Last year probably had my favorite subs ever, with 2017 in second place
It was my least favorite group of headliners but the rest of the card was nuts, and I can appreciate the fact the headliners were all massive even though I don’t listen to them.

J Cole will have no problem making amends when he says "my boy Dizzy was telling me how this is his favorite place in the world so I figured I'd come check it out" before they do First Person Shooter
I wouldn't be quick to suggest the Drake/J Cole delays are in any way about Coachella. Very plausible they might just want a few weeks between their last planned tour stop and any makeup dates they wind up having to do.
But I wouldn't be complaining. Despite what basically the entire internet says, I thought the 2015 Drake set was quite a lot of fun. The school play jungle setup? Hilarious self-own and sly tie-in to that album cycle. Seeing Madge strut onstage out of nowhere to "Express Yourself" (sonically, a very astute choice) and lay that smooch on Drake? Now that's the kind of Coachella moment they don't make anymore.
I’ll believe Coachella trying to sell out 225k or whatever tickets with no acts that are previously at consistent headliner level or stadium acts when I see it

Yeah. PT set a dangerous precedent. I'm gearing up for another 2019, but we'll see
What’s funny is I wish so often that I could’ve been at 2019 Coachella
I swear the vibes were weird that year. The (projected) headliners this year feel very similar to 2019's, although I doubt Doja would leave me as cold as Ariana Grande did. Still, I wouldn't replace seeing those Aphex and Four Tet sets for anything

2023 had the best subs but 2019 had the best overall undercard. The names down there are ridiculous. A handful of them are headliners now, and handful more are at least subs or top 3. Tbh, I would gladly accept "weaker" headliners in exchange for an undercard that crazy again.

Id rather have tame impala headline again than doja tyler or Lana.

I feel like a lot of folks here talk about 2019 like it was an s-tier year but it was one of my least favorites. My guess is we’re letting the Four Tet - Aphex Twin - Tame Impala run inform the fondness (which was admittedly incredible), but the rest of the weekend was just “good”.
On Friday, Rosalia to SOPHIE was the highlight for me, but nothing else really stuck out. I know friends who caught Blackpink’s debut, though it likely would have been lost on me.
Nothing on Sunday really sticks out for me in my memory. It was a lot of acts I’ve seen before (Gess, Blood Orange, Jon Hopkins, etc). I had fun, but it didn’t blow me away

I think 2011 was finally the year that broke me down and made seek a therapist. I was having so much anxiety trying to see everything it led to a bad trip and getting lost for most of Saturday.
I remember Friday being especially insane. Running back and forth between tame impala, yacht, interpol, cut copy, crystal castles, robyn, and chemical brothers (who were late because KOL were shitheads).

Stupid pyro antics. I was just glad chems were CRANKED. And glowsplosions galore.

Gasaffelstein, Parcels, Charlotte Ginsburg, Khruangbin, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Let’s Eat Grandma, jpeg mafia, The Frights, etc there are a ton more I loved that year. 2013 was still my favorite overall but that was an amazing undercard

Anderson>polo&pan>khaurangbin>janelle Monae>Charlotte Gainsbourg Was a pretty great Friday run. Also getting the future dark techno heavyweights Amelie/CDW right before they blew up. Lizzo right before her meteoric rise. 2019 wasn’t the outright best year by any means but had some really really solid stretches.
2013 was weird for me as it was stacked for my personal music tastes and I popped the Coachella cherry for my 3 best friends yet the sets aren’t the most memorable. 2012 run of The Weeknd -> Justice -> Modeselektor -> Dre and snoop and 2016 run of Rhye -> dj koze-> disclosure -> ice cube -> Rufus du sol -> zhu-> Guns N’ Roses are all time festival experiences for me.
If the news was out there elsewhere I might confirm it, but nobody on here, Reddit or elsewhere has spilled the beans on the last headliner. I'm happy to leak info I get from most sources, but not this one. See you all tomorrow
