est the next day will be declared the official continuation to the story and added to a google doc of the story (I might just quote it in the thread if I can’t get around to updating the doc that day, or maybe I will need a co-editor for days I’m away). The process will repeat in perpetuity. In interest of allowing people to follow along, let’s try to keep submissions in the 1 sentence-1 paragraph range.

I’m a first generation college graduate The first concert I ever saw was The Black Keys w/ St. Vincent at 18 years old The top 5 concerts I’ve ever seen are: Foo Fighters (Richmond Coliseum 2017), Pavement (Primavera Sound 2022), Brockhampton (Bonnaroo 2019), Pup (The National 2019), & Green Day (Shaky Knees 2022) I lost 100 lbs before college then gained it back my senior year 🙁 The furthest away from Richmond, VA I’d consciously been (ie: not a trip before 4 years old) before my senior year of college was Washington DC. Hobbies include: poker, board games (Catan is my favorite), ultimate frisbee, chess, reading (just getting into again), Survivor (haven’t seen the latest season yet though), & making new music release playlists (top 50ish songs / month) Sports team: Golden State Warriors, New York Rangers, Queens Park Rangers, Atlanta Braves, Arizona Cardinals, US men’s national soccer team Favorite tv shows: Community, How I Met Your Mother, Cobra Kai, Outer Banks, Alice in Borderland, Avatar the Last Airbender, Naruto/Boruto (only read the Boruto manga, but it’s hella underrated), Person of Interest Goals motivating me rn: lose 125 lbs, earn a certification/learn some coding to break into a data analytics career, find a way to get my social battery & skills back after the pandemic that was particularly tough on me (OCD + having at risk household members + having just graduated college and not established an adult friend group yet), change being for 0 for 2020s in dating
