Just weird that it beat out the last three. It's been out for like only 8 months. I certainly don't think I could say with confidence that it's better than Rats Nest or Omnium. Maaaaybe Ice Death but I still prefer that one over the metal in general.
A friend of mine is constantly trying to get me into them. I think they were the OG "let's make this recording sound shitty on purpose" band and I hate that so much. But I have enjoyed a song or two.

"In response, Lou Reed apparently announced: “Frank Zappa is the most untalented musician I’ve ever heard.” Later adding, “He can’t play rock ‘n’ roll because he’s a loser.” To which VU guitarist Sterling Morrison added: “If you told Frank Zappa to eat shit in public, he’d do it if it sold records. I would do it if I liked to.”"
I said earlier I’ve been going back and listening to everything that’s been eliminated. I like Butterfly way more than I thought I did. I don’t think I listened to it much when it came out because it didn’t grab me. But I was right about Paper Mache,I don’t like it much at all.

There’s some great stuff on “The Best of Guided by Voices: Human Amusements at Hourly Rates”, but I’ve always felt too overwhelmed by their massive discography to really dig any further.
