Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
1. Goose x3, best was Goosemas N2. camped out on lot all day to try and get rail and it was absolutely worth it!
2. MMJ x2, Bonnaroo narrowly beats out the show here in Jackson
3. The Beths x3, Toyota Music Den set at Roo with fans choosing the setlist was crazy cool
4. Lana Del Rey at Brandon Amphitheater, show blew me away as someone who never really came around too much on Lana until the show
5. Flipturn x6, acoustic set at Record Shop in Charleston was really intimate and awesome. best regular set was at Proud Larry’s in Oxford
6. The Flaming Lips at Cathead Jam, full album play of Yoshimi rocked so hard and they still had all of the regular production even on a smaller festival stage
7. Dead and Company x2, was glad to catch them twice in a few weeks before they wrapped things up for the most part at the end of the summer. John Mayer is so damn talented
8. Skrillex at iiiPoints, haven’t seen him since 2019 and he’s honestly twice as good as when i last saw him at least
9. Phish at Orion Amphitheater N1, felt like such a full circle moment in my jam band growth as talking to their fans at Roo 2019 was what made me so intrigued in the first place. crazy venue and some awesome bustouts made for an incredible night
10. Pretty Lights at Mardi Gras World N1, really wish i could put this higher up but just wasn’t my night with some really bad crowd pockets and having to leave at the end of set 1. they’ve been at the top of my realistic concert bucket list for a while so was just thankful to catch them at all; while all external factors aside it probably would be a top 3 show musically
HMs: Nia Archives at iiiPoints pre-party, Alex G at Roo, Cimafunk x2, Daniel Donato x2, Tiga b2b Hudson Mohawke
also was able to see Despacio for the first time this year and it of course stands in a league of its own!
I miss going to shows all the time. What I've seen this year:
1. The Cure @ Shoreline 2. Underworld @ The Warfield 3. Cruel World Festival (Highlights: Fever Ray, Caribou, The Walkmen)
Update: 1. The Cure @ Shoreline 2. Neil Young @ Greek Theatre Berkeley 3. Underworld @ The Warfield 4. Big Thief @ Greek Theatre Berkeley 5. Run the Jewels Nights 2 and 3 @ Hollywood Palladium 6. Cruel World Festival (Highlights: Fever Ray, Caribou, The Walkmen) 7. Fleet Foxes/MMJ @ Greek Theatre Berkeley 8. Built to Spill @ The Chapel

Attended my final show of the year last night (Sleater-Kinney at the Hollywood Forever Masonic Lodge, which barely misses making my list - a full-length show would've probably pushed it over the top), so here's a wrap:
1. Pulp - Corona Capital 2. Fleet Foxes w/ Joanna Newsom surprise opener - The Belasco 3. The National night 1 (High Violet set) - Homecoming 4. The Postal Service/Death Cab for Cutie - Santa Barbara Bowl 5. Blur - Corona Capital 6. The Cure - Hollywood Bowl 7. Phoenix - Ventura Theater 8. M83 - Mission Ballroom 9. Fever Ray - The Wiltern 10. Jessie Ware - The Palladium
The next 10 spots would be some amalgamation of Caribou, LCD Soundsystem, Le Tigre, Pavement, and U.S. Girls.
I went to fewer shows than 2022 when the floodgates opened from postponed tours, but I feel like I went to better shows this year.
(Dishonorable mention for worst show: The New Pornographers. One of my favorite bands, seen them several times, but this was the first time they didn't have Neko Case, and good lord did their energy suffer in her absence.)

Ranking these is a fruitless effort because I enjoyed them all with the exception of Drive-By Truckers (who I've never been able to get into other than the Isbell stuff) and Arooj Aftab (who I'm sure is delightful but made for a very boring festival set). Anywho, here goes:

2023 has been one of my lightest non-Covid concert years but…
1. Model/Actriz @ Outline Fest (Queens, NY) 2. Charlotte Adigery & Bolis Pupul @ Elsewhere (Brooklyn, NY) 3. Dead & Co. @ Citi Field (Queens, NY) 4. Lana Del Rey @ Newport Folk Fest 5. I can't decide on a top show, so it's a three-way tie. All three shows were perfect in their own way, and the fact that they all happened on the same weekend is mind boggling.

In the beginning of 2023, I had a plan to cut the number of concerts I attend this year... Well, I'm here to report that that plan didn't work and I ended up seeing 100+ performances lol. Maybe, next year... Anyway, here are some of my favorites:

You did not see 16 performances this year that were better than the Eras Tour. No chance.

