I disagree. Just got back from a delicious lunch at Craft Bar after going to the Saturday Pensacola Market and hitting Bodacious for some Tuscan herb infused white balsamic to go with the blood orange olive oil I got last time I was home. It’s more 8 than 17. 17 implies state #42.5 whereas 8 implies 20. There are way more than 7.5 states worse than Florida. Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, the Dakotas, Iowa, Arkansas, Kansas, Nebraska, Indiana, Ohio, South Carolina, Utah, Montana, Idaho, Missouri, Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia, Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, Wyoming, etc. I’m not at all saying all of those states suck and have nothing going for them. But Florida has plenty of good and great along with the bad and terrible.

I love to shit on Florida, but what on earth are we doing here? I think even 8 is too low but 17?? On what planet?
There's plenty to hate about the state. There's tons of freaks who have their brains baked by the sun. It's way too hot and humid most of the year. The governor is a national embarrassment. You can't buy 6 packs of tallboys. It's trashy all over.
But guess what baby, that's just America! At least there's shit to do, beaches, tons of sports teams, great colleges, two of the best theme parks this side of the world, and it has a lot of personality even if you hate the state. I have a really hard time believing half of you think that Florida is equal to or worse than the Dakotas, Mississippi, Missouri, Arkansas, Alabama (no offense Teddy), Iowa, etc.

and it isn't even like its Louisiana where its just NOLA and nothing. If you can't find one or two cities you like amongst Tallahassee, Jax, Miami, Tampa, Orlando, etc., then that sounds like a skill issue imo.

Florida has colleges but idk about "great" colleges. No offense to anyone who went to school in Florida but their top ranked college is Miami which is 49th nationally. For a state of Florida's size, that's kind of pathetic.

But we have fun colleges to go to like FSU and UF.

Yeah man those kids at UT Austin are really suffering.

University of Florida (which I attended) is one of the top public universities in the country. Not sure it deserving but it's a good school.

Yeah it's good. I guess I'm just saying they don't have a *Southern Ivy* like Duke or Emory which is pretty wild but also really just elitist of me.
Lived in Florida for 15 years (1992-2007). There's a lot I loved but a lot that's changed since then. My favorites being the Keys, Fort Lauderdale, Dunedin, Clearwater, and Jax beaches.
I go back once a year and enjoy visiting but not sure I'd live there again. I can't put it ahead of Oregon, but it's definitely better than Georgia.
I wouldn’t live in Alabama voluntarily. I like Birmingham and Huntsville. Mobile and the coast in Baldwin County is alright. Too many necks in the area but we have a decent food and arts scene here. Beach rules too.
Is Mobile alright? I saw somewhere recently it's one of the more dangerous cities in the US.
They have some crime prone areas. You’re not going to get held up downtown and shot there but there is poverty up in Prichard and points farther north (Creola, Satsuma, etc.) and pockets in town. I remember my boss about 20 years ago was going look at a house in Prichard and all the street signs were missing. And he asked and old guy which street he was on and where all the street signs were. He told him they take them down so the police get confused. Obviously they weren’t traveling with sophisticated computers back then.
Have been considering giving up my office job to hunt super snakes full-time. Just seems like a more important job than making some assholes in Boston rich.
