they’re like literally a livenation employee or partner I’m pretty sure
I think he's more of an access reporter type situation. He's not on their payroll but they do feed him info they want out there. Hit rate is pretty close to a hundred
you don’t think he’s on their payroll? I assume with all of the giveaways and scavenger hunts he does at the festival, they’ve gotta be sponsoring him on the down low

Are we going to have 2 nights of EDM on the Which again like 2022 (Illenium and Flume)? Justice and John Summit (based on his billing I expect him to not play The Other) seem likely candidates for LN Which.
This could mean Gizz might play the Cigarettes After Sex slot if they aren't in a tent.

Gizz > Justice LN and Mt. Joy > John Summit LN (2022 had Lord Huron > Illenium so I could see this happening)
just for a sanity check, what is the Owl's hit rate?

Since he gets so many tickets to do giveaways I’m pretty sure he needs the festival’s approval before “leaking”. It was written here earlier but that probably means advance ticket sales are just bad right now.

everybody always points to “leaks” being done by him as a point to ticket sales being down, but I think it’s honestly just corporations realizing that leaks are a really good way to get people talking about the fest in general. I’m sure some of it is done with ticket sales in mind obviously, but I don’t think it’s as bleak as some may think it is
Nope, still have my 360 Tour ticket stub…$135 for GA floor for U2 with Muse opening.
Now Disney stars drop two albums and are charging $300/ticket.
Muse > U2 is pretty cool! Mine was Interpol which didn't really interest me at the time.
I was dragged along to Muse/U2 in Atlanta as my first real concert when I was 13. As soon as Muse came out and started playing Uprising, I was in total awe and quickly became obsessed and bought a drum set and got all my friends into Muse.
THANK YOU! I’ll definitely keep that in mind as I’m sure I’ll be going solo 😂
Gotcha big dawg! We'll be hauling so we'll be kinda pokey getting down there, last year took ~10.5 hrs, the plan is Tuesday entry! Depending on my other crew and browell, we might have an extra bed open if ya want to go in on the RV spot!

How did John Summit get confirmed?
Not saying he hasn’t gotten big enough to return after 2 years but just seems like there’s other edm acts out there that have never played roo that could be selected over him

nothing makes you sound older than referring to modern pop stars as Disney stars btw
I'm not going to be the old guy who's going to begrudge modern pop stars for charging what they can when a lot of their fanbase has never paid for physical media in the life - the game has changed.
But let's not pretend that some of them aren't coming in with wind at their back from their original Disney/Nickelodeon audience.

Owl stated last year that festivals in general, and I think he included bonnaroo as well, struggle to get advance sales which causes a lot of headaches for them. I can totally see this as a gimmick. Since he’s in their pocket I doubt he’s allowed to step on their toes and leak the lineup already or at least what he knows. I do find it annoying that he always has to dangle his ‘knowledge’ though

nobody’s pretending that lol I’m saying it’s disingenuous and makes you age yourself to refer to them as just “Disney/nickelodeon stars”- especially when they’ve built out strong careers after distancing from the original network they started on

It's ok if you like Sabrina and Olivia. I'm not saying that means you're still watching "That's So Raven". And if you are that's ok too.

I don’t think it means advance ticket sales are down. I do think it is strategic though; Justice was just announced for both Kilby Block Party and Electric Forest this week. It is smart for Bonnaroo to let people know that they will be there as well, in case they were planning on traveling to one of the other festivals where Justice is playing.
I think The What podcast guys said Brad and Cory are really pleased with how the presale is doing this year. But ya know… Grain of salt and all that jazz.

I think you hit the nail on the head here. Trying to take away from the competition a little

I dont really care about all that, just using this as a soapbox moment because I always find it funny when the older folks downplay the newer talents
I hope the midcard act is Will Clark(e), but it's the baseball player not the DJ. Innings Fest has dominated the MLB legends meet and greet lane and I think Roo needs to start competing.
I knew that mfer in high school. He was from Pines Village which was a couple neighborhoods away.
We had French I class which was freshmen and seniors who needed another language credit.
I remember Will Clarke as a arrogant douche from (Edit: Miss St. He was such a jerk I misremembered him to Ole Miss). Fine ballplayer, no doubt. You could just see the althlete-frat-jerkwad oozing off of him when he was in college.
my counter would be was Cage the Elephant surging in popularity this time last year?
no but Cage has been popular for over a decade, they would've been a 2 any year since like 2018, not a 14. Not saying Mt Joy wouldn't be top 5, but I'm not sky is falling them as a sub either
To me Cage is a much bigger band/act than Mt. Joy. Also I do like Mt. Joy alot (after seeing them at Bourbon & Beyond). Very nice set.

they were 11th in 2017
That Which Stage set they did was the wildest one I've ever seen them do (and I've seen them at least 9 times). Matt & the band were cooking that night. Crowd was awesome too!
This question’s gonna be random af but what’s the deal with Slayer? Could they show up? I feel like I’m down to get my shit rocked on a crisp Bonnaroo night. Also would they have to take a #1 or could it be a late night Which show
They once played Bonnaroo. And I was at that bitch having had to leave a MMJ What stage long show because they changed the time earlier for Slayer. And someone tripping gave me further bad info that they moved it up even earlier. So I sat and waited listening to Childish off to the left which was alright but a more gospely show. Then Slayer came on. Wasn’t maybe as good as when they played Voodoo the year before in 2014 but still a solid 8/10 show. I’m trying to think back on the hardest rock shit I’ve seen there. Tool, Gojira, Bad Brains and Slayer are some of them. But like I said I was tired as shit. I’m not sure what I saw after - MMS&W maybe if that was the same night. But I remember passing out and waking back up solo like 3x at Which for Bassnectar. That was a wild day coming off a two week festival and travel binge. Moral of the story was I sat outside the tent smoking and drinking and admiring a crowd I should have been in the middle for. Reality dictates.
Edit to say I missed the last 2/3 of Jacker, Atomic Bomb and Tycho. It was Slayer into Bassnectar. I walked around a bit after listening to D’Angelo and the PL Superjam once I caught 2nd wind.
Hardest rock set I've ever seen at Roo was Lamb of God back whenever. Played after or before Clutch. Can't remember. That one was freaking wild.
RHCP was atrocious last year. I would have much rather have had any of the three being discussed for 2025 over that.
I caught both their sets in 2012 and in 2017. Was in the pit for 2012. Managed to scam my way in, in spite of just walking up to wait area about 1/2 hour before the set. Thought the 2012 one was better. Think RHCP has about 9 really good songs.
