Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I’ve seen Alison/Alexandra over the years and though she doesn’t play that much that I like, I never really thought it was bad. I haven’t heard any of this alternate project, so I’m hoping I will like the stuff more than an Alison Wonderland show.
I saw some of the Whyte Fang set at this past Coachella and it was fantastic. It was extra epic because she was very pregnant at the time...but it left me wanting to see the set again. I think it will go over very well at Bon.
I don't think we should change it to Bon, versus keeping it Roo.
I think the lineup really suffers from some overbillings eating up sub spots.
Cage (4th - 2017 to 2nd) Maggie Rogers (3rd Lolla 2023 to 2nd) Jason Isbell (5th 2020/21 to 3rd) Seven Lions (7th 2021 to 4th) Two Friends (20th Coachella 2023 to 4th) - how the fuck did this happen? Melanie Martinez (7th Lolla Brazil 2023 to 3rd) Cigarettes After Sex (10th Lolla Brazil 2023 to 4th) JRAD (9th 2019 to 5th)
Meg, Diplo, Khruangbin, & CRJ are the only properly billed acts in the 2-5 range and that’s why this lineup is a bit of an eyesore. Replace those 5 acts who shouldn’t be in the top 5 on their day and we’d be really cooking.
I don't really disagree with her billing, but Meg is overbilled based on her billing other places this year. Diplo shouldn't be on the lineup. Who is Melanie Martinez
Isbell deserves the bump after the Childers popularity last year.
I can't comment on how EDM sells, it's wild to me how much Electric Forest tickets cost, and is a guaranteed sellout, when I've rarely willingly listened to more than 18% of the lineup.
Pretty Lights has also been announced to perform a “sunrise set” at the close of the festival on Sunday, June 16. In addition, a press release also states that Bonnaroo 2024 will mark the only festival appearance from Fred Again…
This is without any research who I’m excited for. Not including acts I’d check out if there’s no conflicts.
Thursday Pretty Lights GWAR Geese Neal Francis Say She She Militarie Gun
Friday Khruanbin Joe Russo Dominic Fike Interpol TV Girl Gary Clark Jr. The Mars Volta Faye Webster Thundercat Mdou Moctar
Saturday Red Hot Chili Peppers Cage The Elephant Parcels Brittany Howard IDLES BADBADNOTGOOD
Sunday Megan The Stallion Jason Isbell Carly Rae Jepsen Joey Bada$$ Goth Babe Ashnikko
I haven't had a chance to scour the lineup or check out acts I don't know (which is most of the lineup) but your list is probably pretty close to what I'll end up watching. Throw in Bakar, not sure what else.
At first glance, I counted about 20 shows I wouldn't mind seeing and none I'm super excited for, which has never happened with a Bonnaroo lineup. I'll definitely go if my group does but I could honestly take it or leave it and do something else that doesn't require a 1300 mile roundtrip and all the associated hassle. Maybe it's time to check out another big festival instead, like All Good, Mountain Jam, or maybe Wakarusa or Firefly.
I didn’t realize All Good and Mountain Jam were still around. I’ve always wanted to go to MJ because I live in Brooklyn and it’s relatively close.

How are we feeling about this after sleeping on it?
I’m pretty stoked on this lineup. When you look at the poster it doesn’t necessarily pop and I’m not over the moon with the headliners. But there’s about 31 acts in the undercard that I’m excited for and that’s not included artists I vaguely know and would check out with no conflicts. I also haven’t done a deep dive yet on bands I haven’t heard of. So I’m sure there’s more to discover. Someone mentioned it earlier that it’s missing a few acts that would make it more interesting like boygenius or The Smile. Also there’s no what the F left field booking this year like KOЯN. But overall I’m happy with the lineup.

I've warmed up to it a lot. I think while the Foo Fighters are a much better band than RHCP, I know pretty much all of the latter's setlist so I would probably enjoy the show a bit more for that.
I think having a huge Sunday and slow Saturday is such an interesting way to do it that hasn't ever really been done? Feel like I could go hard on the first two days. Take the third day off almost entirely with maybe one or two shows. And then end the weekend with a rager.
And after digging into the lineup there is a lot of quality music here. The only thing that really still bugs me is the lack of early bonnaroo legacy acts. And the emo Superjam. I wasn't an emo kid. So this lineup really feels like Bonnaroo leaving behind its roots to the past archives and fully embracing the Gen Z era of the oversaturated festival market, which I have thoughts on but really is probably just me aging out of the festival scene.

Not sure where they got that information but it makes no sense.
I blame Bonnaroo on this one. Honestly. If you look at the flyer it shows pretty lights sunrise set underneath Sunday. I think NME got this one wrong and just emailed their editor. but still, I can see why they made that assumption.

This has to be a bit, ofc you go 4/4 on mentioning failed festivals. Too bad there's no Bonnaroo East coast.

