Yeah i can see what people mean about there being to much going on, i mean i check out girls everywhere i go when im at a fests, in crowds or wherever. I assume everyone does, but its true that sex isnt on the forefront as much as usual when you're in such an otherwise instense atmosphere... At the same time im sure theres all kinds of hooking up and random sexual encounters going on, we're talking about 90,000 people... I cant say i'd be suprised if i saw an orgy or something to that effect break out at the roo' but its obviously not a common recreation... You can bet your ass that if someone was brave enough to get it goin you'd have some takers lol The other thing is that this isnt the 60's, sex is hardly a safe activity anymore...
I had sex with my girlfriend at the first two Bonnaroos. The first time was late night in the tent after Galactic. The second year was in the morning in the tent I believe. The third year I was with all dudes and I didn't chop game to very many girls, as I was occupied by music and mind-expansion. Last year I was with a girl and got a fantastic hummer and had great sex in our RV.
I have heard MANY stories of people having random hook ups down there. It's totally not in the open, but it goes down. And while most people are busy watching shitloads of bands, there is still time in transit and hanging out late night while tripping on the playground to talk to cute girls.
Also, you may have heard about the "strip club" at Bonnaroo last year. So raunchy. Totally sweet. Here are some pictures:

It happens. It is very easy to go through the Roo experience without seeing or noticing it-- it's like any aspect of Roo in that there is such a sensory overload. But if you're looking, it's there. "With the right kind of eyes..." to borrow from a favorite writer of mine.
There is a tremendous sensuality- partnered with a "Roo is its own culture" that abides by a What Happens in Roo Stays in Roo understanding. Roo is about natural and unnatural rhythms.
I found the first year lacked a sexual vibe because it was so unbelieveable and fantastic that the festival actually happened and that everything worked. It was just so amazing that IT WORKED.
Then in subsequent years when people got over the fact that "IT'S ALL HAPPENING", I think the sexuality was more prevalent in the overall vibe than the first year.

I'd heard about the strip club at roo but this was the first time I've seen any proof. How the hell did they build the room there? I heard it got shut down twice last year. As for the sex at roo. None for me I've always gone with my buddies.

I have a pic of folks throwing down behind the Tiki Bar. Kinda bummed my group out as its our meet up spot late night and these guys closed it down if you know what I mean.
Tiki Bar is to the right of the cinema tent and we've used it as a base every year.
Not sure if I can post the pic.....what do ya think.

When I went to roo the first year in 02 I had a bf at the time, and he came with me. We ended up spending most of the time in our tent having crazy intoxacted sex for hours. Ya that was fun, there no denying it, they were definatly sexual experiances I will never forget but I left feeling guilty that i didnt see all the bands that I hd drivin 14 hours to see, like Ween and bisco. So I decided to never bring bfs again. No distractions. And if I need a tent romping theres 80,000 people to choose from. But please everyone...Condoms are key!

So now I think it's time for another thread summary:
- "Embracing the dirtyness" is the only way to go. Baby wipes, solar showers, or whatever, we're all going to be dirty. Just let it go and enjoy getting nasty while being dirty.
- For those with "the right kind of eyes" there exists a strong sexual undercurrent at 'roo. (love that quote)
- "WHAT HAPPENS AT 'ROO STAYS AT ROO" Enjoy the opportunity to exist in an alternative universe for three days. Be adventurous and spread the love, 'roo is a perfect excuse.
- Condoms are key, so bring plenty and share ("wrap that rascal" should go without saying).
- Strippers exist and work at 'roo (documented). Hookers exist and work at 'roo (undocumented). And hey, how about some naked boy pics too?
- Don't get too carried away with the humpin' and forget to see any bands.
See, this is why I like being in early on Thursday and always staying until Monday morning-- extended time to build up and come down (or vice versa, I suppose).
Hmm... anyone play in those $5 showers? That could be fun. Or maybe some fun in the VIP showers? I have to admit, I'm a shower fan...
