BTS are too big for Coachella and I think that's it. Taylor is gonna do Beyoncé Homecoming at some point.
Taylor is bigger than BTS.
They're both selling out multi-date stadium runs so it's not especially important which is bigger but I think Taylor benefits more from doing a Homecoming-type event thing.
Friday: Dua Lipa Phoebe Bridgers | Fred Again! | Iggy Pop | FKA Twigs | Jorja Smith | Tems
Saturday: J Balvin Lana Del Rey | A$AP Rocky | Justice | Major Lazer | King Krule |
Sunday: Tame Impala Stevie Nicks | Skrillex | Beach House | KX5 | James Blake | Basement Jaxx
Returning to the Desert: The Black Keys
So Phoebe Bridgers 3 years in a row and she will get the same time slot again despite the sub billing. As much as they want to keep the spirit of indie rock alive theres other artists out there to try to elevate.
Phoebe was great solo and with boy genius, but based on the audience at both shows, there's no demand for her to be booked any higher. I think Cannons had a bigger crowd than boy genius.
Isn’t the 2024 Returning to the Desert slot obviously Disclosure?
They were originally booked for 2020 (their 4th time) and the potential for different special guests both weekends is there.
Just makes sense.
They just played last year. And they blew their wad on guests in 2016 already. If theres any criteria for this it seems to be somebody highly billed from at least 5 years ago since they were at the polo fields and you dont have room for them as a headliner but they get to close out an evening. And as mentioned there shouldnt have to be a total requirement for the artist to be a dj.

I actually just remembered that I caught a little bit of their uninspired, (obviously) forgettable DJ set at the Outdoor on livestream last year.
Pj Harvey has a new single coming, she’d be great in boygenius’ spot
She was incredible closing the Outdoor in 2011 and was the correct way to end the festival over Kanye (even though that was MBDTF Kanye), but if Bjork was as empty as I'm hearing this year, PJ Harvey these days would be a goddamn ghost town.
Rage, Dua Lipa, and Halsey headliners with Olivia Rodrigo, YYYs, and Playboi Carti as subs
Returning to the Desert: silver06
I think Halsey is a sub but she could be in an interesting one for Rage. Have Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross join her?
Returning to the Desert: NIN + Halsey. Or make that the bold font sub name under Rage. They can do an interesting set in 75 mins. NIN starts the set with a few bangers, Halsey follows and then they do like 5 songs together to end it.

I feel like Rage would be a quite underattended set if this year is any indication.
Yeah cause 100,000 people at one point watching Blink 182 is underattended. Youre really going to think Rage doing a show in their own backyard wont have a crowd?
With Beyonce, Kanye and Bad Bunny getting booked I'm positive there is nobody "to big" for Coachella at this point.
Swift is close. BTS doing 4 Vegas stadium shows is too big, though maybe 2024 demand has stabilized a bit.
I said this before and I'll repeat myself again. Liam saying bad stuff about Coachella mostly means the opposite. I guarantee he'll play Coachella if/when there's a Oasis reunion. Unless Glastonbury gets them for a one-off reunion. I don't see them tour anymore, but they would definitely play Glasto and/or Coachella.

That’s why selecting rage as the returning to the desert artist would make sense. Put them right before Travis Scott and you’d have a massive crowd for them and feel like they’d show t Scott fans how to rage properly!
Or you can have rage headline and put Travis as the returning to the desert artist. Doesn’t matter
