If you're going the AirBnB route, I'm not much help, but if you're going hotel, we stayed in downtown hotels the last two years and have a downtown hotel booked for next year. There is a bit of nightlife downtown, nothing to get excited about but at least it's walkable. You can take the Trax train in to the festival from downtown if you want, but it's also a cheap and quick ride share so we end up doing that most of the time.
Hey all- My partner and I are considering traveling from out of state to attend Kilby for the first time this year. Starting to try to get a sense for what we’d be in for. Scanning this board, looks like Gang of Four, Panda Bear, Toro y Moi, and bôa are likely based on tour dates. Anyone else y’all are thinking? I think Hovvdy looks possible: Kansas City 5/14 Albuquerque 5/17 OKC 5/20

maybe new order or nick cave also
Another small band Been Stellar has a suspicious tour gap that weekend too.
I guess the question to ask is, who would you feel is a "cant miss" for Kilby to book if given the choice of Nick Cave or New Order in regards to Thursday. Like which makes people freak out more.

I don't know that New Order is the greatest fit for Kilby given that they're mostly known for their 80s stuff and Kilby's legacy artists have been more from the 90s and later. That said, based on setlist.fm it looks like New Order hasn't played SLC in over 30 years, so locals could see them as a big get.
Nick Cave has been around as long as NO but he mostly plays newer stuff these days, so maybe he's the better fit for the fest's vibe and it looks like he's only played there once, in 2017, so locals could be excited by him as well.

Think we are in for this. Especially if Kilby gets Nick Cave and New Order.
Any neighborhood recommendations for lodging?
Anywhere in a 2 mile half radius to the north/south/east of the Fairpark. To the west is mostly industrial and the airport. Anywhere in the downtown area would be ideal.
I guess this really is the “NEW PITCHFORK MUSIC FESTIVAL”now.
Definitely gonna keep my eyes open now.
Its still affordable and theyll always have good avails with the fests around that time frame and theres nothing to directly compete. Goldenvoice so cal fests are their own thing, planes exist and Edc Vegas is a non factor. The only knock is if its Mothers Day weekend or not.

Digging the dates this year simply for that reason. I could give Mrs. GL a Mother’s Day trip while still being there for actual Mother's Day.
Plus if Devo + New Order come to fruition, I’d kick myself for not going.

You wont be disappointed.
I was poking around with pricing it out and would be close to the same amount as going to Chicago (provided I stay near the airport). Definitely doable so it’s really lineup dependent for me at this point.

Having just canceled a trip to see a friend in January (didn't realize I scheduled it on Inauguration Day, a time when my trans ass is not getting caught in buttfuck Louisiana) and with a lot of leftover flight credits, this is definitely on my radar if the lineup is even close to as good as the last two years. Plus, it's been many years since I've been to SLC, since my last trip through Utah only took me through the southern part of the state.
I can’t confirm the validity of the post, but u/YEazyBrazy on Reddit, who seems to have credibility on r/Coachella, shared that bôa, Wisp, The Black Angels, Cheekface, Sleigh Bells, and Yo La Tengo would be playing Kilby.

feel like beach house might turn up at here, considering they're booked for at least one festival a month later
are they a sub or hl?
Of all past KBP headliners, only The Strokes (barely) and Mac DeMarco (by a lot) have more monthly listeners than Beach House. That said, I still see them as a strong sub, but I could be wrong.

Well at TANP they didnt headline but closed a stage so there is a possibility of them getting a similar slot. So them at sunset on Lake Stage would work.
