Do people really still drink buttermilk? My dad was the only person I ever knew who drank that shit hot and cold. He loved it but I'm guessing as a child of the 1930's and 1940's, people used to pour them cups of it for enjoyment. It tastes so thick and bad to me that I won't drink it. I'm not mad if it's used for pancakes or waffles or to soak or wet fried chicken for the dredge or biscuits. But I can't imagine many people drink it for enjoyment. Even if someone was going to drink heavy cream which would be pretty disgusting to chug, it kind of tastes okay whereas buttermilk tastes like buttermilk.

I'd write a long, detailed recap but fuck y'all, that'll stay in my brain instead. The DJ set was a wonderful kick-off to everything, I drank 4 bevvies which was it for alcohol for me basically all week lol everything was fun as fuck, it was nice meeting/seeing again cinci, teddy, esteban, zac, snowman, arch, ambassador, manders, cum, tranter, jortles, and at least 5 or 6 others who are slipping my mind right now. Watched TMV rip it up with everyone, got a killer spot with manders and zac for the PL sunrise, 8.5/10 Roo for me, best one yet. That RV ruined me for tent camping though, fuck that, I'm an AC queen forever now.

I have used it for specific recipes, but I've never drank that shit.

i feel like a cup of that would have a weeks worth of saturated fat

I'll occasionally have a tiny little bit if I'm using it for cooking, brings back foggy memories of grandparents/great grandparents lol
this is such a good idea, i'm going to try this tonight when i get home. i already have all the ingredients.
Please report back.
unfortunately i couldn't get the full experience. i had oreos, i had butter, but when i got home i found my "wife" had drank up all the buttermilk. trust me we got in a huge fight about it. if i had a pint of buttermilk for every time i come home and my wife had drank all the buttermilk, it wouldn't matter because she would've drank that pint of buttermilk too! it's a big problem with our marriage. the oreos with filling pulled out and replaced with butter was really really good but without that glass of buttermilk i feel like it was missing the "rizz".

It sounds like you need an alternate source of buttermilk on the side. My buttermilk guy is very discreet if you’re interested.

y'all ever live in the same city as a guy you think you're friends with but he's been hiding that he has a buttermilk guy

lets connect on Telegram, i need to hide this from my wife.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.
I'm getting a plug-in cooler and bringing a generator next year. Just stuffed full of butter and buttermilk. If I can get it all through security Imma have a lucrative side hustle slanging that fresh churned.
Don't worry, I'll keep a personal stash for posty and nasti at brunch. We'll gorge.

I’m sorry to keep you in the dark, but I just can’t stress enough how important discretion is once you find a good, reliable (albeit with questionable ethics) buttermilk guy.

its been a couple of weeks and i've been dragging my feet on a recap so i'm going ahead and banging one out. still a good year and a lot of fun!!! everyone has already pointed out that the subreddit was overly negative but i didn't have many complaints. i still think it's really fucking weird that there were like no handwashing stations outside of the portapotties and no soap in the times i went into the permanent bathroom. then it sounds like a lot of people got sick when they returned home. i was and a couple people in our group were but we were all bad congested and i think we just breathed in a lot of dust and dirt for 5 days straight.
chappell was the hottest show i had ever been to and i like her music and it made me feel happy to see her doing so well. but the craziest thing that has ever happened in my life happened at this show. y'all, i'm ride or die for kacey musgraves. i saw her at the which stage at noon in 2013 and have seen her up close at all of her bonnaroo shows since. golden hour is my favorite album of all time and i have a close bond with my wife and many friends over that album. i traveled to the ryman to catch her on that tour. we were lucky enough to just barely get into the chappell pit. we got in line a little bit after the act before her had started and the line was long but i've rarely been turned away from a pit at bonnaroo so we tried it and probably 30 people behind us got in then they closed it out. i'd seen on instagram that morning that kacey musgraves was in the cage the elephant pit (i was also in there) and thought that was cool. right when the show had started a posse had walked into the pit and stood in an open area behind us in the back right in the pit and my wife looked over at them then her eyes got wide and she nudged me and went "that's her!" i looked over at her once and just thought well there's a lot of people that look like other people, then i took a second to get a good look and it was definitely her. let's just say that during the show i took about 10 seconds to step her way to offer her something for the show and she turned it down but gave me an thumbs up of approval. she was unbothered for the rest of the show too so good for her. then she was posting ig stories from the pit and my sunburnt back was center of the frame on one of them. it was a minuscule interaction but just really wild to me because she is one of my idols.
