I think you'll win that bet, it just makes absolutely no sense for them to cannibalize Stagecoach attendance and it'd be the laziest double booking known to man
I dunno if I see JT even playing ACL or Lolla. When he played at Climate Pledge in Seattle (I live nearby) it looked like a Mom crowd. He hasn't put out relevant music in a decade, other than the Trolls song.
Will we get Flylo this year? New music out and apparently more to come on top of the EP. His club mix at the Justice afters was one of the best club mixes I've heard point blank.

Lollapalooza has booked Bruno Mars as a #1 before. They will absolutely cater to your mom

Speaking of Bruno Mars…what are the odds he is the big name next year.

They booked Journey before? Need to counter the dad rock with mom pop.

Trying to raise the divorce rates with that conflict?

If they’re gonna make the gays have to put up with Post and Green Day as headliners can we at least get Scissor Sisters in the Mojave one night?
I missed out on Arcade Fire closing the Main Stage in 2011 for a night with The Sisters...to me...totally worth it!!!!
Coachella was lowkey gaytastic that year and people forget that. Although one of the most random streaks of bands in a row was Sleigh Bells > Cut Copy > Aquabats > Robyn in Mojave. Mental, but it was fun af
Stephen Malkmus' new supergroup. Know a non-GV show in LA is typically an automatic out - but these look suspicious

I’d laugh so much if Pavement was a surprise sub ala Blur or Björk that no one is predicting. Realistically though the gap might because the new Pavements doc is expected to come out Spring 2025 so maybe Stephen and the band will be doing press around that time.

You really don’t know ACL then.
I went to ACL in 2018 when McCartney headlined. Who would you say is the most comparable artist to JT that's headlined in the past 5 years? I guess it's P!nk? JT to me feels like an even more dated booking but maybe I'm biased
May I remind you 1) fred again is a headliner 2) Charli is headlining primavera 3) brat marketing has been used in a presidential campaign
1) Fred is bigger than Charli in his respective genre, and has had an overall steadier career than Charli who very well might fade back into niche gay popstar territory after the brat era is said and done (but who knows, I genuinely want more for her). As a sub-point, he's already been a headliner technically and has proven his hold over large EDM markets with ticket sales, particularly SoCal. He sold 60k tickets to the Coliseum in like 5 days notice after doing like 5 or 6 shows here in the past year, Charli doesn't have that pull.
3) Sure, but I won't get into the reasons why that's not really a big help as I'd have to go into a tangent over politics (largely Kamala's attempts at reaching to Gen Z and the queer community in a very token way) and would rather not do that here
Could Charli headline? Maybe, but the chances of it are slim compared to an RTTD or sub spot, especially with the rumored headliners.
My hot take is that Fred is just as likely to fade into the background as Charli is. He capitalized on a perfect moment with his music and the post-pandemic. It's going to burn out - for some reason he's going more in the sleepy direction and increasing his own singing...which is just not it.

77.5k according to HDD, actually. That’s equal to a four and half night run at the Forum, so more than double what Charli sold with the Sweat tour

Too many people talking about whether Fred should be headlining and not enough people are talking about how Fred headlining all but guarantees we'll hear flight fm on the main stage.

agreed. a special little "in the dance tent" or "presents partygirl/brat live" either in the RTTD slot or as a sub is more than enough for where shes at rn.
i am impatiently waiting for all the basic teens who only know brat to be very frightened/confused when she starts playing track 10.

who gives a fuck if brat has been used in a presidential campaign like what does that have to do with literally anything

the single best reason for Fred to headline (as a Fred fan)

Weren’t those tickets like $20? And he’s not selling tickets on his tour that is hitting other cities. His steady career has taken off really after he headlined Coachella. Justifying his headliner ability bc of his pull that is due in part to the fact that he’s headlined. Bit recursive. Charlis tour has been sold out and tickets are impossible to get because they’re worth several hundred dollars and she has been on top of the cultural zeitgeist all year. He’s big with mainstream fans who like edm.
Every bar and club is playing Charli xcx every weekend. People are dressing up as her for Halloween. Fred released 2 albums this year that were heavily under the radar, and outside of this forum I actually haven’t heard or seen his name in my life in months. If Fred again can headline, Charli xcx can headline.
Not to mention the Fred again headlining sets at iii points, lolla, were widely considered underwhelming and the Bonnaroo set had mixed reviews. His whole thing with minimal production and these long drawn out interludes where he noodles the piano while talking is a snooze fest.
Let’s not even get started on the fact that Snarfus and the Piss Machine would draw 10x as many people when Fred could barely even sell out Glorf Field. 🙄✋
