2024 down, time to speculate 2025 for the best (okay, ymmv on that and there are some issues) mid level festival in the US (assuming it is still happening next year)
If 2024 is to be followed... it will be: Something to please the execs at Conde Nast that does not make sense as a Pitchfork headliner - Something that fits perfectly in the Pitchfork mold - Something that is not really in line with what one would expect Pitchfork to book but pops up with tour dates in the area
Who will headline in 2025?/Who do you want to headline in 2025?/Who would you like to see as an undercard act?
Charli would of course be awesome but I wonder if she is too big? Her date here at the United Center with Troye is sold out and usually Pitchfork does not get acts once they have hit the arena stage (if there are examples of this please correct me)

Logistically, you’re spot on. I’m not sure if it makes sense for them to book her. It’s a just a want that’s gonna change a million times between now and February/March.

I might be totally off on her draw but is she a true arena act? It's a co-headlining tour and I thought I read that it didn't sell well outside of major markets. I feel like she's still within range for P4K.

Charli would def fit and be fine. Like itll draw but its still not like a big reach. Last time she played she subbed.
Also worth remembering Charli insta sold out Radius earlier this year too. But as always I’m not going to speculate too hard about who’ll be in play other than D’Angelo after they had him at one point in 2023 and now that there’s some evidence he’s at least looking for 2025 dates.

that tour across the country was sitting unsold until Brat dropped and now it is mostly sold through. its a charli show not a troye show

wow, i remember checking before brat came out and it was super undersold, now it seems like most shows are at least 80%

A lot of people dont like getting tours announced way before an album releases cause they want to have a better informed decision before buying. And the audience in general isnt always a buy the minute it goes on sale type. There will be a good amount of week of buyers and even walk ups depending on the city.
I know we’re all spooked by The State of Festivals rn and the downsizing/VIP changes/Conde Nast but I don’t see how this doesn’t come back next year, let alone because of all the weirdly high profile alcohol brand sponsors they maintain.
Hopefully attendance was strong enough on Saturday and Sunday for this to come back next year.
Apparently they sold 70% of total tickets. But that number was from Friday so you cant account for any walk up sales Sat and Sun. So 40,000 ish tix split across the weekend isnt too too bad. Friday was missing the headliner name to get that bump or else this all wouldve been a much more typical weekend that we normally see.
The Smile also had a pretty small crowd on Friday last year in spite of being Radiohead Lite too. (Didn’t see black pumas so can’t judge on that. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
There’s a new collab album coming out next year with Julien Baker and Torres. It’s a country album. They debuted a song from the album tonight together on stage. I could see this project making an appearance next year.

Geordie Greep new album rips, playing Pitchfork London, and Chicago date in January that should have already passed by the time this lineup drops... I'd be into it
