Reminder this closes up in about 48 hours so be ready to submit your lists soon if you've been working on them! We have 10 submission so far, which is great but I bet we can get even more
On to Pearl Jam starting on Sunday if you're the type that works ahead (or as I accidentally called them in the headliner thread last month, "Peral Jam")
For newer NIN I'm also a big fan of "The Background World" and I listen to the whole song, even the ~6 minutes of repeating distorted sounds at the end.
I'm going to be curious to see how Hurt scores out. Johnny Cash kind of owns that one in the same way Hendrix owns All Along The Watchtower. I wonder if it would've done better two decades ago?

I didn't put Hurt in my list because I was a latecomer to it (partly Johnny Cash's fault. damn his eyes.) But its still a fantastic song and easily could have been in my top 10. It certainly would be in the 11-15 range even on a bad day. Kind of amazing that it still doesn't sound like anything else in the NIN catalog.

it's a fantastic song and Johnny Cash's version is superb.
the song exploder series on netflix has an episode about Hurt that deepened my appreciation for it. there is a lot going on in that NIN version i never thought about.
having said that, it's a song i love to hear live but i rarely listen to it otherwise.
1. Terrible Lie 2. The Frail 3. Closer 4. Piggy 5. Head Like A Hole 6. The Wretched 7. Hurt 8. Heresy 9. La Mer 10. The Day the World Went Away
So at the request of a couple people we're gonna be counting The Frail/The Wretched and La Mer/The Great Below as individual entries when doing the final tally. Since you have Frail and Wretched as two separate entries, you're more than welcome to combine them + add another song on if you'd like!

Amazingly, I've never even heard the Johnny Cash version of "Hurt" or if I have, I remember nothing about it.