if you told me 20 years ago that in the year of our Lord 2023 KoRn would be my #1 show of the year, I would have said hell yeah brother. I'll admit I rode the meme wave hard but I can't lie and say this wasn't the highlight of my show year. what a ride.
2. Three 6 Mafia (Roo)
messy crowd, pros on stage. had a blasty blast living through this set. greatest hits set but the boys have hits. Stros hat held high during Sippin.
3. boygenius (White Oak, Houston)
this venue is one of those three venues in one type deals. I saw Lucy play in the upstairs venue (200+ capacity) in 2016 with like 15 other people, in what was the most awkward concert crowd experiences ive been in. To see her rocking the stage to a packed lawn show to thousands years later was awesome. got a shortened set due to rain delays but the three of them have such a good stage presence/chemistry, great show.
4. The Cure (Toyota Center, Houston)
Robert Smith 😍. the guy sounds so fucking good live. set wasn't too different than their ACL 2019 set but it's a great set!
5. Foo Fighters (Roo)
Stevie Nicks at Roo 22 was my first real seeing a big show with a ton of buddies experience, and for Foos I ran it back, but got to do it with my wife and my best bud seeing foos for the 2nd time (2015). josh freese rocks and the boys got hits.
6. Sunn O)) (White Oak)
started working at this venue in November and this was the one I circled as my must work. have been wanting to see them for like 15 years and they absolutely delivered. got to work side stage and flex to my coworkers that I've got steel ear drums, they all hated the show but they are casuals and not inforoo core like me. got to see Stephan O'Malley being a super cool dude to some fans and really taking time out of his night to give them a cool experience, real sweet guy.
7. Sheryl Crow (Roo)
I keep coming back to how much fun I had vibing to this set half napping in the field. All I Wanna do came on the radio the other day and I was just like God damn that was good.
8. Kendrick Lamar (Roo)
feel like this slipped down a little from my initial Roo set rankings, but overall had been a while since I've seen him and he absolutely killed it. wish I would've not been in the beer line for DNA, but I remember me and another dude going hard for it in the line.
9. Z-Ro & Lil Flip, Lil Keke, Yungstar, Michael 5000 Watts and Swishahouse (White Oak)
worked maybe the weirdest show I've ever seen, it was actually an award show that was very very underrepresented in the marketing, didnt know it was an award show until I showed up to work, and a friend that bought tickets had no idea until he talked to me during the show. had a guy come up to me and ask "is this the Z-Ro show" and I just sort of laughed and replied I think so? but eventually we got there, and in the process I saw Adrian Peterson, and got to brush shoulders w J Prince which was sort of wild. Hard to beat a setlist where Yungstar plays Knocking Pictures off the wall and Wanna Be Baller and ZRo does a rare full Mo City Don.
10. AFI (Roo)
great nostalgia set, would've loved for this not to be a 3pm What but it is what it is. could've been a better setlist for me but still had a good time and got a few hits. in a roo full of a surprising amount of nostalgia sets for me (including Kendrick playing nostalgia) was very happy they got booked for this, in what was clearly an attempt to throw some Paramore fans a bone.
Wow if Posty joins the peppas the set will be good. Maybe since JOhn FRusciante is back I haven't seen them with john frusicante so i'm looking forward to it.

1. Jacob Collier - Bonnaroo - Nothing was going to top this. I knew a couple songs walking to This Tent Sunday afternoon, but I didn't know what I was going to get. Everything about this show was good, and nobody in the rock/pop world is more musically talented than Jacob.
2. Billy Strings NYE @ UNO Arena - Quality setlist, and in particular the second set stood out for me particularly when things got more avant-garde than just bluegrass tunes. Getting Pink Floyd's Fearless in the last set was also awesome though I suppose that could count for 2024 since it was after midnight. Good show, not oversold on the floor. Lots of southern freaks as if I was at a Widespread Panic show in a smaller town.
3. Pretty Lights 3x Mardi Gras World - 3 nights, 9 hours of jamming. This was everything I wanted it to be even though I had watched 20+ of the streams from the tour. I'm glad we were the closer. Lots of great shit including a last-night jam with Soul Rebels and Brandon Butler doing Back that Azz Up.
4. Polyphia (TX run but more HTX) - These shows were probably the two best technical shows I saw this year. They are on top of the rock world for a reason. All the shows are basically the same for each tour, but they've come a long way from just doing guitar-shred/guitar-virtuoso music and play some of their vocal and rap stuff live. They'll be a great band to catch as long as they keep it going.
5. Korn - Bonnaroo - As per a few posts above, they kicked ass.
6. Kendrick - Bonnaroo - Also kicked ass
7. boygenius - Re:set - That afternoon of Re:set was really good. I didn't think Idles was all that, but Clairo much exceeded, and then boygenius topped that. Looking forward to seeing them again sometime hopefully soon. They can get at you emotionally.
8. STS9 - Bonnaroo - I said it during my write-up that this could have gone way higher had Hunter's guitar been in tune for the first 2-3 songs. But it didn't really matter much in the end, because that set was otherwise almost perfect. I could have done with a couple other songs I wanted them to play, but I've seen them so many times that I'm just being greedy. The Other never looked or sounded so good.
9. Three 6 Mafia - Bonnaroo - Good ratchet party, and I was grateful to finally catch DJ Paul live. This show was a ton of fun.
10. LCD Soundsystem - Re:set - I'm not an LCD fawn, but they've never disappointed me live. This was the first time I've seen them since Voodoo (16 or 17), and it was almost as good as that.
The rest...
The very good:

I'm late to the party, but figured I'd do this even though my concertgoing has taken a dip in the past year - 2023 was the first year I didn't attend a full multi-day festival in 10 years, although I did dip a toe in on GovBall thanks to being miracled into a pass for it.
Still saw some good shit, though.
1. The Cure @ MSG 2. LCD Soundsystem @ Forest Hills Stadium 3. Kendrick Lamar @ GovBall 4. My Morning Jacket @ Beacon Theater - I saw all 3 shows of the triple-header, but there were no repeats, so I'm counting it as one experience, don't @ me. 5. Death Cab For Cutie/The Postal Service @ MSG 6. The Smile @ Forest Hills Stadium 7. Phoenix/Beck @ MSG 8. M83 @ Terminal 5 9. The Walkmen @ Webster Hall 10. Jack White @ Brooklyn Steel
Do you want to dance while also thinking about all the ways you've failed as a human?
UPCOMING SHOWS 5/14 - Neil Young & Crazy Horse @ Forest Hills 6/8 and maybe 6/9 - Governors Ball 8/17 - King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard @ Forest Hills 9/4 - Pearl Jam @ MSG 9/7 - Pearl Jam @ Wells Fargo Center 9/11 - St. Vincent @ Brooklyn Paramount
