I've always said this to people who doubt that Taylor would play Coachella and focus on the money. She doesn't need the money, she doesn't even need the touring money at this point. It's always a matter of whether she's wanted to and has the time, and last year seemed like neither given the tour. It's the same thing as a Beyonce booking, you dominate the press of the weekend and get credited for once again ringing in the glory of Coachella, except this would be that x100, and would be the biggest festival news in years. That's likely the thing that she wants, she seems very PR focused, along with the associated streaming deals. The extra revenue avenues are just the cherry on top.
It's also just a major chapter (regardless of where you are in the spectrum of stardom) and fun thing to do for many big artists. If I was a huge artist, even if I didn't need Coachella, I'd sure as hell perform, especially when I'd be getting the best treatment of the entire festival and get to attend everyday outside of rehearsals, prep, and performance. To me it's never made sense for top artists to turn down Coachella when they aren't touring because literally why not?
She wants the money thats the thing. Not about need. If artists at that level who didnt need the money would do what The Cure has done and let everyone afford tickets to their concerts. It will be a very interesting reaction if she is on the poster though. The people who dropped thousands to sit in the nosebleeds will see this as a bargain and it wont be the current tour show either. I mean thats how the Beyhive saw it in 2018. You never get another chance to be this close to Beyonce in a non vip setting pretty much, so go for broke. Curious to see if car camping passes end up going for almost as much as a weekend pass on resale. Easily over $1000 I bet.
Yeah, and she gets the money too. Nothing's stopping her bag this time by playing, it would've been annoying to schedule last year and she's had more time to work out deals related to it if she is playing.
Not sure about every stadium she has played on this tour but would a Coachella show be her most attended individual show ever? Could be some motivation with that too.
Considering her strategy of regularly scheduling special editon/releases to knock out her peers from charting, it’s not a reach to assume she wants the Coachella headline performance as a notch in her belt. Glastonbury is the only other comparable stage.
Unless she chooses to build her own festival like Tyler or Phish
Taylor has said before that she wants to play Coachella. I don't think for an artist of her stature that it has to be completely boiled down to a cold calculation of how much she could earn playing Coachella vs how much she could make playing shows, especially since she already played six shows in LA last year and is literally coming off a billion dollar grossing world tour. personally I imagine headlining one of the most prestigious and culturally relevant music festivals in the world is a desirable career accomplishment in and of itself, and I agree she'd be far more likely to do a one-off special show specifically designed for the festival. and I don't think we'd be hearing her name thrown around (incl last year) if GV thought there was no way to make it work financially.

this post hits it right on the money. It all comes down to this: does Taylor want to play Coachella? None of us are her, so we can only speculate.

Is there anything new you guys would like to see on the artist tracker? (e.g. listing headliners of other festivals on the tracker). Might be a little difficult to do especially with the lineup being announced soon (hopefully) & with a bunch of festivals dropping as well.

if you could confirm confidence man that'd be great

The answer is Yes. She has stated before she wants to play Coachella. I think her Coachella loving bf only adds, even if ever so slightly, to the odds that she would entertain the idea.

Plus let's not forget that she was literally at Coachella this year too.

A few pages back, we had someone talking about how they flipped a $380 ticket for 10x its price. The resale markup on tickets is so crazy, the starting price is basically irrelevant.

Been listening to the new album actually - I enjoy it very much, would love to see them.
Love how all of the motivated reasoning for Taylor focuses on the idea that the final infinity stone she's missing is the approval of the Coachella audience.
personally I was simply responding to the idea that Coachella needs to pull a scalp-their-own-tickets conspiracy in order to be able to afford her. There's no evidence that Taylor would want a prohibitively expensive amount of money to play the festival.

Bad Bunny was pulling in similar numbers on his stadium tour every night and he played the fest. Its just that Taylor is more money hungry than the rest. Everyone makes a killing one way or another if she is booked at this point. Again, its still Aeg putting on her tour and Aeg putting on Coachella. Money's coming from the same damn bank account and its clear that they have it just from these tour grosses.

Setting money aside - what is her motivation for allegedly playing? She is finishing the biggest tour of all time and has taken a ton of heat for not doing enough to get tickets in the hands of her own fans. People here seem to earnestly be suggesting that she'd want to cap the biggest tour of all time with a special set (and setlist!!!) for an audience of non-fans who bought presale a few months ago to a fest that didn't sell out last year.
Could care less about Taylor Swift and would never buy a ticket to her cult-like following shows but if she was in the desert, it would be a no-brainer to join in and watch. The beauty of Coachella.

Just saw there was a new album on Spotify under SebastiAn. Can’t find info on it anywhere and it if actually is him, it’s quite the departure from his normal sound.
All that is to say, if this new material means there’s a chance he’s on the 2025 lineup, I’m all for it.
