My gut instinct is Thursday, Friday, or the late show Sunday. Man, if they had just put *one* of these in Knox Civic, they could've all but guaranteed every 4-day passholder got in, but honestly I'm not that worried. These five shows have a combined capacity of almost 3K. Three Stacks, as it were.
Had been considering the Just Charles show but 3 hours might honestly be a dealbreaker
I feel you. That said, there isn’t a ton going on in that timeframe and one of the better options of the day in general. I wonder if the whole show is seated or it’ll be a normal where people are lining the back standing. A standing three hour set just sounds painful to me these days.
Also, I want one of the secret sets to be a Three Stacks vs Shabaka flute off.
Such a great add! But honestly, if I was going, this news would have sent me into a minor rage. It’s not just the nickel and dime-ing (though there is definitely that too)… but now I’d have to commit to one or more slots that may end up being a nasty conflict, upon future rescheduling. Or throw away the $$$ if I decide to go with the alternative to Andre 3000 at those times.
The new economics of Big Ears do not jibe with the understandable, but constant and often brutal rescheduling, for me. Meh.
Oh this is an asshole thing to say and I love you for it 😂
Ha! I was being sincere, though. I really hope it works out and my meh’ing turns into a ridiculous nothing-🍔 !
I’m gonna shoot for Saturday as I’m down by the train tracks all day and while it doesn’t conflict (yet), Armand Hammer is a tight fit. It’ll suck if things get shifted the wrong way but I’ll be ok if I miss them as I’m sure I’ll get more shots in the future. Not so sure about a New Blue Sun performance.
Friday: Joanna Sternberg > Eli Winter Trio > Fred Frith & Ikue Mori > Jana Horn > Son Rompe Pera > Slauson Malone 1 > Molly Lewis > Myriam Gendron > Titan to Tachyons
Saturday: Kassa Overall > Secret Chiefs 3: Ishraqiyun > Eli Winter Trio > Tomas Fujiwara’s 7 Poets Trio > Horse Lords > Sleepytime Gorilla Museum (partial) > Andre 3000 > Armand Hammer > James Brandon Lewis & The Messthetics
Sunday: The Harvest Time Project: A Tribute to Pharoah Sanders > Henry Threadgill / Vijay Iyer / Dafnis Prieto > Thurston Moore & JPJ > FlySiifu > (end of) Medeski • Russo • Ribot
Also thinking I may move Three Stacks to Sunday to clear up a few artists. I’ve got a few days to figure it out.

Pilot Light announced the initial lineup for What For? Spike Hellis, Sunny War, Greg Saunier and Steve Gigante, Wombo, Ed Schrader's Music Beat, W8ING4UFOS, Big Kitty, Glad I Didn't Get My Stupid Wish, Generation of Vipers, Andy the Doorbum, Lan Line, Imelda Marcos, Attic Eyes, Bursters, Slime Ring, The Shrining, Earwig Deluxe, Ted Tyro, Telo Hoy, Maspeth, Bad Mothr, Consensual Piss, Kudzu Municipal, Alice Galerina, Nightjar, A Certain Zone.
I’m thinking of clearing my day on Saturday just for Generation of Vipers and doing Andre on Sunday.
I can try to find out when they're playing if you want. Also, I'm part of a thing that's being put together for Sunday only. It's gonna be at a place called local smokey, between M&M and regas kinda. Gonna try to announce the lineup this week. I think some of yall would dig it.

If you think about it, I’d love that. I’m assuming it’s later but hopeful it works out.
Plus, my interest is piqued about this event on Sunday.

I decided I’m not getting a ticket because I didn’t want to see enough to justify the price. But I am going to be in Knoxville part of that weekend, so if y’all do a Sunday brunch or something like that, please somebody let me know and I might be able to swing by and say hey.

Totally fair. I’m sure we’ll do something. I’ll also be wandering from coffee shop to coffee shop with bands sprinkled in the middle.
I wish there wasn’t overlap between Horse Lords and Orton. I’d slip you my wristband for that show.

"Passes for all André 3000 events will be $65.00 plus fees while passes for both Just Charles & Cello presentations will be $45.00 plus fees. Digital tickets for these special performances will be delivered to patrons via email 24 hours prior to the event."

Yeah. I'm out.
That’s cheap compared to his other shows.
It's a couple thing for me. One, it seems cool, and I am happy people are getting into an artist making a big turn in their output. That being said, I am not sure I am $65 into it. Two, there's something about spending $400 on a ticket then getting another $65 on top of it for the show that just doesn't immediately sit well with me.

This is where I'm at. I spent five months getting excited about other things on the lineup and I would either axe Charles Lloyd, Christian McBride, or Cyro Baptista to pay an extra 20% on top of my ticket to go see a dude (who i like!) tweedle on his flutes for an hour. I saw OutKast during the part of the tour where he was actually having fun. I might do Just Charles on Saturday, though.

Esh. Imagine having to take a second mortgage to see Andre.
$65 is a lot on its own but now I’m worried about fees associated with it.
Pretty sure I’m skipping it. While I agree with the fact it creates a less clusterfuck to have it, a simple reservation system was all that was needed.

Agree it should've been an Andre lottery, but still probably in. One of the only sets I'd be able to tell coworkers about and have them know who I'm talking about... can't put a price on that
