My off the cuff bottom 5 are Mississippi, Alabama, Kansas, Oklahoma and North Dakota. Iowa is in the running too. Louisiana is bottom 20 but they invented multiple cuisines (Cajun, Creole, Cane River, etc.) and two types of music. The north half of the state is evangelized and has tons of assholes making them look like most of the south.
Off the cuff Top 5 would be out of Colorado, Hawai’i, California, Oregon, Washington, North Carolina, Alaska (so massive but it will be underrated), Florida New York, and the 6 New England states.
Bottom 5 MS, AR, MO, KS, WV
Arkansas is pretty cool. You have the Ozarks and Ouachitas. Hot Springs, Little Rock, Eureka Springs and the NWA are all cool as hell. Missouri also has KC and StL along with Lake of the Ozarks and lots of beautiful physical features. West Virginia is incredible to drive across with great mountains and valleys.

New Orleans alone puts Louisiana in the top 20 imo.

New Orleanians appreciate this. However this one wishes the city would secede from the state since it is gerrymandered and doesn’t represent what people there want from state or federal representation. It would be great to just be a city state or carve us out and let us rejoin France (eg Take Us Back Chirac!). Lafayette is also pretty cool as far as food and culture. The rest of the state north of the I-10 is welcome to join Texas Mississippi or Arkansas. They can take the Bayou region too. Not that there aren’t great people and awesome fishing and shit. But they need to go.
I hope this ends up basically being the 20 most relevant states. Gonna suck if something like Texas just isn't in it.
Texas is so hard to rank. My biggest beef with Texans is that too many of them think they are above others because they are Texan which is laughable to me. But even those who present that shit are usually cool as hell. Plus Houston, Austin, San Antonio, RGV, South Padre/Brownsville, Dallas and El Paso all make up for Midland, Odessa, Abilene, Waco, San Angelo, Amarillo and other shitty places. They have awesome food and regional cuisines and fantastic breweries like Jester King. Terrain is varied across the state from coastal swamps and bayous to hill country, beaches, plains, desert and even Big Bend which is a unique habitat. Hard to say where I’d rank it. But I think it comes in top half of the 50 states. I go there more than anywhere except Florida and New Orleans.

going to Santa Fe/ABQ in a couple weeks hit me with the recs NM truthers
It’s been many years, but it is just a beautiful area. One highlight I recall is Sky City/Acoma Pueblo just west of Albuquerque. The oldest continuously inhabited place in the U.S. (assuming it’s still inhabited - again, it’s been a while).
Hawai(okina symbol)i is very underrated as #6. We only have 40% of the states’ participation which would place it at #15 out of all 50 states. Regardless of downsides no way is it #15. I’ll compromise my 2 for 3 or 4 (states #7.5 and #10) if anyone else is in.

We don’t know. People thought that in the Bonnaroo blind which I didn’t vote in because it was a bullshit (but funny) exercise for people who weren’t there and/or who had biases for the performers that would be in direct disagreement from those of us who attended. The rest of this could be a couple cool states and lots of shitty ones. In any event, Hawai’i isn’t the 15th best state as where it stands now it’s better than that.
