what’s the difference with this or the late night things? Same thing to me.
with the late night shows, they have a solid lineage of the same name, just with different hosts. Late Night with Conan O'Brien is the same show as Late Night with David Letterman, and they never ran at the same time. There are multiple spinoffs of RH running concurrently. Like I have The Bachelor and TNG but I totally expect -ette and Deep Space Nine to go eventually

well I want all the housewives
This is a strong point idk what we do here. Maybe we should start the draft over.

I was gonna joke and say "well that'll cost ya (x) picks" thinking there were like 5 of them, but uhh there's 32!?
Yeah, what's sexually assaulting a half dozen women and pivoting to becoming a right wing hack, really
did he pivot to being right wing? When I saw him he had some very positive things to say about nb’s and LGBTQ
Last I heard - which was admittedly a while ago - he was making fun of school shooting surviros and gender nonconforming people, and his last two specials seem to indicate a lack of any real remorse or consideration towards what he did. Also I think he's been doing something with the guy who got fired from SNL for being a racist
I'd say at the very least he's courting an audience who's likely to believe that "cancel culture has gone too far" and that "you can't joke about anything anymore" and that the venn diagram between people who hold those beliefs and people who are right wingers and/or libertarians is pretty close to concentric circles
It’s still a pretty amazing show, it’s influence is easily found in titans like Atlanta and Bojack and despite him being awful, it’s an incredible achievement and still holds up.

You could say approximately the same thing about the Cosby Show

Doesn't mean either should be on TV.
Louie and Bill Cosby are not remotely close in terms of the bad human meter. And his show is one of the greatest ever whereas I wouldn’t crack a solitary smile if I binged the entirety of the Cosby show next week.

Just because you do or don't find something enjoyable doesn't mean it isn't well-made or hugely influential. I don't give a fuck about Friends but I'm not gonna sit here and suggest that it didn't fundamentally change television or that people are wrong for finding it funny
Whatever the magnitude of difference is between how bad a person Bill Cosby is and Louis CK is is approximately the same magnitude of difference in how influential and popular their shows were

I understand your valid point. I decided on drafting based on my enjoyment levels of shows and nothing else. Louie is like 100 levels more enjoyable than the Cosby show to me.

I don’t think anything here actually reflects his beliefs. I think he tried making an edgy joke that didn’t work for Parkland but haven’t seen any “cancel culture” jokes.

yeah, he hasn't courted the "cancel culture bad" audience i don't think, nor has he done any jokes about cancel culture. i've seen him twice since his cancellation, and watched him on multiple podcast appearances this past fall. anecdotal, but at least in mobile, al his audience was clearly mostly a bunch of hipster-y comedy nerds. he's just louis being louis, if anything it's remarkable how little he's changed. he's maybe a little softer around the edges and a little more sensitive then he was before.
the parkland kids bit was him in a club trying out something new, seeing how far he could push an audience, that's just how a lot of blue comics work out material. do a joke you know will turn the crowd against you, but in subsequent shows just keep pulling back until you find that line where you don't lose the audience. he ultimately scrapped the joke, maybe because he decided it wouldn't work, or maybe because it got publicized and that kind of ruined it. i know it was dark but the premise was funny, even though i'm ashamed to admit i found it funny (the shame is part of what makes it funny, because first you're laughing at the joke, then laughing at yourself because you feel guilty for laughing at the joke).
anyway i totally respect anyone's decision to not like louis ck for the reason he got cancelled, but it's incorrect to say he flipped to the right.
for the purposes of this draft, the Louie FX show was a legitimately great show. not sure if it will be a vote-getter though.
