Beck, if nothing else, is a great showman. Not that I expect him to be on the lineup, but you know you're at least going to have a good time at his set. He's one of those artists that you don't realize how many songs you recognize until you see him live.
Also had the chance to see him play a set last year with the London Philharmonic Orchestra which was incredible.
his set in 2006 before Radiohead was wild. He had a puppet intermission where he showed this up on the What screens (the puppets were dressed like the band)
and they joined him onstage
he also said something like "i'm gonna do this song because I know they won't" and did an impromptu cover of Creep.
I was there front and center. Elvis Costello into Beck into Radiohead. This was an awesome day!!!!

I skipped Elvis for Rusted Root (lol) and Gomez. My buddy camped all day at What for Radiohead and was so sunburned.
For those unaware, there wasn't a pit system at the What back then.
Man that preheadliner slot before Radiohead was tough. Beck vs Cypress Hill vs Les Claypool. I did like 5 songs of Beck. All of Les and caught Cypress Hill do Rock Superstar.

I was actually about to respond to Snowman with this exact comment. But add MMW to that cluster f%ck. Wild conflicts!!!

Man, I loved Rusted Root, but they made a career out of basically playing the When I Woke album in its entirety for 15 years or so. Very little of their other stuff ever clicked the way that album did. People gradually left the band, and by the time they got down to a 4-piece, the magic was gone.

I saw Rusted Root so many times back in the day on various campus tours and while they generally weren't really that good, nostalgia is a hell of a drug and I'd probably watch a set of theirs in 2025 over many of the better bands that get discussed on this thread.

Oh, I disagree. When they were a 7-piece (I think), they were a great live band. They just played mostly the same set for years.

I posted last year that I would have to be huffing incredible amounts of copium to get a TnF Thursday night takeover and now I’m wondering if it’s an actual possibility…
Bring in the Funktions to WITW and let’s get weird.

I gotta admit that a lot of those memories are pretty hazy. To be clear I enjoyed the shows but can't claim to have been super lucid for any of them.
They always felt like they were in that nebulous lane between jam and alt-rock. It felt like they never took it to the next gear of weirdness, even though that gear felt like it was there.
I was quick to write off MCR completely but with Shaky now being the dates it is and MCR having no Georgia date, ending in Florida right before it making them likely, I’m starting to see a vision in which they maybe play a few Live Nation/C3 fests.
Still, would be crazy to mention and talk about them this much publicly if they are booked.
6 I most want from KBP are Black Country, New Road; Gang of Four; Justice; St. Vincent; The Black Angels and TV on the Radio. I love The Black Angels live, and it's been forever since I last saw them.