but other than that i did think chappell had the best set of the weekend. seeing so many people dance and be excited for someone at 3pm on a hot as hell day with no shade was special to me. she's certainly going to be on the what stage in a few years.
i thought geese brought the house down on thursday night. the set opened with their drummed using a headband to secure a pair a headphones to his head so i knew that it was about to get real. they also had the funniest visuals i've seen at a show. they kept showing compilation videos within their bands logo. like one of them showed people getting beat up inside of cars, then another one showed dogs surfing, and one person with me said they were distracted when one was a black and white instructional video on how to do trick shots in pool. musically they were awesome too. just heavy and groovin. their frontman was really cool too. he stood about a foot taller than the mic stand and wore a "Taylor Swift for President" shirt. i was tempted to see their outeroo show at 3am but i was shot.
as for other thursday night acts i thought gwar was a lot of fun and it was cool seeing cincinnasti. their blood could only reach maybe the first ten rows at this tent so lmao but it was still a fun pit and people crushed forward to feel the blood so that's cool. eggy did a pleasant 45 minutes. they had a dark sounding jam in the middle of it that i liked and i'd love to catch them at one of their proper shows.
i tried finding the site for brunch but wandered while carrying stuff for a while and gave up. i wish i'd have found it though because i was the person in our group that wanted to stay up the whole night and go fairly hard and no one else really had that spirit like i did that i was with. i wish i could've hung with some message board pals that i knew could've gone at my pace. but i'll try not to make that mistake again.
mdou moctar had a very good friday afternoon set that the whole crowd was embracing. mike. was terrible and he mainly played other music and brought some guy from new zealand on stage to rap one of his songs because he had a sign that said he flew to tennessee to see him. we got close for grouplove and they are always fun. after tongue tied they covered space oddity and song 2 so that got the crowd really hyped up. key glock was a fun enough rap show from what i saw. a pretty generic rap show to me but the crowd seemed into it.
joe russo's almost dead was my most anticipated set going into the festival and they were awesome. i really liked their minglewood blues and shakedown street is always a crowd pleaser. russo and dreiwitz hold it the fuck down on the rhythm section then the guitars and keys did some improvisational magic. i also really liked tom hamilton's twangy guitar tone in particular. but like everyone knows, they should've been late night. but i'll still take 90 minutes at sundown.
afterwards my pals opted to go back to camp and i decided i was going to stay but after laying under a tree by this tent for about 20 minutes i decided i was too tired to even enjoy the mars volta. big mistake there but i'm not torn up. i'm happy for everyone else on here who went it sounded like it was amazing.
we got into centeroo on saturday in time for ethel cain but like everyone has also said, the sound was pretty bad. otherwise it was a pretty good show. teezo touchdown followed her and i thought he was fun and had good showmanship. we caught jon batiste before pitting for cage the elephant and he was good but hokey as hell to me. he covered "if you're happy and you know it," "when the saints come marching in," and "you are my sunshine." it was very elementary school music teacher to me but he was very positive and the things he was doing with a sampler were cool. i'm trying not to be a hater because the talent and vibe were definitely there.
cage the elephant is always a fun time. matt didn't crowdsurf and i'm wondering if he got tired of it or if it's in his live nation contract that he can't do that anymore. their catalog is impressive for a rock band formed within the last 20 years. more singalong anthems than i remember them having and that was the fourth time i'd seen them.
rhcp was the flea and john jam show so that was cool. but damn anthony is so annoying. he kept just walking off the stage randomly as if he isn't the fucking frontman for this band and only has 90 minutes to play. the under the bridge into give it away encore was cool since john's in the mix now and they didn't do under the bridge at bonnaroo last time. and with rhcp you can watch flea the whole time and be entertained. i'm pretty sure flea flatfoot jumped onto the top of his amps for the encore, we're not sure how he got all the way up there.
