i’m 25 and I felt like most of the ppl i saw at coachella this year were close to my age, aside from a few exceptions like Vampire Weekend, Justive and No Doubt skewing a bit older. went w1
my group age is generally young 30s, at ISOKnock and LE SSERAFIM we felt like the oldest people in the crowd, then we went to Orbital and felt like the youngest folks in the crowd
Haha I was at these shows too - in the guest viewing area everybody was older and I felt good but then I turned around and everybody railing it looked like they were 17

We camped next to some college-aged frat boys this year and we overheard them talking about how they bullied a pack of teenage ken carson fans for being ken carson fans. Talk about youth on youth violence, I guess even 21 is old(er) for some artists.
Just to echo everybody else, Sunday was randomly crowded compared to the first two days. We parked in 2A around 2:15pm - the same time as the previous two days - and there were more cars, the lines to get into the camping area was way longer, and the line to get into the actual venue was way longer. I don't even think there was a line the first two days.
Also, Gobi seemed smaller. It's like they cut the back half off and gave it to Mojave lol.
Weirdly enough, the most "on substances" crowd we encountered was L'Imperatrice. A lot of the people around us were talking openly about how much they were rolling lol.
I guess our experiences were different. TBF, we only caught about 30 min of it so maybe it was just the right amount of time.
I caught half of OPN and about 20 minutes of charlotte. My brain was fried by the end of it (in a good way). And then no doubt got me up and going again only to be killed by gess (I’m dead now. I’m a ghost)
I have to say this was a miss from you. I'm glad my friend ended up steering us to her set. It was fucking great.
Glad you enjoyed the set! The set I saw didn’t have an elaborate lighting rig so I’m sure that helped create a dope atmosphere. I watched part of the live stream since I didn’t attend this year, and will be the first to admit that the Coachella show was better than the show I caught in Phoenix, however, as far as my personal taste are concerned I still don’t find CDW to be that good of a DJ. However, if you liked the Charlotte set then check out ØTTA! She plays a lot of psy trance and techno and I personally find her to be a better DJ as far as track selections are concerned.

Way too small for Barry. We got there right at start and were probably forty people back from the back of the tent. I was misled by someone from W1 who told me they got there 5 min before the set and were almost up front. Maybe the crowds were just that different?

I think the livestream/reddit bump was the influence this year for Barry. I was at Two Shell then wandered off to get more water and the terlet, walked back in the Gobi like 15 before and got a solid spot dead center about 10-15ft from the rail.

Was that W1 or W2? I think Barry will be back in a couple years and upgraded to Mojave at least.

Weekend 2 stuff will usually have bigger crowds for the small acts cause everyone watched so they could determine if their choices were justified or not. I got there 5 mins before start on W1 and the tent was loosely full and got slammed 10 mins in. If Barry comes back in a couple years he might just get like Sunset on Outdoor which would have a pretty big crowd cause youll have lots of people in the back just hanging out and vibing.

15 mins before and you were fine. 5 mins before it was really tightly packed, though. And then if you tried to come in halfway through the set you were probably ok, because the more chill first half led some folks to bail (at least W1).
Also I spent way too much time stopping and scrolling through some gobi videos from this year and last. I'm like 99% sure the audience area was about 12% less deep this year; I see 8 panels of depth on each side in an Overmono video (three open at the front, two closed, another open, and two more closed) and at least 7 in a Last Dinner Party video (four open at the front, three closed). The width and stage look to be the same. And closing off the back of the tent definitely makes it feel smaller (the sound booth was at the very back of the tent both years, though).

To the first section, I am getting the sense that BCS was way more crowded W2 then because we got there 30 minutes early, no joke, and the tent was already a third full. It felt full to capacity easily at around 10-15 minutes before and nobody left during the show. We know way more people that were outside the tent than in it.
To the second section, thank you for doing the math.

Haha the amount of daytime rolling this year was wild. There were so many people clearly rolling in that 6:00-7:00 window at Quasar each day I went, it was crazy. I wonder if a bunch of people were rolling for L'Imperatrice into Rufus? Even at 6:15 on Sunday when Diplo x Mau P started, it felt like the stage was sponsored by 5 Gum. One of our Safari neighbors dropped her Sunday pill right before Kid Cudi.

The amount of medical emergencies certainly matched. Didn’t go a single day this year without a serious incident happening close by.

And I think 2 deaths. The alleged day zero w2 that got mixed in with the firearm incident and somebody apparently found face down near Outdoor in the daytime. But confirmation is difficult cause I dont think it hit the papers.

Week 2 for me this year, and that Barry blurb. Think with that live show Barry’s going places. Deadbeat gospel live truly brought me to tears. And that crowd, oh that fucking crowd…

What's the average number of deaths each year?
Zero? They had the stagehand who fell and died in 2019. 10 years ago somebody from an overdose. Prior to that to my knowledge somebody had died offsite in 2011/2010 i think?

There’s the girl who fell off the ferris wheel, which then led to the Ferris wheel no longer being open air (understandably)

Oh Yeah. She didnt die though. Got caught and saved before it couldve been worse.
A girl died W2 of 2013. There's the stagehand but that wasn't during the fest right? And then I feel like a guy died in 2008 - and I remember there was this awkward moment on the old forums where his girlfriend or ex or something came to write a tribute, but then some other acquaintance of his came in to say he was a terrible person and they fought for pages - does anybody else remember that? It was wild.
That is all I know. A huge testament to GV and the medical team that this has been it, I feel like Bonnaroo has had signicantly more deaths.
Supre, what proof do you have of these two deaths? Because previously the stagehand and the 2013 death were all over the media within hours.

Thats why I said allegedly. There were 2 threads on the sub which mentioned incidents and nobody could confirm anything at all. no media coverage about it which you should be able to find records due to the info the local papers get from medical calls from the festival. They got the arrest info, they easily can get the medical stuff. Yeah, the 2008 one was offsite and I remember that hit the papers and they buried the part where it wasnt in camping. That thread was pretty crazy cause you also had the endless argument about Roger Waters being the goat performance along with the flying pig floating away.
Finally finished photos. Been a long 2 weeks and I feel fortunate to have had weekend 2 due to some personal stuff that went down. Hope you like em.
