Why would it? I don't think so at all. Maybe budget? But the RoI on a Taylor slot cancels out any budgetary issues especially if they shift tickets on to secondary marketplaces.
Gaga would not perform the year Taylor would (if it ever happens). No artist wants their massive Coachella headlining set to be drowned out with the Taylor noise, let alone someone as successful as Gaga. They would need two sub promotes the year she headlines, and probably with some sort of Taylor tie.
Yeah that’s a fair take with the new album she’d be debuting tbh
Did you listen to the new Gaga? Now that was disappointing
Oh thank goodness it wasn’t just me. I saw it trending last night and people were saying it’s her best single since Bad Romance and all kinds of hyperbole. I was just like “did we all hear the same song?”
I also find the fact that the article starts out with Taylor and comments on her selling out 8 AEG shows at Wembley very relevant
What if I told you that Hits was a music industry tabloid and the article was about general music industry touring and they list the promoter/agent for every tour they reference? And after leading with Taylor's record breaking year they referenced virtually every other AEG or Livenation fest within the article as well?

Even if she asks $50mil for 2 gigs?
There was chatter in the 2024 she asked for a crazy fee and AEG wasn't there. After the 2024 crowd numbers, maybe they reconsidered.
Even if they get creative with VIP, hotel package, resale, this may be one of those invest in the future bookings from AEG point of view.
I don’t think the ROI is in question. - expose a lotttt of new people to your festival, which presumably generates some notable amount of repeat attendees - sell out 250k in todays economy which is ~80k more tickets than last year through both weekends? - once again cement your ability to book the largest acts in the world and remind people why they buy presale lol - all the other short term revenue blah blah that comes with having Taylor Swift on your lineup
Like you said, I think it comes down to whether she wants to play and accept whatever GV put on the table. If it was a pay anything situation she would’ve probably played last year.

Nah it'll be like Barbenheimer where they elevate each other. Hell, what better way to show up Primavera's Powerpuff Girls meme with Taylor and Gaga, or Taylor and Gaga and Karol G or something. Don't get me wrong I have never thought Coachella and Primavera have influenced each other truly, they're their own geographic beasts. But my point is it certainly isn't a sin to have two or more absolute queens of the industry on the same poster
Edit: I just remembered that time where Kanye and 50 constructed that rivalry for their albums releasing on the same day to see who was better, and my local HMV gave me the 50 album for free when I bought Graduation. Insert appropriate/inappropriate joke here

Taylor is Princess Morbucks. Thats all Coachella has to have to go against the Powerpop Girls if you wanna have a head to head matchup. It would def create headlines
Strawberry Hotel is good fun, too bad (?) Underworld just came around...
It’s a great album, but W2 did get two songs from the record last year and the LA show at the Shrine in 2023 had 4 songs. So not really expecting much more even if they did come back in 2025 with them only getting 70 minutes max.

Yeah I actually think Taylor and Gaga would be thrilled to both headline, with inevitably very different shows. We just saw Primavera do triple female pop headliners where they’re psyched to be doing it together. Taylor and Gaga would be like that, with Fred as the cute kid going first.
Man y’all hate Travis Scott so much. Really glossed over the tidbit about him being the highest grossing touring rapper. Seems inevitable that he headlines

Not with the crowds he has been having. Definitely would be worse than Metro Boomin's weekend 2 set from 2023. Yes he's a great performer, but there is no way to keep that crowd tame.
If I were in Gagas management meeting Id say she gets more mileage out of Vegas Sphere gigs than doing 2 shows on the polo grounds. Especially after Joker 2 and connected 2 albums were a shrug.

GV is getting another entire generation into Coachella with one crazy high-priced booking.
Can't wait for Swifties to go for 5 years in a row and then complain that it's lost its way.

Would still need to see him headline a non-hip-hop US festival before he hits the festival under the most scrutiny out of any of them. Booking Travis Scott for Coachella would probably have a similar reaction to booking Chris Brown at this point still.

This is where I’m at. I don’t think GV will book him until some other multi-genre fest does in NA.

i think it’s his fans and that he had really no repercussions after his Houston show incident that rub ppl the wrong way

Just because they sell tickets doesnt mean its the right thing. Has he been booked by LN for anything non Rolling Loud on this continent? Thought so. Nobody wants to deal with all the baggage and if there is a single incident then it was the wrong thing to do. Kanye never incited this type or shit. Kendrick or Drake neither. Its a huge bummer that K Dot cant come back for another year cause with a new album and everything it would go down really well. If it was purely about sales then you wouldve had the likes of Justin Bieber on there already.

While we are talking about artists that kind of suck in the eye of the public, Kanye is putting out an album in November. Wonder if PT would even bother with booking him anymore.

Pay him to be a guest may be the best option. If he falls through, nobody would know. If he shows, the fest gets a ton of buzz

Good point, maybe for Ty Dolla $ign as that may be the only one who would risk it at this point. I think I saw he was booked at one point for last year but got bumped off for some Kanye related stuff.

Werent there rumors he was gonna guest last year at a set?

i also liked a few shitty artists when I was a teenager
Sure, great biggies such as Goldenvoice/AEG’s Coachella still posted huge numbers at Empire Polo Club, although the 24-year-old behemoth did not sell out, with attendance hovering around 80K for both of its weekends, according to a report from the city of Indio. By contrast, Stagecoach sold out in advance for the first time and reported attendance of 89k at the same venue, on the strength of the country-heavy zeitgeist and headliners Post Malone (CAA), Miranda Lambert, Eric Church and Wallen.
Kendrick Lamar (Wasserman) will tour stadiums at some point next year, but he won’t be at Coachella due to his commitment to the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show in New Orleans on 2/9. A Lady Gaga (CAA) outing is also a reasonable expectation as an accompaniment to her next studio album, due in Q1, and insiders are speculating whether she might also turn up at Empire Polo Grounds for the first time since 2017.
The biggest news here:
"At Las Vegas’ jaw-dropping new Sphere, box-office receipts were as large as the venue’s 366-foot screen, with inaugural residents U2 hauling in $135m from 23 shows during the quarter and Dead & Company posting $131m from 30 nights of their own. Current tenant the Eagles haven’t reported numbers yet from their Sphere run, which concludes next March, but they’d already grossed $70m from their global arena shows through Q2, likely pushing their 2024 total into the $200m range." Reports earlier of this month of the Sphere having a lot of debt proven Fake !! Sphere haters will die and the Sphere lovers remain vindicated !!!! All hail Sphere !