i was pretty shot after standing for a couple shows in the what pit so i got dinner and sat outside of this tent for parcels. i didn't actually see the band the whole time but i thought it sounded really good and was a pleasant wind down set after a busy day.
sunday started with getting into inforoo for chappell and i've already talked about that. but after that we went to the carly rae pit and i'm just glad i got to see run away with me in the pit so i was whelmed even with the rain delay.
i posted up for taking back sunday and was really excited for them and it was ok. they're touring behind a new album and opened with a new song and they would play a couple hits then put in a new song then do the same thing and i thought the energy was off. but the mosh was fun and the band closing with cut from the team and makedamnsure was a party. people were crowdsurfing the whole time during those two and i was helping people up.
i caught about 20 minutes of fred again and was really impressed with what i saw. i thought his stage setup was neat and the music was more engaging to me than what would play at the average edm set. my pal was ready to go to camp so we bailed pretty early but i definitely emerged a fred fan.
bonnaroo was fun. i hope the two guys that book bonnaroo bring in sexyy red and charli xcx next year.
Read if you want I know it’s late for a recap but I’ve been so busy with work since I’ve gotten back. (Sorry I don’t know what paragraphs are)
This was my 10th Bonnaroo and a big one for me! I went alone but knew two other groups with serval people in each that I saw and hung out with at time or just ran into randomly which is fun. But I realize that going solo really is for me, it’s so nice to have everything be at your own pace. I made it into one of the official recap videos (I’m the second person smiling) and made it into the Tennesseean online newspaper not once but TWICE!
Wednesday: Got to the grounds around 1 and was put right by the little pond all the way tucked in the back corner which was honestly really nice. Never seen the pond until this year but only heard about it. Had a minute or 2 walk to pod 2 and was really close to my friends who got there the day before even. I think I just got extremely lucky with my timing of getting in for being where I was. Met up with other friends for WITW at night but only saw who I think was Machinedrum which was fun and my friends who I was with was their first time at Roo so they just wanted to dance and do something. They stayed for Chase & Status but I didn’t and was probably my only real regret of the whole fest. Went back to camp and crashed knowing the week ahead and being tired after driving 8 hours and then setting up camp.
Thursday: Got in early and got my merch and went back to the car to drop it off and go back in. Saw some of Eggy which was okay, I loved them and thought they were awesome when I saw them locally at a small venue with Daniel Donato. They just had such a short set and I already was leaving it early to get a good spot for Say She She so it wasn’t anything special for me. Say She She next was unbelievable, they sounded so good and I was freaking out and loving every second of them covering Slippery People. Wish they played Fortune Teller but oh well that set was beautiful. Stayed in the tent and saw some of Sid Sriram who was good but then the parachute people were outside the tent and got distracted and me and my friend played with the parachute and went under it for the rest of the set which was memorable and fun. Next I went my own way and got some food and waited in the pit line for PL on the main stage. My god that those PL sets on Thursday were so fuckin good. Opened with the live debut of Blue Skies and went into Hot Like Sauce next. also played Color of My Soul and did PL vs Radiohead vs Nirvana vs NIN and ended the first set with Its Tricky remix. Second set we got a Jolene swirl and Sound of Silence with Gorillaz thrown in there. To end the set they played I Know The Truth with A Milli swirl at the start and then one big sing a long to Finally Moving. I literally couldn’t have asked for a better set. I’ve been watching so many of the streams up until Roo and he played practically everything I wanted him to play. Sad to have missed Nation Of Language and Geese which was heartbreaking. But that PL set was exactly what I needed. I’m sure I’ll still have time to see both other bands. After that I caught the tail end of Neal Francis and then went over to GWAR which musically wasn’t that good but definitely was a fun and entertaining show. I intended to be soaked in blood but even tho I was close I didn’t get a single drop on me. I was really hoping a GWAR show was gonna have a lot more blood. I enjoyed them ripping off the face of Benjamin Netanyahu tho! Stayed for half the set and then went to go get water and walk back to camp.
