I might do a fact check on Mikey’s lineup scoop history later today just for fun, but even then it wouldn’t be as fun because he also does mocks and tries to keep up with all the schedule stuff. Truly a man of the people.
I actually tried doing this but even when I tried adding in a bunch of jokes it didn't work. Outside of the set time predictions (where it's clear he receives a lot of different info from a lot of different sources, and sometimes those sources are the artists/their managers themselves who can be inaccurate!) he's never claimed to have a whole lot of actual lineup scoops. The only ones he had for this year were that Sofi Tukker and LP Giobbi were playing, which both ended up being true. But it is clear that as DJ in California he knows a lot of industry people, and if you look through his posts here or on Reddit it's always clear when he's differentiating between something he knows or doesn't know. I feel personally biased about this too because we've interacted privately a few times to discuss mock graphics or stuff like that and he's always been a really nice and courteous guy. But overall...if he's as confident that the Stones are playing as he seems to be indicating, there's really no reason to doubt him.

Where did he post about the Stones? I think I missed it
Instead of our normal predictions game, can we force these eggheads to submit their lineup predictions Hunger Games-style where one winner survives and all others get the banhammer?

Not quoting it here because it's a big picture, but he posted this picture, which Coachella posted on their Instagram in 2013 when Stones rumors were at their peak that year (I'm not going back to find the original social media post but it was referenced a lot in the media around that time, including in this LA Times article which you can still see even with the paywall).
Can an artist not headline Glastonbury and Coachella?
no (most recently Billie Eilish did both in 2022) which is why I think that article is at least a little bit ridiculous, but I certainly believe its claim that both festivals made offers because they'd be stupid not to.
The friend who told me this (in the past week) isn’t someone who typically gives me scoops, so I’m hesitant to declare it 100% accurate, but they are a close friend of mine who knows how much I love Coachella and they do work with Dua’s team on a regular basis.

god damnit I was prepared to do a whole fact checking of your scoop history too, but it was only Chris Lake and Fisher both playing in 2019, which was true, and also their set times, which also ended up being accurate. Someone needs to get a funny username and make some outlandish claims to get me working again!
Bluntmaster 3000 has had 4/7 accurate scoops. As such, mathematically speaking there is now currently a 57% chance Tyler, the Creator is playing Coachella next year.

😂 I lurk regularly enough to know how much I would get roasted if I posted something that turned out to be false!

Stones, Dua, and Tyler is a fantastic top 3, and will be even more fantastic when every LN fest trots out their Post Malone, RHCP, Hozier, Pretty Lights combo for every other NA Festival
Last year, was there a heavily rumored artist that didn’t appear on the lineup at all?
I kind of have a feeling that will be Tyler this year
On that note, I feel like someone we’ve all counted out will be in. Like an Olivia Rodrigo or Zach Bryan or something
I'm gonna choose to believe Tyler is in because since he started releasing music in 2009, he has dropped an album every single year. This is the first year he deviated from that schedule and I feel like the only reason he would agree to do that is if he got a headlining spot on the condition of him debuting his new era at Coachella.
Considering his career trajectory it wasn't if he would headline, it was when. And this year makes tons of sense.

Olivia added via set times drop. I dont think theyre going to want to set another precedent of just fucking with the radius clause that way. Everyone wins doing it that way.

And the undercard that has acts you wont see anywhere else on the continent.

I hope the RTTD slot isn't an EDM exclusive thing. If Dua and The Rolling Stones are guarantees, I'd rather have Tyler and Lana fill the last two spots. That'd be a pretty good balance of legendary, trendy and quality.
