I haven't popped in here once this year, and the first post doesn't have a summary of confirmed/expected/rumored/etc. So....who do we think is playing?

Off the top of my head: Bar italia, Hatsune Miku, J Balvin have pretty reliable Reddit sources behind them. Peso Pluma said he was in talks in the newspaper. A French magazine said Justice was playing. MEDUZA and Purple Disco Machine hinted they were playing on social media (not together). Heilung and Jungle are playing Red Rocks near Coachella. Oneohtrix Point Never and Jon Batiste are fairly likely based on random tour date things I can’t quite remember rn. Dua and Tyler are speculated popularly as headliners for various reasons without a third really known one (and also it’s nowhere near confirmed for either).
Edit: oh yeah and young fathers are also def playing this.

bar italia and Hatsune Miku are confirmed, J Balvin, Justice, Peso Pluma, NewJeans have substantial rumors. Black Country, New Road, Young Fathers, Oneohtrix Point Never, look likely due to tour routing and dates. We dont know any headliners but some combination of Tyler, The Creator, Dua Lipa, Coldplay, SZA, is whats been thrown around.

Someone had said Travis Scott was put on the back burner for a bigger headliner as well.

According to Reddit, the most common names I’ve seen thrown around for headliners are Tyler, Travis Scott (who is now allegedly out), Dua, Lana, SZA, Talking Heads (idk if there’s any truth to this one).
My hunch is there’s something big in the works… not Taylor big but it’s been relatively hush hush this year imo.

Tbf they didn’t say bigger. Just the offer was rescinded.

This was true, but the offer has since been pulled.

Not that this is a determining metric, but current Spotify monthly listeners and first week album sales in the US for rumored headliners (excl. legacy acts):
Dua Lipa: 70.6M | 66,000 Tyler, the Creator: 31.2M | 169,000 SZA: 64.5M | 318,000 Lana Del Rey: 57.4M | 115,000
Coachella 2023: Bad Bunny: 77.1M | 184,000 Blackpink: 19.7M | 102,000 Frank Ocean: 30.9M | 276,000

Kind of puts into perspective how massive SZA is.
I think a look at the total sales for their last album rather than just first week would provide a better look. Dua wasn’t nearly as big when her last album came out as she is now. Likewise Bad Bunny didn’t have a massive first week, but that album was in the top 10 forever.
Cause Kpop and other things. If you did wanna look at it from a touring perspective they did do a stadium tour and now its getting into that realm that Coach headliners need to be capable of doing that in some capacity. Blink played 2 sold out nights at BMO stadium in La same as BP did last fall. Blink is at Sofi next summer and BP played st Dodger Stadium
1) they have a large rabid fan base willing to buy tickets based on BP headlining alone
2) strong live performance. Not a huge fan of the music but the show was stunning and mesmerizing
3) GV positions Coachella as a tastemaker event. They like to be ahead of the curve and ushering in new movements. The first booking of black pink was something of a watershed moment in K-pop’s crossover into western media, and their booking was an extension of that. Booking black pink to headline Coachella was a bold statement, just the way they like it.
Is your source the Reddit thread, or did you hear that info elsewhere?
I think he just means the band is coming back next year, but also apparently ghiz secret show also took place in September. Soooo….
Thanks, yeah I knew about the Sept show (was allegedly just with Brian - the drummer - not full band minus Vin). And I also know the poster was saying they might come back next year, not necessarily to Coachella. I'm just trying to determine if they actually heard about the show from a separate source, or just saw it on Reddit yesterday like I did, when a new poster with no previous posting history was claiming that Jesse played a show with Brian and Garrett (no Vin). I'm a big Brand New fan so just trying to figure out if there is additional credibility.

Oh my bad I assumed when you said Reddit thread you meant the Coachella confirmations Reddit thread lol.