Whoever wrote that article did 0 research, read the sunrise set was underneath Sunday and figured that's the day it was on. Which is not the case at all.
How are we feeling about this after sleeping on it?
after finally getting a good night's sleep and spending a little time yesterday listening to some acts i feel pretty good about it. not 100% in, i'm weighing alternatives.
unsorted miscellaneous comments:
-pretty lights on what thursday is great. two pretty lights sets are great, my question to myself is will i be able to stay up late enough for the sunrise set? if not that's basically a "headliner" set that i can't count to my value add.
-fred again: i was a lot more excited about fred again when i thought it would be a DJ set and not a "live" set or whatever you call he does now. it might still be super cool but i haven't been particularly jazzed by the cell phone videos of his shows i've seen on youtube. feels less dancey and more quiet/contemplative which isn't really what i'm looking for in a mainstage set.
-undercard acts i'm interested in: bigxthaplug, disco lines, eggy, gwar, militarie gun, nation of language, roisin murphy, say she she, jrad, key glock, thundercat, isoxo, shy fx, mdou moctar, hamdi, diplo, jon batiste, parcels, knock2, ethel cain, bbng, whyte fang, kasablanca, mike, isbell, four tet, greensky, the garden, tsha
-undercard acts i'm SUPER excited about/can't miss undercard sets:
^^^and that's really the problem. i know my musical interests and don't expect to have but a ton of those, but i do expect to have a few. for example, last year i had mmj, korn, knocked loose, sts9 (and to my earlier point i didn't make sts9 because i couldn't stay up late enough). the two artists on this lineup i really adore are PL and isbell, but i get the chance to see isbell roughly every 18 months locally so not that big a deal to me. something like a king gizz or an oysterhead would help a ton. i'm confident with this undercard i'd have no problem stringing together a day of interesting stuff but its more fun when you have those anchors to look forward to and build a day around.
You do wish that they would book more legacy/heritage acts but it is staggering that Anthony and Flea are older than a lot of the classic big headliners from the peak years.
2024 RHCP are older than Bruce and Stevie Wonder and Tom Petty when those guys played. They're about the same age that Bob Dylan was when he played. Life comes at you fast.

THE GOOD: a lot of stuff i like. i counted 26 acts i’d see based off familiarity. everyone i’ve talked to that i’m going with likes the lineup even though the headliners are pretty mid. i also think there’s a lot of potential for late night between mars volta, jrad, and pretty lights.
there’s a good amount of gems sprinkled in like carly rae jepsen, four tet, and sean paul that i feel will not be that well attended while some bigger acts are going on.
thursday having a headliner is cool. i’m looking forward to seeing all of the people that will go way too hard way too fast at pretty lights.
electronic acts this year are pretty good imo and bonnaroo has a good jam selection between kbin, jrad, and eggy. decent amount of stuff to mosh to like idles and taking back sunday.
THE BAD: emo superjam lol. it’d be doable if they’d booked a few more emo acts that don’t even have to be that big. taking back sunday is the only decent emo act on the whole lineup. some have already mentioned it but john batiste and thundercat are perfectly capable superjam hosts that could’ve stepped in but instead we’re going to get bonnaroo’s version of emo night. either go all in with the emo if you’re going to have a superjam or don’t have one at all
sunday is painfully stacked. i’m really looking forward to carly rae, taking back sunday, and four tet but i doubt i’ll see all of them, and that doesn’t include jason isbell, yves tumor or megan thee stallion.
some people have mentioned this too but i don’t have like a favorite band on the lineup which is a little bit of a bummer but i know i’ll have a good time.
and i’ve said it once and i’ll say it again. headliners are mid.

3post1jack1 I guarantee you that Fred’s set will be dancier than Odesza at least. The slow parts of his builds are more emotive than most dance music but it’s still dance music for sure.

that is good to know thank you. watching clips of these videos they felt quiet but i'm guessing that's just because they are phone videos and the dynamics of the audio isn't translating. i do listen to and enjoy fred on spotify, being a postpunk guy i'm a big fan of being sad and dancing.

Fred Again will def be a dance party. Have been to two of his shows and my biggest complaint is more the people at his shows than the actual music.. at a four day festival with no single day tickets I think that will be combated a bit.. plus the what stage is big enough that you can have your area

Everyone has made some great points.
Here's my rundown looking at the 2023 and 2024 lineups next to each other.
I will have more fun at the headliners this year. I don't think they're better acts necessarily, but I'll have more fun. They're still "fine" but whoever made the point about RHCP being legacy... it's legitimately true.
2023 had some huge anchor acts for me like PJ mentioned. MMJ, Vulfpeck, Sofi Tukker, Paramore, Knocked Loose - these were all extreme hype acts for me that I was familiar with before and knew I would love.
This year has less of that, MTS and say she she might be the only ones at this moment because of how many times I've seen Cage.
Now - There are some acts on here that I'm not so familiar with that I think will carry a lot of weight throughout this weekend. PL, obviously, JRAD, Jon Batiste, Idles, CRJ - these acts all have the possibility to meet or surpass the experience of last years anchor acts. I'm just not as familiar so I don't know for sure.
Last thought is that imo, 2024 bottom 3 lines of each day far surpass 2023. There will be a lot of good acts to catch early in the day with maybe some calmer evenings and then coming back in hard for late night.
How are we feeling about this after sleeping on it?
I think the top lines are the weakest since I’ve been going (2008 with a couple years off) but there’s enough I’ll drive an hour especially since I’ll probably be comped a ticket.
