How dare they put together events that people want to go to!
I know you’re joking but these fests usually mean a lot of these acts don’t have solo shows in the area so it does kinda suck
Oh no, poor LA gets robbed of 15-20 shows. Guess people have to settle for the other 6000 shows that come through.
Jk
I see it from both sides. Yes, it’s sucks for no solo shows but a lot of people going don’t have the privilege of living in a huge metropolitan area. Live Nation know this and are rolling full steam ahead no matter how badly run they are.
Is there a festival lineup good enough to justify going to Huntington Beach for it?
Ohana is down the road and the bros eat it up. Im just surprised they couldnt put this at State Historic Park like they did with Primavera. How many people pre thanksgiving weekend are gonna travel extra for this anyway.
At least 3 of those acts have done shows billed as FAREWELL in the past. B52s, Soft Cell and Devo.
Cruel Worlds non-repeat 70 min headliner list is getting very short, TFF is also out. Are A-Ha or Kylie in play?
There are also a few UK acts that barely ever hit US like Scritti Politti, Bill Nelson-Be-Bop Deluxe, Altered Images or Edwyn Collins-Orange Juice.
Haha I forgot that Devos last show was supposed to be at DD about 3 years ago
Honestly this isn't more than a middling nostalgia fest. I guess I'd see new order? Seeing Devo once was enough. Same for tears for fears 10 years ago. Honestly they need one more bigger headliner.
Actually I'm curious how many people actually listen to soft cell. Like, actually.

I don't know about that. The younger acts (compared to the top lines) are very prolific. Crosses, Kavinsky, Mareux, Urban Heat, Twin Tribes, Cold Cave, Drab Majesty. Then the return of Cardigans and Death in Vegas aren't something you'd normally see at these nostalgia festivals. I'd say this is way better than this years Cruel World.

Ok that's the problem then, I don't know the newer bands. I just see the top 4 lines which are bands that have been piddling around for a while now.

They retracted the Daze farewell, but their current tour is once again billed as farewell. I guess this is NOT their final SoCal show.
Tears new album ranks with their 80s stuff. Furs new one was unusually strong as well. OMD still crank out good albums.
Like Erasure, I thought Soft Cell was a longtime favourite of the gay community.
Live Nation (and GV to a lesser extent) continuing to fleece us with these dumb single day fests
How dare they put together events that people want to go to!
this shit is over $200
The final tier of tickets is $265 before fees. That’s freaking absurd for a single day fest; they just cram a bunch of names on these lineups to “justify” the cost but the reality is no matter what you’re getting ten hours of festival and that’s a massive ripoff
