Damn, just heard from a source why the lineup got delayed.
Headliners all picked their subs a few weeks ago but last weekend after the poster was done two of them changed their minds and want different subs. GV already booked their previous picks and signed the contracts so now they're trying to cancel the signed contracts and find new subs on short notice.
Sounds like a mess but when you give headliners complete control over subs it was bound to happen.
(I actually like Lana's music a lot and think she can headline a day, but as a #1 for a 120,000 person festival seems weak).
I think you are severely underestimating Lana's draw. Her fanbase has grown immensely from her last full US tour (2019) and is as rabid as Swifites or Beyhive. She also is a critic darling, was on basically in top 10 of every 2023 AOTY list. The only active touring acts available that are bigger would be Stones or Taylor. I'm not a huge fan, but she's clearly a #1 get, except for the 2 other acts I mentioned.
People conflate Lana the artist and icon with Lana the concert draw. She played Lolla and OSL last year in virtually the same spots that she did 7 years earlier.
Hey, if anyone is needed a flight still go look at Southwest. I just nabbed 2 round trip tickets from Indy to San Diego for $400 total. That is HALF what they usually are.
They also fly into Palm Springs for those sick of LAX

Oh shit, just got further clarification. Apparently the third headliner decided they didn't like the newly picked subs of the other two headliners and invoked their veto power, which pissed off the other two headliners (and their subs), who then retaliated by vetoing the third headliners sub. So GV is now scrambling to find three new subs while juggling the demands and veto power of all three subs.
If only GV could have avoided this by picking their own subs rather than handing that power to the headliners. But hey, policy is policy.

Okay I'll say it: it's time for a Coachella cum leak, even if its just a dribble. GV can only give us blue balls so many times before someone blows a load so messy that it scrambles the lineup placements.
Fisher x Chris Lake is up there for most overrated performance of all time
meh, i had a ton of fun and so did everyone else i went with and most of the people i was with didnt even know who they were. heard a lot of positive talk about it during and after the festival too.
overrated? maybe, but definitely not that high on the overrated list lol
best outdoor set ive seen is by far jamie xx. shit was absolutely mind melting. probably my favorite set of all time.

Re: Lana discussion, the reason she is a headliner (and arguably the biggest draw out of the alleged three) is because of that last festival run. She had a bigger crowd than Foo Fighters at OSL and her Lollapalooza crowd was insane. Her days were also the first to sell out immediately, same situation with Primavera now. She absolutely did not have a smaller crowd size than Boygenius; she played the later slot at that festival aka the headlining slot, a lot of the fans for Boygenius were camping for Lana. Be serious.
She also played Foro Sol two nights in a row (65,000 capacity) and BST Hyde Park (65,000 capacity) sold out. Her recent tour sold out in two minutes (~20k capacity venues) and she’s the second most streamed female only behind Taylor for almost 1 1/2 years now consistently.

okay the delulu isn't fun any more, it's just exhausting
Can someone ask the old lady from Egypt what she thinks of Lana Del Rey headlining Coachella so we can know whether the festival has redeemed its reputation as a laughingstock worldwide
Flying into Palm Springs direct is the way if you can swing it. So worth it
If it was just me, that is what I would do. However I go with a few people on here and one lives in SD. We all meet at her house Wednesday night and do our grocery shopping etc. then leave out together the next morning. It's our tradition... plus I like seeing the ocean. I miss living in SD

I rest my case.
yeah i havent talked here about the discussion around lana being able to headline or not but it just doesnt make any sense, u said what i had in mind, and her crowd at glastfest was very big too despite playing at the same time as the stones

Just looking at artists who can fill SoFi Stadium (since we’re looking at comparable to Taylor, Beyonce & The Rolling Stones): Travis Scott, Green Day (if making a deal with LN), Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, Metallica, Pink, Imagine Dragons, Kaskade, Billy Joel.
Do I want to see those artists? NO. But saying Lana is the only other stadium-level artist (which she has to play, btw) is false
Ok maybe I was a bit underestimating some acts ability to fill a stadium, but it's Coachella so I still stand by the need for the headliners to have "popularity + critical acclaim" which LDR has. Coachella gets torn to shreads in public comments and media if they book Green Day, Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, Metallica, Pink, Imagine Dragons, Kaskade, or Billy Joel as a #1 (regardless of how well each of them do at SoFi). Also SoFi actually being in LA helps them. Soccer moms aren't driving their kids out to Indio for an Ed Sheeran/Imagine Dragons music festival, but Inglewood is not a big deal
