if anybody hasnt booked a place yet, i’d be down to split an airbnb, im not a serial killer, just a guy who talks about nba when drunk, as pablo and tristan can attest.

Air B&B may be a cheaper option, just to keep in mind that some have a tendency to cancel. I have been a part of the Discord group (the larger one) for a couple years and have seen quite a few people scrabble to find something last minute.
-There was basically no advantage to doing VIP this year outside of priority access to Ciutat shows, right? (And even then I'm not sure how helpful that would be since regardless of what I do I might fuck off to Paris for a few days anyway.)
-And speaking of which, when were the Ciutat shows announced this year?
-What are some good neighborhoods for hotels? This is probably going to be very flexible depending on if my dad goes, but I'd prefer not to stay in an Airbnb if possible.
-And finally, what's the deal with the bridge now?
Right across the street. Major plus for leaving at the end of the night/morning. It was also walkable to the beach. The neighborhood was great with a bunch of cafes and places to eat, parks, etc. But obviously don't get the experience of the Gothic quarter and had to get transportation for the non-festival days. Would stay there again if we came back, it was our first time.
The bridge was gone completely, from what I understand.

Fuck VIP. It literally only gets you a goodie tote (which you have to keep up with for a day) and a separate entrance (the opposite side of the Auditori). While the separate entrance was quick and easy, you literally have to walk up this gigantic ass hill to get there.
Inside you don't get much. There's elevated bars for the main stages and the Amazon and Ron Brugal stages. Beer is a Euro cheaper but don't think you're sitting down. It's over packed (and in Madrid we got turned away).
You do get early access to Ciutat reservations but past Darkside last year, you would have been fine waiting. A few sold out but that was the only insta sellout. Maybe Pet Shop Boys did too but I can't remember for certain.
They should announce who is playing the city but not venues with the lineup. That'll go on-sale like a month before the festival.
Tl;dr Save Euros. Unless they announce they are going back to the pit system, buy GA.
Gimme just a bit on neighborhoods. Personal preference is Eixample but there's some other good ones too.

I've always stayed at hotels in Eixample. Neighborhood has amazing restaurants, great vibe and not very touristy but still super easy to get to all the tourist spots from there.

definitely don’t do Airbnb, it’s not worth the hassle in Barcelona since it’s basically illegal now. I’m staying very close to the Sants train station this year because it’s on top of like 4 metro lines, but there’s a ton of great areas to stay in.
There is no more bridge because there is nothing on the other side of the bridge anymore. They lost bits access last year and moved all the stages into the main area, and it doesn’t seem like they’re getting it back

Ahhh ok that’s what happened. I remember reading about it being a shitshow in 2022 and couldn’t remember what they decided to do afterwards. That makes sense.

Was no Bits as much of an upgrade for the experience as I’m imagining? Feels like massively reducing the commute time between stages would lead to being able to see more sets.

Looking at the maps for when I went in 2019 vs. this time, it looks like they got rid of all the GA seating at the main stages which is not great. Also it did take a long ass time to get over there but having a stage on the beach was cool.

i would say overall negative because the bits area was amazing but they did a great job with the logistics of the new stages (other than the Kelela sound issues), though I didn't go to the pull & bear stage which I heard wasn't good

the couple times I went to pull& bear they had the crowd control set up where I had to go into Mordor and then back out again to reach that side. Sound at the stage was pretty decent but the soundbleed went into Mordor which was rough for the back right side.
are there any fests besides wide awake that have dates for the weekend before? loved lyon so much last year but nuit sonores changed their dates up again
sadly, it turns out he was only interested in Glastonbury and does not care about Kylie Minogue ("I didn't even like her in the 80s"), so shucksdad will not be joining us abroad.
