Edit - Wow ok, I just saw that 2012 Roo had a sold-out capacity of 100k people. That is wild, I can't imagine another 20k people crammed into centeroo, I doubt they will ever do that again.
Pls forgive the noob question, but is there any way to measure the success of Roo beyond a "sold out" attendance? Isn't it always about the same ~80k max capacity for ticket sales?
Damn. The good ol days when 85,000 people would gather in a hot field in Tennessee, all of them thinking “wow I desperately need to see Freelance Whales”
Friday:Bela Fleck > Warren Haynes then nothing until Del McCourry and Preservation Hall Jazz Band > Primus > Big Boi > Ratatat
Saturday: Portugal the Man > Bootsy Collins > Buffalo Springfield > Eminem > Dr John and the Meters > STS9
Sunday: Galactic > Gregg Allman > Superjam w Dr John and Dan Aurbach > Widespread Panic
Nice little trip down memory lane
pretty cool but my fake schedule was better. if i would've been there i would've seen better shows than you actually saw. i'm very good at picking what shows to see.
Anyone who is in the know on well past bonnaroos have sold, how well did 2011 and 2018 (the Eminem years) sell specifically?
2011 was the furthest I had ever been from CenteROO. I think it was POD 13? Even on my first day the walk to CenteROO was almost 30 minutes, and by Sunday it was definitely a slower walk as I was tired AF. We referred to these campsites as Super BFE, ‘cause POD 1 was so very much closer.

Do you ever look back at old roo schedules knowing a lot more of the bands than you did at the time and just kind of kick yourself?

absolutely. like what i actually saw in 2012 was pretty pathetic.
not enough artists. i am so much better at coming up with hypothetical schedules then literally everybody here. just look at how many more artists i have on mine. i have THIRTY artists on my schedule you only have SEVEN. thats TWENTY THREE LESS THAN WHAT I HAVE ON MINE.
so keeping score, so far my fake schedule is better than one actual schedule and one other fake schedule. i am so much better at this than anyone.
