"At Las Vegas’ jaw-dropping new Sphere, box-office receipts were as large as the venue’s 366-foot screen, with inaugural residents U2 hauling in $135m from 23 shows during the quarter and Dead & Company posting $131m from 30 nights of their own. Current tenant the Eagles haven’t reported numbers yet from their Sphere run, which concludes next March, but they’d already grossed $70m from their global arena shows through Q2, likely pushing their 2024 total into the $200m range." Reports earlier of this month of the Sphere having a lot of debt proven Fake !! Sphere haters will die and the Sphere lovers remain vindicated !!!! All hail Sphere !
Doesn't surprise me at all. Seats just to see a recording of the U2 show (i.e. not a live performance) are minimum $100 each and the market is tourists that're willing to pay pretty much whatever for a "once in a lifetime" experience. The production costs are probably ridiculous since any shows inside have to be specially designed for the space but I'd imagine regardless there's still a hefty profit. I'm mostly curious about how big of a cut the Sphere (and ticketmaster) takes from the gross vs. what the artists actually see.
Can someone ask the old lady from Egypt what she thinks of Lana Del Rey headlining Coachella so we can know whether the festival has redeemed its reputation as a laughingstock worldwide
While we are talking about artists that kind of suck in the eye of the public, Kanye is putting out an album in November. Wonder if PT would even bother with booking him anymore.
After the 2nd cancellation and the nazi stuff, they cut ties according blind items

Production for whom? Most tours involve artists bringing their own speakers, stage, lights, screens, etc. the sphere has that all already. And then they don’t need to pay to have anything shipped either, which accounts for a hefty portion of overhead as wellEach tour they’re already paying for graphics/visuals/design teams anyway.

That BEAT show was pretty amazing last night. Getting Tony Levin, Danny Carey, Steve Vai and Adrian Belew in a tent like Grinderman would be awesome. I had high expectations going into the show and they we’re exceeded.
feels like there's a fake for every Mexican festival but almost none for the US ones, what's up with that
Mexicans like to do mocks, but for some reason people here like to float it as a "leak". Corona Capital just has straight up mocks and they're known as such, but for smaller fests people like to pretend it's a leak.

Shame on me for re-opening the Keinemusik discourse from a few pages back, BUT I saw &Me and Rampa Saturday night at Circoloco Halloween... they played a two hour set, where the first 90 minutes was completely absent of any afrohouse tracks and the vibe was much darker (throwback to a time passed before they fully blew up from tracks like "Move"). It was unexpected, but welcomed and went over well with the crowd to my surprise. In the final 30 minutes they did transition to a more "mainstream" vibe with tracks like Neverender (Remix), Tanzania (Remix), Say What, etc.
Also unexpectedly, Chris Stussy played an hour long set before them and while I am a fan, I was pretty underwhelmed. I had never seen him before and had been penciling him in as a "can't miss" at Coachella, but now I am not so sure...

Adam Port is the weak link of Keinemusik so not surprised. I don’t get the Chris Stussy hype either…
Awfully quiet Monday, I predict an HDD article floating Jelly Roll again this week.
Paul needs the World Series to end so its back to business. And they gotta start prepping for Flog Gnaw too. But if anythings popping up its likely Just Like Heaven.

Halsey’s new album debuted with 4.67 million streams on Spotify (to compare, indie artist Clairo’s recent album debuted with 5.55 million). It’s virtually nonexistent on the Apple Music charts.
However, interestingly HDD is predicting it to sell 80-100k first week which doesn’t add up. I’ve noticed she discounted the album to $4.99 on iTunes and has been releasing new versions with bonus tracks every day for $4.99 on her digital store.
My question is, will these discounted sales be counted by Billboard or will they be tossed like Charli XCX’s?
I’ve never seen such blatant chart manipulation. I hope GV doesn’t give her the sub slot.

Taylor did the same thing and it counted as has everyone else. Coldplay the other week was way worse than what Halsey is doing. And its a lot of physical sales paired with the 4 bonus tracks that got sold. And Halsey teased a summer tour last night in Austin. So safe to say theyre probably out. And thats not gonna matter when Tyler sold out his online store stock. The vinyl alone was a pressing of 100k.
