Gotta dive into a few of these names, but would be stoked for SG, Florence, Feist and Say She She
I'd bank on Waxahatchee next year, she could bring along Kevin Morby, MJ Lenderman and Lucinda Williams as guests. Bonnie Light Horseman feel pretty safe to me too.
Could see the return of Fleet Foxes, Father John Misty or Phoebe Bridgers. Maybe Robin Pecknold could rope Joanna Newsom in too.
Still think Vampire Weekend and HAIM would be great Fort acts.
Some fresh names to Newport I'd like to see next year: Alvvays Bully Damien Jurado Flock of Dimes (she already got a nice taste with the Sylvan Esso crew) Jake Xerxes Fussell Joanna Sternberg Ratboys Rosali Soccer Mommy Sudan Archives
I'd also love to see Neko Case, Laura Marling, Nilufer Yanya come back. It'd be fun to see a full band St. Vincent at Newport.
I like futurebirds but the amount of comments that newport post received requesting futurebirds was bot level… 70% of the comments are futurebirds, so weird

The people I know who are into that band are REALLY into that band

Went to see an extra VW ticket through Lyte yesterday and it said the website was under maintenance. Checked again today and it had the same message. Then I saw this:

Just found out this morning that the lead singer/songwriter of Ezra Bell, Ben Waumett, passed away. They were the perfect band for Newport and it is tragic that he died so young. I really wanted everyone to discover their music. It felt like a treasure that my family had discovered... somehow their songs broke through the Spotify algorithm and they became #1 in our rotation. They were scheduled to play their first show in Boston on November 24th.
I will take this moment to recommend that you all explore their music in the coming days/weeks. They have a large catalog for a band that is relatively under the radar. Some of my favorites: 5 Year Binge Pick a Place and Read Cousins No One is Coming to Save Us

Initial lineups released for Green River and FloydFest. Not sure if Mt. Joy is more or less likely for Newport by headlining both. And the highly requested Futurebirds are playing both too.
I'm indifferent to Mt. Joy, but the other top names for Green River are great for my tastes. Geese at FloydFest has me hopeful too.
I'd think that they would have moved on from the project by next summer. The New Basement Tapes thing didn't even stay together long enough for more than a couple of shows.
Doesn't Jay Sweet occasionally book some local-ish New England singer songwriters for an early day spot? I saw a guy who writes and sings like a cross between Jason Isbell and Tyler Childers earlier this evening at open mic night at the legendary Club Passim in Harvard Square. My jaw dropped as he sang the first line of his first song (of two).