Friday: Started my day early with MIKE who was great. I was on the right side juggling in my chicken pants and this guy Jake Crandall from The Tennesseean newspaper asked if he could take pictures of me! Which I ended up being online in the article Fashion on the Farm. www.tennessean.com/picture-gallery/entertainment/music/2024/06/14/bonnaroo-2024-fashion-costumes-at-the-farm-in-tennessee/74092368007/ I’m the 16th picture down if you want to see me! Sorry I am too slow to properly link pictures on here. Stayed for Mdou Moctar who I thought were great but I wish played a different setlist, so much I didn’t get to hear them play but that’s my only complaint. Chilled in the shade for Japanese House which was relaxing. Checked out the beginning of Hamdi who I thought was great and kinda wish I stayed for. But went over to finally see Gary Clark Jr. who I’ve missed before and he was good but also just chilled in the shade and listened, ate a tab of L and went over to Grouplove. Man what a crazy packed tent they had, it was spilling out everywhere. I thought they were good and fun, Space Oddity and Song 2 were fun cover choices and they said it was 10 years on the farm for them which is cute because this was my 10th Roo and sadly missed them back in 2014. After I went to go eat and get into the pit line for Khruangbin. Watched some of Dominic Fike who I like but he was on something for sure. He was the same way at Shaky Knees when I saw him. He’d be really good if he wasn’t so messed up all the time. Anyways got into the pit and was basically rail in the pit. I could touch the rail but I was a row behind technically so I had space to dance and groove still. This hands down was the best set of the weekend for me. This set was ethereal to me, the acid was at its peak, everyone was groovin around me. They all sounded so good live and Laura Lee is so cute, I loved her dancing around all silly like. The vibes were immaculate throughout the set. I knew their was gonna be songs off the new album played but I really didn’t expect the whole first half to be all new stuff which wasn’t bad but just interesting as a choice. I also TECHNICALLY made it into the official People Everywhere Bonnaroo post on Instagram. My beard and mouth is visible right next to the guy that was in front of me. So that was also icing on the cake for me. Nothing felt real after this set ended. Walking out of that pit felt like static, I was filled with titillation. I was gonna go to Interpol but it was so far away, I also thought about catching some of JRAD but also was still floating on that Khruangbin high. I realized after leaving the pit I was really close to the stage if I stayed there for Post. But instead I walk all the way around the main stage to the other side to meet my friend so me and her could see Posty together. Which I’m realy happy I did because it was nice to be with someone at that set! It was their first headliner show at Roo and we got to see Billy Strings come out and play Rockstar and Stay which despite the difficulties at the beginning was really cute and cool to witness. Left before Congratulations but saw the fireworks from the back. Kinda wish I stayed for the encore because I did really want to hear Sunflower but had to also get my friend to her other friends for T-Pain and still make it to The Mars Volta which I successfully did! The crowd at TMV was smaller than I thought but that didn’t matter because they sounded great. This was one of my most anticipated sets. I’ve seen them twice before recently tho. One time in full at Rockville and the other time was at Shaky Knees but during the set I had my big freak out on acid. So this was technically a redemption set. I have my redemption set at Rockville which was nice and I’m happy I saw them in full there. But this was my chance to see them again tripping. ELL I don’t know what it is. I don’t know if I love this band too much. Or if my OCD gets triggered. Or if I just can’t see this band while tripping but I almost had a freak out again. I stayed for half of the set until I started getting to in my head. L’Via was amazing but it’s already an 11 minute song and they extended it so much longer that I think my brain can’t comprehend it. (OCD can’t handle it I think). I didn’t have a bad freak out like I did at Shaky which is good because I didn’t have anyone with me unlike at Shaky where I had people to bring me to the med tent. But I left the set and got water because I was out and needed to breath and get hydrated. I felt I couldn’t go back to the set so I found myself watching some of T-Pain. I thought he was a little corny for me. But he sounded great at times. But I think it’s what my over analytical brain needed to buffer down from TMV set. I really wish I stayed for it but I don’t think it’s a band I can’t see live while tripping. Which is sad but at least a lesson I’ve now fully learned. Maybe one day but who knows. What I did see was great but sadly they don’t rank high because of how much I saw and my headspace. But luckily I did get to catch the end of Thundercat who I wanted to see as well even though I thought the last time I saw him was really sporadic noddling and I wasn’t able to dance too. This time was much better and I could get down and funky too. So overall it was honestly a great way to do late night. I usually am someone who never splits sets. But I am happy I caught some of all three of them and got to hear my favorite songs at each set still!
