That's because Wendy's dress just doesn't sway (or wave, depending on your denomination) like Mary's does.
But would Mary wrap her hands around velvet rims and strap her hands 'cross your engines?
Bet not.
Well, that's the thing. I don't have velvet rims. I do have a car with functioning windows, which Mary can roll down and let the wind blow back her hair.
In all seriousness, I couldn't tell you how many hundreds of times I've listened to Thunder Road over the years, yet that piano/harmonica intro still gives me chills every time.

That entire album is perfect, top to bottom. Jealous you're gonna catch the Boss in this latest tour!

I can't wait! This show has already been postponed twice, so I'm cautiously optimistic that it will actually happen this time.

Hey Nathan Fieldcяab, I only have to do Mountain Goats to catch up. If I was the 4th person to contribute, does that qualify for a group ranking? Or would it still not be enough?

I ask because it would be hard...but worth it!
I only banish acts to the Fake Fans list if they have less than 3 lists submitted. MG already clear that bar (7 lists) so feel free to submit! Will get your other late lists added in retroactively when I get a moment (likely next week; will be at a festival on Sunday)

How do you feel about Van Morrison?
Didn’t he get weird and conservative during lockdown?
1. Sorry I don’t really know a lot about metric but DAE remember when Brie Larson sang “Black Sheep” in Scott Pilgrim? Am I the first person to notice this?? Has anyone ever heard of this band before??

I haven’t had time to do this but this sounds about right. Count it as my list.
Do you want to dance while also thinking about all the ways you've failed as a human?

I forgot more The Who than I remember. I had some buddies in college who were big fans. I don’t remember all the deeper cuts except off black and white Quadrophenia which is the only one I had by them. I’m sure this list wouldn’t be the same from day to day so is arbitrary and in the moment. Even though a couple of these are long since played out on classic rock radio, I’m including.
1. Love Rain O’er Me 2. Long Live Rock 3. Join Together (with the band) 4. Dr. Jimmy 5. 5:15 (had to be #5) 6. Who Are You 7. I Am the Sea 8. My Generation 9. Won’t Get Fooled Again T. Pinball Wizard
HM - The Acid Queen, The Punk and the Godfather, I Can See for Miles, Magic Bus. Slip Kid, Behind Blue Eyes, Eminence Front
Quadrophenia is tied for my all time favorite movie with Altered States. And I’ve gotten to see The Who twice in later years - both shows hit.
1. Love Reign O'er Me 2. Baba O' Riley 3. The Seeker 4. Won't Get Fooled Again 5. My Generation 6. Naked Eye 7. Magic Bus 8. Behind Blue Eyes 9. The Kids Are Alright 10. Pictures of Lily

The Who is that band I grew up listening to a lot because my dad liked them. The epitome of dad rock to me. Esteban is right about Quadrophenia, it fucking slaps.

Just watched Altered States for the first time last night. Wild as fuck.
Yeah, it's pretty insane. It's a simple plot - psychopathologist goes from isolation tanks to isolation tanks+ studying schizophrenia and other states of consciousness and ends up de-evolving into the/a missing link between humanity and apehood. We saw it at the midnight movie back in the early 1980's, and it always stuck with me. It's not the most intricate movie or anything, but it was the first movie William Hurt was in and I think Drew Barymore (as a small child) as well. Hurt would go onto being one of the best actors of that generation often playing pretty difficult parts (e.g. Molina in Kiss of the Spider Woman which he won an Oscar for and which was very grey territory for 1985). Glad you appreciated it.
If you've never seen Quadrophenia, it's also pretty wild. It centers around the mid 1960's Brighton beach riots/wars between Mods and Rockers. So it's got a historical backdrop while Dr. Jimmy is losing his mind to schizophrenia and descending into depression from his use of "blues." I'm pretty sure it marked the debut of Sting as an actor, and he's great in his part as higher-up Mod.
