I wouldn't count them out, that Tennessee event could in fact be Roo.
If some of the talk I've heard is accurate, they're a little behind in terms of booking the bigger font names because some of their offers didn't work out. Metallica could be an easy way to fill in the gap if they're available.

the way i'm thinking about is it looks like the shows are structured similar to their tour last year: two nights at the same venue, completely different setlists each night. if they follow that pattern again it seems unlikely they'd play two sets at roo, they probably make more money playing two stadiums. plus their stage setups tend to be intricate, so if they are playing mostly stadiums they don't have to tweak the setup for roo.
feels like that touring structure isn't setup for festivals. don't get me wrong i'd be incredibly psyched to have metallica at roo, just not getting my hopes up.

I imagine this happens every year... were any names mentioned?

I'm in a tricky situation these days where I do know firsthand a lot of what is going on in getting the lineup put together, but if I talked about any specifics it would potentially put specific people in hot water. I certainly do not want to put anyone in a bad situation for me to just get pretend internet points.

Yeah just figured I'd ask since it's technically names *not playing the fest.
Some cheesy language but good summary for the most part on the state of festivals/live music. The discussion on Gen Z being part of the decreased demand was pretty interesting.
A couple quotes on millennials that made me chuckle given the relevancy:
“They liked going places. They liked socializing. They liked drinking booze and doing drugs. They liked hooking up”
“Now that millennials are older and many have families, they are less likely to want to attend multi-day festivals, which often involve standing in the hot sun, immersing yourself in swarms of people partying hard, and sleeping in the dirt.”
I can't help but think of Roo with that last quote. Will be interesting to see how the industry evolves. Most fests are made up of the 18-30 demo, and if Gen Z really isn’t as interested in these events as millennials then you would expect more changes to come.
Honestly as an elder millennial, I am more prone than ever to go do this crazy stuff. Me and the wife are the DINK types so we're always down for whatever.