Saturday: Started my day in Centeroo early once again because if I don’t I’ll have fomo for life. My friend really wanted to see Ryan Beatty and I told her beforehand I’d get her into the pit. I chilled under the trees but she went in to the pit. But this was a nice relaxing set of someone with a lot of talent playing to a few people before they really blow up. Made me think of seeing Billie Eilish play at the same stage early one morning back in 2018. After I got some food in me and then made the final decision to either see The Teskey Brothers or Bakar. I wanted to see both so badly and ended up going to see Bakar which was a good choice and I really enjoyed the set. Next I chilled under the trees in the shade for Brittany Howard with my friend again. Man I was entranced by her voice, we need Alabama Shakes back soon with a new album. I would’ve been right up in that pit if it wasn’t so god damn hot. Ate 2 tabs of acid while sitting there. Before she ended we went to go see Neil Frances who was awesome! I love when electronic bands play The Other, it gives them such a great sound. They were awesome and was around such cool and beautiful people in that crowd as the sun was just starting to go down more. After my friend Julia and I really made it a goal to get pit for Cage The Elephant and we luckily did. That pit line was crazy and a mess. But we got in and had amazing spots. This was my 6th time seeing Cage and third time at Bonnaroo itself! I saw them in the Which pit during the day in 2014, late night Which in 2017 and now main stage What pit. When the time comes for them to headline in 2030 as our legacy act I’ll make sure I’m in that pit too. But seriously, wow what an electric show. I don’t think any other sets I saw this year were that high energy on the farm. Definitely one of my top sets all weeekend. Probably third overall. Absolute banger of a setlist, I feel bad for everyone around me because I was going hard and knew every word even off of two tabs which I usually start fumbling my words more at that point. I really wish they played the song 2024 because what other year or time did they have the chance too. After this set left again like I did leaving Khruangbin, fried and like static. Bonnaroo was a wasteland at this point, so much dust I could feel it on my gums. I knew nothing could compare to what I just witnessed and was living on that high. Our other friend was rail for The Garden ao we went there to go see them and find her after to meet up for RHCP after. The Garden was fun. I’m glad I was there to get cursed by them. I was in the back juggling the whole time because of how fitting it was. Met and talked to other flow artists and tried to teach them how to juggle and they tried showing me how to do other flow stuff. Got a good spot for RHCP which I thought was a good show! I don’t mind their new stuff and I knew they would play it so that was fine. I’m really happy I’ve got to see and hear them play Zephyr Song which was my highlight. I’m sorry but John Frusciante really was the highlight of the whole thing. Him and Flea jamming were really the best part. So I’m happy to have seen them now as the original lineup. Happy we got Under The Bridge this time since we didn’t last time. But I was walking away from the main stage at that time to get all the way to the other side to get to Parcels in time. The group couldn’t keep up except for my one friend who was the only one who came and watched all of Parcels with me! Parcels was my number one answer for n last years survey so this show was a big deal for me. I’ve been dying to see them since I found out about them after missing them at Shaky years ago. My god what an amazing set this was! Second best set of the weekend for me hands down and rivals Khruangbin by a hair. The vibes at this set were phenomenal. I think this is the set I’ve thought about the most since being back home. I danced so much and where I was more off to the right side just outside the tent but still really close was a be here right now moment. I just want to thank everyone around me for making it feel like home. It was one giant dance party off to that side and I hope it was on the other side as well. It’s the most fun and special time I’ve had with my friend at that set. It lives in both our minds forever now and I dream everyday to be back dancing at this exact set. I’ve never seen a crowd cheer for as long as they did in between songs at this set. It’s one of those sets that made me realize that Bonnaroo truly has the best crowd out there, and it made me proud to be apart of it. After the set I walked my friend back to the arch so she could get back to camp while I stayed to get ready for PL. I got some food, walked around and rested during Diplo. But I did hear him playing a version of Thunderclouds by LSD which I really love so I will give him props for that. That was nice to hear in passing while looking for food. After I sat down for PL, he started strong with I Know The Truth which was epic with everyone up there. Then the set was just Daren and Micheal which was intimate and cool. I really like they they did this approach for the time of the set. I took a little nap for like 20 minutes and then I woke up and decided I need to go closer so I went really close up and danced and vibed until the sun came up. What a beautiful way to end it bringing everyone out again at the end and doing Blue Skies to come full circle with what he opened with on Thursday to the last thing he played on Sunday morning as the sky becomes blue again. Also can we talk about that I want to break free/ heaven is a place on earth track? God damn that hit perfectly at that time. After I walked back to my camp to pass out and wake up in a few hours.
Sunday: Even after PL sunrise, I’m a trooper and made it into Centeroo first thing for Armand Hammer. He was cool but I was tired so I just chilled and watched. Next I saw some of Chappell Roan from far back but even her being at The Which, I thought she sounded amazing. I only stayed for the first three songs but I kinda wish I stayed for the whole thing because she really was that good. Instead I went and got pit for Milky Chance. I know it’s just Milky Chance but I really love these guys and I had a lot of fun at their set! Their new sound is more electronic and dancey which I honestly think is very fitting and a fun vibe for them. They brought out the chick from Teh Beaches to do their song Living In a Haze which I was hoping would happen since she played in a tent the set before theirs. I also almost caught his first pick he tossed out. It went straight at me but went straight through my legs and someone else got it. Big sad. And then the last pick they through also went right by me but the guy next to me got it first. Was a little bit hurt about this but nothing I could do. Found my friend at Badbadnotgood and although good set it wasn’t anything special to me. Went to go see Four Tet after and was enjoying until the rain made them kick us all out. I even told my friend we don’t need to leave and we can just stay in here and ignore them so we don’t have to come back in. But what did we do. We walked out and then just waited at the gate to get right back in. Saw Ashnikko next and thought she was awesome, got the crowd hype, brought the bad girl slut energy out that I needed to see Megan next. Wish I saw Greensky Bluegrass because I really wanted to hear Time > Breathe but oh well it’s a hot girl summer. Megan was good and thought she had great stage presence. Wish she rapped more and used less backing vocals. Joey Bad@$$ after was awesome! Been dying to see him since I was in high school and it was well worth the wait. He killed this set and did a lot better than I anticipated. Last but not least was Fred Again.. I thought his set was really fun and good! I stayed the whole thing besides the last song or two which I kinda regret. But thought the set was really good and a fun way to end the whole fest. He seemed really happy up there and was happy to get a chance to see him since he’s so big now. Super talented dude, and anyone at that set understands why he is as big as he is. During this set Jake Crandall found me again juggling in the crowd and took another picture! Chatted again and he realized I was the guy he took a picture of a few days before. I didn’t have the chicken pants on this time so he didn’t recognize me lol. www.tennessean.com/picture-gallery/entertainment/music/2024/06/16/bonnaroo-2024-chappell-roan-jason-isbell-headline-tennessee-festival-sunday/74118348007/ I’m the 11th picture down in this one! If you want to see as well! After leaving the arch I saw a guy with a skateboard. I asked him if I could do a kickflip for in which he goes, sure if you can. And on first try in front of a whole crowd of people leaving the arch I do a beautiful kickflip and the whole crowd cheers for me. I felt so good in that moment. I wanted to go to Alison Wonderland but needed to stop by the camp first. Chilled for awhile and then as soon as I got up to go in to the woods I checked my phone and it said it was at full capacity so I just stayed back at camp. Cleaned up and took down some stuff and went to bed.
I love you all, thanks to whoever was bored enough to read all of this. One of the best Bonnaroo’s I’ve been too. Couldn’t ask for a better one. I don’t know how I would even rank this one. All Roo’s are my favorite I can’t pick they are like my kids. Also had the realization that next year will be my 11th year which in turn will be half of all the Bonnaroo’s ever. Which made me realize how long I have been going to this. 11year of Roo and 11 years missed before my time. Been seeing so much 11:11 on the farm and angel numbers after more than ever before. Hope 2025 is as amazing as ever!

Not one of you fuckers came up and said hi to me tho. I’ll remember that next year. Jk but really. If you see someone running around on top of a chicken please come say hi. I always want to meet people on here and I’ve only met one person on here and it wasn’t even at Bonnaroo lmao.
